Would I be able to pick up any signal of the 117w on a Directv dish in Dallas, TX? Is the footprint strong here?

Not with a Directv LNB.

I can pick up signals off of 113w with a dishnetwork dish with a universal lnbf, never tried 117w.

Right a UNIVERSAL lnb. A SWM3, SWM5, KAKU3, KAKU5 are not universal LNBs. They are circular.
