    Bob Cooper has passed away

When I got my big dish in 1985, he was still active. A lot of great memories. RIP. You will be missed.

    Bob Cooper has passed away

Sorry to hear this. He was a pioneer. I remember him back in the 1980s when I first got my big dish.

    Weigel Channels

Thanks. It sounds like Weigel only wants METV+ on their owned stations, as the rest of their channels can end up anywhere. I remember for years METV+ was only on their main station in Chicago. I asked them about it (Before we got a Weigel LPTV), that the programming was only licensed for the...

    Weigel Channels

Apparently Weigel does still not offer METV+ via a feed. I get it OTA.

    CTV Leaving Satellite ?

I bought my NQS 8.5 foot Dish in 85 and updated everything through the years. I am getting rid of it as I stream nearly everything these days. There are also alternative ways to get Canadian TV from the states. I have found I do not miss the dish. I have two Roku's, three Fire Sticks and a...

Picking up a 4.5 cband dish

Isn't 4.5 foot a bit small for C Band? Even my old 8.5 foot solid Dish doesn't do to well on some S2.

What was your favourite memory of a feed or channel on cband before channels got scrambled ?

I installed my dish back in July 1985, just before scrambling hit 1/1/86. I did not get it for free HBO or Showtime, but for access to regular channels COX Cable did not carry at the time. Being an old TV show fan, I loved CBN. They ran back to back old 50s/60s shows including Burns & Allen...

    New C-band satellites coming

Do the Canadian's have to move their spectrum also? How about Mexico? I only heard of the U.S selling off the spectrum.

FCC to sell c band spectrum

I'm not getting rid of mine either. Now, the Anik and Mexican birds will stay the same I presume, as this only affects the US? I wonder how much of the 3.7-4.2 spectrum will actually be lost before this ends?

FCC to sell c band spectrum

Not great news. Too bad the industry cannot use below 3700? Aren't their satellite spectrum that is used below? I know below 11700 is used.

Is there an generic outboard DVR I can use for my satellite receiver, etc.?

It might be me, as the 9500 does record to the HDD. However, I cannot figure out how to get the timers to record to work. The manual is rather vague. It may right fine, but it could be the operator.

Is there an generic outboard DVR I can use for my satellite receiver, etc.?

I like my Pansat 9500, but I have had issues with recording on the thumb drive. It seem to record okay, but I must be doing something wrong, as I cannot get the record timer to function. I was thinking using an outboard DVR unit to record to. There are OTA DVR units, but for the big dish...

C Band on a small dish

I had no idea that C Band could be received on something that small. Even my 8.5 foot dish has its limits. Some weaker signals in MPEG4 are tough to get to lock. I get most but not all.

Can some suggest a simple postioner/polarity switcher?

I am a 70 year old guy with yesterdays technology in my mind. So the learning curve sometimes is not easy. I have an old Samsung S4 phone and I even have issues with that at times. :-). Again much appreciated.

Can some suggest a simple postioner/polarity switcher?

Thank you. It was great to talk about the early days of TVRO too. The old Maspro,. you could easily go into the menu to lock each location of each bird and at that point adjust the polarity. It took time, but it was easy. Trying to do the same thing with the Supra was not working out. Sure I can...

Can some suggest a simple postioner/polarity switcher?

Thanks again for the great suggestion. I called them and I have a unit on the way. I even got one of the open box units for $135. Hopefully I can get my BUD up and working. I was told using an IRD as a manual situation does not work out well. The Maspro stand alone worked well in that regard.

Can some suggest a simple postioner/polarity switcher?

It looks like this unit will work well. I tried to order one online and there seemed to be an issue, so I got their phone number and will call them in the morning. Thanks.

Can some suggest a simple postioner/polarity switcher?

I am from the old school having my analog satellite system back from 1985. What exactly is ASC1? That used to be the name of a satellite. My old Maspro, it was simple to just move to the next bird, lock it in and set the polarity. The Supra is so complicated. I just have no had any luck. If this...

Can some suggest a simple postioner/polarity switcher?

Thanks. I am sure mine works. It is just too complicated for me to figure it out.

Can some suggest a simple postioner/polarity switcher?

My old USS Maspro receiver died several months ago, so I had to come up with something quick as a dish mover/polarity switcher. I had a used Supra, but for the life of me I cannot figure the darn thing out. Trying to adjust the polarity, setting the satellites, it has not worked out well. Can...

    Replacement for old C/KU Feedhorn

I'll try to take a picture. It is a tripod mount. 3 rusty arms, since it has been out there for 35 years. If the KU probe in the middle stops rotating, would it block the C Band signal? That is my concern. If not, then both polarities on C Band should be working. My old Chaparral I don't know if...

    Replacement for old C/KU Feedhorn

I have an old C/KU 8.5 foot BUD with a bad feedhorn. The feedhorn has been on there for 30 years and it quit a few weeks ago. Well, I can get one polarity on some C birds. In looking at the feedhorn in changing the polarity, the inter probe (C) turns, but the little wire KU probe in front...

Voltage on old Maspro receiver is no longer switching polarity

Update. I tore into the system a bit tonight bypassing my diseqc switches I used with my old 4DTV receiver combining C/KU with both the FTA, which I no longer need. Just a switch to combine C/KU to my Pansat. Anyway, in the process, I hooked the C Band line directly to the Pansat 9500 and my...

Voltage on old Maspro receiver is no longer switching polarity

I have been having issues with the receiver (Maspro) not getting the Vertical side of the TPs on C Band. The funny thing is, the KU side works fine. I get both V/H on G19, but no vertical on C Band. I first thought it was the polorotor motor but it moves fine. Any idea what the issue might be? I...

    Luken Channels on SES2

Here in the NW (Oregon Coast), SES2 Luken is really touchy. Right now I cannot get them either, but the Dish is off a bit after the high winds this past Winter. I need to align it. Both ends of the arc are off. After I realign the Dish this Summer, I will try again. At one time the BUD tracked...
