Neat adaptation of my Corotor polarity/skew control

Very well done. I note that your dielectric has a shaft linking it to the skew arm at the bottom of the feedhorn tube; My Chapparral Corotor has no such dielectric in the tube just the skew arm. Has my Corotor lost a component on its journey to me ? Thanks Tony

    two problems in Panama

    1. My old Legacy II box has a problem, it does not respond to the remote control. I have changed the batteries but that didnt help. I use the box to move the dish and to change polarity. Is it the box or the remote ? How do you test a RF remote ? 2. I am still unclear about the orientation of...

    Help the Polorator has died

I would very much like the details when you can dig them out. I enjoyed you website and was green with envy when I saw your tower with all the antenna on it. How does your windom perform on 20 metres. I have had trouble with HF antennas here in our jungle location surrounded by many tall trees ...

    Help the Polorator has died

"I have a chaparral feedhorn and polarotor from the 10' i rescued that i don't use. I haven't checked to make sure the polarotor still works but you could have it for the shipping cost if you were interested. I can send some pics when i get back home." That would be great we are visiting...

    Help the Polorator has died

I had been using a Chapparal Feed horn and polorator with a Norsat LNB with some success. Now the polorator has died and the four set screws holding it to the feedhorn have siezed. So what to do now ? I could buy an ESX241 with the benefit of being a LNBF and scrap the Norsat cost about $40 or...

    What have I found ?

I move my BUD with an analogue receiver and scan all channels looking for screen disturbance. If I see some I manaully check the signal on each channel looking for the highest signal. I then move the dish to maximise the signal. While scanning a bird (I dont know which one) but is around 103...

    Long distance BUD to house

I have had some success in picking up satellites with US footprints down here in Panama. The house is 140 feet from the BUD and so often I find that I can lock a signal at the foot of the dish but cannot lock it at the house due to losses in the coax. Following advice from others on this site...

    Nedd some sort of amplifier

So here is the problem. The BUD is about 140 feet from the house. We live in Panama and despite a big dish some sigmals down here are marginal. With the box and a tv at the base of the dish I can lock some signals quite well. Take the box and tv up the hill to the house I get the dreaded "No or...

Moving a BUD other than by an actuator

Yesterday I was lowering my dish to its lowest position in order to work on the LNB. To do this I have to rig up a chain to the dish mount and connect this via a "comealong" to a stake in the ground. I take up the tension and disconnect the actuator before lowering the dish to the ground with...

    Norsat LNB Orientation

I have just bought a Norsat 8515 LNB to bolt onto my Chapparel Feed horn. I notice by looking down the throat of the LNB that the small probe is off centre about 80% / 20 %. The LNB will bolt onto the Feed horn in 2 possible orientations. Which one is correct ? Many thanks Tony
