No pulses from reed switch only when trying to move the dish east.

Interesting. After banging it several times, the positioner works again. I'll see if digikey carries a similar relay by part number to what's in the VBox. This thing is only a few months old and it's misbehaving already. It's a good thing I gave it the what for ;)

No pulses from reed switch only when trying to move the dish east.

No potential difference across the motor leads when trying to go east and 36V going west. Yep, it's probably the positioner. I hear a teeny, teeny click when trying to go east. The relays in the VBox X aren't see through like some I've seen before, and nothing is loose (via shaking) so I...

No pulses from reed switch only when trying to move the dish east.

On a second look, one of the limit switches stays closed (ie stays continuous with the motor wires) if the switch is depressed or not. The other one works by opening the circuit when depressed and that diode indeed has a lower resistance in one direction than the other. It's easier to try...

No pulses from reed switch only when trying to move the dish east.

Yep. I'll try this out. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

No pulses from reed switch only when trying to move the dish east.

I think it's the positioner. I tested the limit switches and they're working the way they should. I swapped the motor wires, and now I can move it east . . . but can't move it west now. I guess the positioner can only deliver current in one direction only. For the time being I'm going to...

No pulses from reed switch only when trying to move the dish east.

Nope, no sticking. Maybe the switch is bad somehow. I'll check to see if the switch is open, even though the buttons aren't depressed.

No pulses from reed switch only when trying to move the dish east.

Thanks. I'll check this out. I'm not sure where it would be though, but I'm sure I'll come across it because there's not much stuff under the cover.

No pulses from reed switch only when trying to move the dish east.

I ran into a weird problem. I'm controlling my actuator with a VBox X and I can move my dish west (extend only) and I'm getting pulses from my reed switch, but when I try to go in the opposite direction (retract), I get Error 2 from the positioner, ie no pulses. I went out and loosened the...

Analog receiver dead . . .can a GBox type device change polarity and position my C-Band Dish?

The bad part is that I found an analog receiver at a garage sale about 9 years ago for about 10 bucks, but I had no room for it, so 3 years after I bought it, I got rid of it. I knew it would come in handy for a time like this, but the equipment gods aren't smiling on me recently.

Analog receiver dead . . .can a GBox type device change polarity and position my C-Band Dish?

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll go the new analog receiver route. I don't think I'm capable enough to replace my feedhorn.

Analog receiver dead . . .can a GBox type device change polarity and position my C-Band Dish?

Hi, I got a double whammy this morning. My desktop computer was hit with keylogger trojan, and my analog receiver died. That 20 year old receiver was doing the dish positioning plus the polarity changing for my SSO. Now I need a replacement - can a GBox type device control polarity AND...

Did we lose things on Galaxy 16, 99C West?

Thanks for the help, but I got them in now. My dish is motor driven. Believe it or not, I think I just bent it slightly into place. I pulled forwards on the dish, and held it in place for a minute or so, and then pulled on the supports holding the lnb over the focus for another 30 seconds...

Did we lose things on Galaxy 16, 99C West?

I now see that when I pull the front of the dish down slightly, my quality goes up to 45%, so now I'll have to see what I can mechanically change to make that slight downward pull permanent without wrecking the whole thing.

Did we lose things on Galaxy 16, 99C West?

I'll try messing with it today and see what I can do, but right now I can only get 10% quality. Maybe deleting all those transponders and channels and adding it again will work, or pushing the dents out of my mesh with my fingers in several places might help out and boost the quality just...

Did we lose things on Galaxy 16, 99C West?

I should have remembered about the cold and less thermal noise for the teeny power sat signals . . . I'm just trying to figure out what else it could be. I just hope it makes a full recovery in the future on its own . . .

Did we lose things on Galaxy 16, 99C West?

I'm also in northern AZ, Prescott to be precise, and I lost the networks on Thursday evening. At first I thought that it was the snow accumulation on my 10 foot mesh BUD that was weighing it down, and I'd have to go out there and tighten some bolts to adjust it, but I can get the religious...

    what happened to CBS?

It is weird, but I guess it did change to a This affiliate. I noticed it this morning when I looked at my zap2it tv listings. The Washington state CBS affiliates are still there, but they're not on eastern time . . . and no early Letterman anymore. Bummer . . .

Slaving a 922 to an analog receiver

Thanks. Yeah, I understand . . . it's just that my equipment is so old, I want to make as minor changes as possible just so I know that I know I can correct anything that goes wrong. I may wind up just using the 922 and removing the old analog receiver once I get everything squared away. I'm...

Slaving a 922 to an analog receiver

Maybe I know the answer to this already, but I'd like to slave a 922 to an analog receiver to make it function like a FTA receiver. Is it possible? I already have a Pansat 3500 so I'd like to use the 922 like an FTA receiver, meaning that I want to use it just for the Digicipher decoder in it...
