8ft BUD from neighbor for free

Nice find olliec420 and the price was right.:biggrin.Being the dish was originally installed in 96 the actuator may very well work.are all the ball pivot joints free and not rusted up?.If it has grease fittings I would give it a good lubing.Could be worth the time to tinker with that actuator...

Need SatelliteGuys Assistance for C-band Feedhorn Alignment Tool Project

This project took off with a full head of steam and quickly realized the manufacturing, demand cost were not workable. There is only less than a handfull of folks for us here in NA that would like to advance our hobby and Titanium Brian is 1 of them so I will never knock the efforts of these great...

So is it this easy to start?

I can understand that. Its an 8 footer?..Winegard made a good dish...JMO I would contact ke4est,Titanium or Rick for a receiver and dish positioner...Keep it right here local rather than going over the pond. ...Worth going forward no doubt and a great hobby to boot.

So is it this easy to start?

Take it for what ya want but you are waisting time and money doing this with a TV....Nice Winegard dish...Much better off hanging around and asking more questions about receivers, dish movers etc...Take ur time and gather info.

    Warped Dish

Steel,Aluminum is actually very forgiving.Unless not properly built from the start then using turn buckles will just make things worse...Granted we are not talking about helping a button hook out!...If the dish does not pass the string test then best thing would be to disassemble the dish panels...

Advice for obtaining 6 foot C-band dish

Fun hobby indeed..Sunday it is and what a great day to just drive around and look in yards for a BUD.Knocking on doors is how I got most of my dish`s and a high percentage of folks just want these dish`s out of there yard and will give them away for free. Then there is craigslist.Just did a...

What an awesome find......Something to hang ur head up high...Many would love to have that dish and the H-H....Don`t skimp on components such as lnb`s and a mover...Would be an injustice for a great find!!

Cleaning up and mounting a BUD

Thats a good deal for RG6 at ur local Lowes..Don`t recall such a deal here at the local Lowes stores...Just a suggestion but the compression fittings that you posted do not have orings which will help in keeping moisture out...Beldon I have had good luck with here. About once a yr I go thru all...

Cleaning up and mounting a BUD

Who even carries Ribbon Cable this day in time?...No need at all for Ribbon Cable if can even be found!..If Brandon is going to dedicate the dish to Cband only then a good quality rg6 is all that is needed.Dont skimp on the rg6 and the compression fittings..I like Beldon fittings with the...

Cleaning up and mounting a BUD

Nice find Brandon.Have 1 just like it here ( 10' Unimesh ) ..Nice performer! What are you thinking about a feedhorn?..Keep it dedicated for Cband only or Cband and Ku?..Whatever you decide I recommend keeping the moollaa here in the states...Venture actuators still made in the USA...

    LNB fine tuning with meter

A finely tuned Unimesh will work no better for Ku than a 1.2m.....Not much margin for error so a 1m would be more comparable...Best advice I have is never mess with a mesh for Ku!..Much much better off using a ortho feed on the Unimesh for Cband and finding a nice solid 1.2 or 1.8 Ch...

    18V to two LNB's

Thats just it john _robot?..I would not waist my time trying to juice both lnb`s at 18v..What I am using here for 6 plus yrs on the entire farm is the Zinwell 4803`s...Man they are almost bulletproof and in that timeframe of the 14 in the system I have only had 1 failure......Much more reliable...

    18V to two LNB's

Yup you can do this and add Bias T`s to the system....It does make it nice using a laptop power supply ( 20 v ) but really I see no benefit other than using a regular powered multiswitch...Now if you have a large dish farm then this could be a benefit...I was going to go down that road but after...

Any suggestions for fixing a rusty rim? Or is this dish even worth saving?

I would scrap it out for scrap metal pricing..Saving the scaler ring, feedhorn and lnb`s...Sure a Sunday trip just driving around will have better results?..Oh also the actuator is another item to hang on to even if it is seized up...Just my 4 coppers..LOL..

Wanting to set up my C band dish- have questions

What do you have for a Cband feed assembly?..Servo controlled or a dual Cband ortho setup?.No Ku on the big dish?.I was going to recommend just using the Amiko and ASC1 to move around the dish by way of Diseqc commands and using the Amiko loop out to the 4dtv but just took a look at my Mini HD...

Stuck Nut on the elevation bolt on C-band big dish

I would not worry to much about it...Go with what cham mentioned...Galvanized or even Stainless but once you have everything adjusted it does not much matter...Throw some Pb Blaster or Kroil on there every 6 months and you wont have that problem again.
