    Ku on a 8-footer

I have a feeling you are on to something here. Right now, I'm using a single coax to the C-band antenna lnbf. However, I'm working with an Ecoda switch so I can get a 90cm ku on the same box as well. I have the ku coax going through the 22KHz side, and the C-band coax using the 0KHz side of the...

    Ku on a 8-footer

I have successfully set up an 8-footer, and works great. Except the ku side - can't get it to work! Any tips?

    Advice on buying/removing bud

The way I got mine was by offering the removal service for free. Put a picture up on Craigslist saying something like "Do you have one of these you want to get rid of? I can take it out of your hands for free". lol I ended up receiving several "offers".

    Advice on buying/removing bud

Yeah, they are right. I once took an 8-footer down, but its distance to the roof was much closer, so I was able to take it off the mast just from standing on the roof. Then I sawed the mast off.

Strong signal between 83W and 61W?

Managed to detect signal at 55.5W, but so weak it's not watchable. It may be an aligment issue, or a LOS issue (some trees to the east, although leafless right now). Anyone out there getting this bird successfully around the 90's longitude? Anyway, at least now I know where I'm pointing at.

Strong signal between 83W and 61W?

No wonder I'm not getting anything... I blind scanned every degree east of 83 W (up to my limit, which *I think* is about 60 W), and nothing...

Strong signal between 83W and 61W?

After learning how hardware limit switches work and adjusting them to gain the ability to scan further eastwards (thanks to the invaluable input of Anole, Johnnynobody, and Crackt), I am now trying to find something past 83W. Any recommendations on a strong transponder to lock signal between...

    Err2

Once again, what would I do without my SatelliteGuys "family"? Thanks, Anole, Crackt, and Johnnynobody, the issue was exactly like you described. I adjusted the limit switch and I was free to move eastwards!

    Err2

Thanks, guys! I will take it apart as soon as I can be out there without gloves and without my hands freezing solid. lol

    Err2

Living and learning, Johnny. I had no idea about this second line of "stops". So, looking inside, where and how can one set (or reset) these limits?

    Limit switches? What are those?

    Err2

Friends, I’m having an issue on my newly installed 8-footer. I’m located at 93 W, and I have been scanning satellites in my LOS, being my western limit 135 W (run out of arm). To the east, I scanned 89 W, 87 W, 83 W, and then I get the “Err2” message. First I thought the dish was catching on...

    Positioner wiring

Yep, this is exactly like mine. So, the little plastic bar is the reed sensor, and those two wires are soldered to it, right? Thanks for the pics!

    Positioner wiring

I need to try that. But if all else fails, I think I found a good replacement, which I post here to add to the knowledge database. ;-) Swiden Distributing - Detail1 - 9U-218 - Sensor: SuperJack - C-Band - Swiden Distributing

    Positioner wiring

Yeah, Rat Shak is not carrying Reed Switches anymore. The ones I found at Mouser seem to be a good fit, size wise. The original one just says "SuperJack", and nothing else. Going to look at the site sponsors next.

Bongu, thanks for your input. It has been difficult to find this exact actuator. I was just looking at this product: MK06-8-H MEDER electronic Proximity Sensors Do you think it will work?

    Positioner wiring

Thanks for the pics, gabshere. Unfortunately, my little plastic piece does not have any terminals to solder the wires to. On your, though, does that piece mount in front of the magnetic wheel as is?
