    Fate of C Band

And not only voice our concerns to the FCC, send them to our representatives in Washington as well. They claim they are representing us, well they need to prove it.

    Fate of C Band

As Al Lewis, better known as Grandpa Munster, once said on the Howard Stern show... "F*ck the FCC!" Why C-band? Why not Circular Ku, Ka-band? L-band? S-band? X-band? etc. Any legitimate reason? Aren't some of the other bands able to carry more bandwith at faster speeds?

Rescued 8 Foot Dish From Swamp

Didn't find UFI on it anywhere, and just for kicks, used a handheld metal detecter, and apparently there is something metal inside. I remember my Uncle saying he got this dish from a radio station. He had 6 c-band dishes setup, 5 were mesh 10 to 12 footers, but all were destroyed or damaged by...

Rescued 8 Foot Dish From Swamp

It's not perfect, but it is working. It does have some "dimples" where 2 of the original mounts were, but at least it picks up better than my Mini-BUD. I set it at 97w. Started raining, but I think a little more tweaking and using it as a fixed dish will be fine. Don't think it would do so well...

Rescued 8 Foot Dish From Swamp

UPDATE: Have the arm and mount straight, new scaler ring installed, and a Titanium Satellite CK1S C/Ku Band Combo LNBF installed. Getting a signal, but needs tweaking. Started raining so will have to wait to finish. So I'm going to mark everything, disassemble, and get it cleaned up and...

Rescued 8 Foot Dish From Swamp

OK, here's a solid 8 footer that I literally dragged out of a small pond. I don't know who made it, but it looks like it's fiberglass. The bracket on the back was corroded beyond use, so I am going to have to cut it off and make my own. But it also has 2 areas that are bulged, so I may need to...

    Titanium Satellite CK1-S Repair

Well I've come up with another fun project. I have a 20 year old Sony Home Theatre system, and was given an old Sony Direct TV Plus Digital Satellite Receiver SAT-B55, which matches my system. Since it can no longer be activated, I'm going to gut it, and put the parts of a cheap unbranded FTA...

    Titanium Satellite CK1-S Repair

Ahhhh... I haven't tried yet, but I'm always up for a challenge, and I'm addicted to FTA, so I'm sure I'll be trying to soon... :idea I have a motorized Ku-band setup, this dual purpose LNBF was one I had just bought for experimenting with on a mini-bud project using an old...

    Titanium Satellite CK1-S Repair

I like to use use an impact wrench:eeek Some LNBFs have thin walled F-connectors, add to the fact I had to take my dishes down in a hurry for hurricane Irma, probably didn't help either. What surprised me was the Ku-band side seems to have a better connector than the C-band side. But...

    Titanium Satellite CK1-S Repair

As long as you can get the angles for the LNBFs correct I don't see why not. I haven't tried this myself, but I'm sure others on here have done it. But I believe that you have to have a Ku band LNBF that is made for a prime focus dish when using on a big dish.

    Titanium Satellite CK1-S Repair

Same here, and I knew that was all that was wrong with it, so I had nothing to lose by trying to repair it. I also have a 6 foot hurricane damaged fiberglass dish I'm trying to decide if or how I can repair. It has cracks and bulges where the dish was bolted to the frame for the post, and it...

    Titanium Satellite CK1-S Repair

When I removed the old one, it appeared to have been cross-threaded on the inside, so it may have been a manufacturing defect, but don't know for sure. I'm thinking there was a hairline crack, and it just finished breaking when I re-installed after hurricane Irma. I never wrench them (anymore at...

    Titanium Satellite CK1-S Repair

Thanks! I just hated the idea of tossing it when it was practically new. I bought it over a year ago but had only recently started using it, and had to take my dishes down for hurricane Irma. And this is what happened when I went to reinstall. I had another c-band that the terminal wasn't...

    Titanium Satellite CK1-S Repair

Hi SatelliteGuys, Thought I'd share a "fun" project I just completed. I repaired a Titanium Satellite CK1-S C/ku band LNBF that was damaged because of a bad terminal. The C-band side terminal was die-cast and very thin, which broke off easily. I was about to toss it out, but decided to try...

    Multi LNB Holders for C-band

I found a few multi C-band LNB holders and was wondering if anyone has tried one. I found several designs for dual and quad lnbs. I only found 1 on eBay, from China. Others I found doing a web search, but apparently none sold in the US???. Any thoughts? One description for the dual one says 10°...

manhatten dj-1997 hd versus Linkbox 9000i

The Linkbox 9000i Local also has an over-the-air tuner, so you can used the PVR to record your local TV channels from antenna as well. I usually see them starting at $175, but have seen for over $200. Just have to shop around to get the best price. But for that small amount of difference for one...

    C-Band Dish Worth the Investment?

Because it's FREE content, and along with a good outdoor TV antenna for local channels, there is plenty of great programming to watch. I had both DirecTV and Dish in the past, for me, the cost doesn't justify what I can choose, I'd say 90% of the channels in their packages I never watched and I...
