    BirdView spotted while on Vacation

Probably the copyright police, a competing installer or a pizza dish sales guy threated them. (unless they aimed the dish so it could not work..)

    lawsuits against providers

Litigate against who for what? What is the claim? What are the damages? Who is responsible for them? If there's any money involved, Class Action means the lawyers consume it. Then if everything went well, you might get a coupon for a discount on Pizza TV.

How? By moving the feed relative to the scalar or what? If so, what about what Lak said?

Clearance necessary for 5 or 6 foot dish

It's not uncommon here to see dishes way high in the air on a tall pole. That way, you could put the pole next to the roofline. - What Anole said... Then the part of the dish that projects toward the north could stick over the roof. (meaning you might be able to have a 8-10 foot dish.

    6 ft fortec star

Good tip Corrado. I have also noticed there is a lot of play between the LNB and scalar ring. Between the possibility of problems with the mounting arms and the sloppy fit of the LNB in the scalar ring, that might explain inconsistencies in my fixed dish operation. Been working on...

    satellite prices and the economy

Great Link, Johnny. I nominate this thread to be shared with the FTA Shack Forum I think that the argument contained inside: The cable TV industry has long argued that pricing individual channels would result in higher prices and fewer choices for all consumers. is BS...

Can you guys identify this stuff?

That Channel Plus thing under the speaker might be an RF modulator. Would know better after seeing connections on the back. That and all of the distribution stuff (amps, filters and whatnot) would be worth keeping in my book.

I may have found my 6 footer!

Just the fiberglass dish part of my 6 foot Prodelin weighs 75 pounds. Probably take a really beefy actuator. Unless you get a polar mount with it (not likely) I would leave it fixed-offset. Putney, you could visualize the offset dish this way (see the PDF) Oh, there is a Word document...

    concrete base question

The pole is five feet long. A cantilever beam... I read that there are holes for three bolts in the flange. Just curious.. How big is the flange? (length between the holes, - length of the sides of the triangle, whatever)

    Bad receivers on eBay!

So then, it's not really a shipping fee is it? Another other reason is that buyers might overlook the shipping fee and bid too much. Regardless, it's about more money for the seller. Either it screws eBay, or it raises the chance of screwing the buyer.

Yeah, but its $100 Isn't there there a battery in the 922 also?

    Bad receivers on eBay!

If this was stated up front, you agreed to it. If it wasn't stated up front, that was a blank check. eBay does have a policy about excessive shipping. But in practice, the situation has to be extreme.

    Adventures in Dish Hunting 2009

Thanks for the heads up Anole. Rather than to try fiddling around with the Prodelin, I'd rather try to get a polar mount for a six foot stationary Fortec.

    FTA Receiver settings

That link tells to use 5150 LO for C-band and 10750 LO for Ku Band. Here is the manual (PDF) for that LNB. If you are using the onboard switch, it says to use 22 khz OFF for C-band and 22 khz ON for Ku-band. You could also use a DiSEqC switch with or without the onboard switch.

    C band on 39" dish??

Wonder why? Equity going down caused some dishes to be freed up? Affordable LNBs and conical scalars? Something else?

Old 10' solid fiber dish......worth salvaging?

Are there any pieces to mount a scalar ring / feed horn on? If not. I'd pass. You ought to be able to find a dish with all the parts. You might check to see what peruvian channels are available here.
