Broadcasters Slam FCC C Band Proposal

All true, however for instance at&t abandoned dsl in my town 4 years ago. We are a town of roughly 1800. For 6 months we had to rely on Celular WiFi hotspots. Another company laid fiber and we now have internet. AT&T tried to stop the new carrier from bringing in fiber. Long story short there...

Broadcasters Slam FCC C Band Proposal

I think the basic problem overall with internet access and cost in the United States is greed or at least the desire to make a significant chunk of money off of consumers. It is true that in countries such as Iraq comparing satellite internet with available satellite internet available in the...

    Rainier D9865D MODEL

If i recall correctly the hugesnet mount will accommodate my commercial 1.2m dish. However being that i wanted a more permanent install for the 1.2m i planted a chainlink fence corner post. Ive had that thing pointed at 125w for almost a year and a half and it aint budged.

Installing my first motorized C Band Satellite Dish (w/pictures)

I dont know what you posted on Ricks site, but I can tell you this if you even hint at any receiver that he doesnt have a section on in his forum youll at a minimum get squelched and more then likely get banned. It is Ricks opinion that if you use anything other then receivers he deems "ok" that...

    Linkbox 9000i

Well the writing is on the wall honestly, tv will be mostly consumed via internet subscribed tv. More and more people are cutting the cord, many of those are purchasing subs to netflix and hulu. Many others are subing to PS Vue, Sling and Directv now. Disney will be launching a web channel that...

    Linkbox 9000i

Well My take is I love to hate and hate to love my 9000I local. Most of the hate comes from the recording part of the receiver. If it were refined just a bit more Id have zero issues with it. Now if there is a future model that had terrestrial, satellite, better DVR and Netflix, Hulu, Sling...

Unsteady DVB-S2 Signals on Old C-Band Lnb

When I first started I tried to start on the cheap side so I just used what I found. Well I also found that the lnb's I was using were shot. Some of them did as you describe and wouldnt lock and quality would bounce. Some of them would lock and then over a period of 5 to 15 minutes the quality...

While waiting for my 90cm dish....

You know i have modified everything from a foil covered Frisbee to a literal pizza pan and received ku signal but I have yet to get even a blip from c band on my 1.2m dish. I guess since the seasons winding down ill get a cooler of beer, a stool and start goofing around this fall............

What stuff did you watch on the big dish back then?

Yeah i know all this but i just remember actually noticing the difference even back then on analog signals. Actually i read someplace that large hotel chains and some corporations could still purchase subs, but id wager its expensive, like really expensive. What we have now reminds me of the old...

What stuff did you watch on the big dish back then?

About all of the tv i watched as a kid was on c-band in the mid 80s till about 2000. I remember watching the feeds for startrek tng before they aired as well as several other shows. Even remember watching Bonanza in japanese or batman in spanish. My dad and i would make up our own dialog for...

    Terrestrial shield

They switched the meter out and the problem was lessened enough that it doesnt pixilate the picture but i can still see pulses on the signal meter. Apparently it was transmitting with too much power, im guessing.

Blind Scan Quirk on 127 W.

Well there are different levels of "made in China". The problem is that now (not trying to be political here) we have outsourced nearly all electronics to a point it isnt fiscally reasonable to manufacture electronics stateside. Nearly all items are manufactured someplace in Asia. So American...

I spoke with a guy there about 6 months ago by phone. He says they have dishes in stock ready to ship. But i have also read that someone ordered a dish from them and it was dropshipped from Canada and wound up being basically a tek 2000 dish. I dont know which of the 2 10' dishes the person...

    How do I get started

While a 16' dish would be great, there are other considerations to contend with. If you are up to that task then by all means go for it. If it gets really windy where you are 16' will catch a lot of wind.

Anyone Have a Manhattan 1978 Receiver?

I often forget to set the LO and takes a second to recognize this. Kinda sucks to have to set the lo on every sat position but I guess at least that way you know what you have when setting each position.
