Howdy all! My wife sleeps in a separate quasi-living room many nights. "Her" TV is on all night even tho' she's fast asleep most of the time. But she does wake up and wants the TV on when that happens, so for me to try to get her to use a timer function in the TV won't get us anywhere. "Her" room is also a frequent viewing area for the rest of the family during normal waking hours so that TV location is considered semi-prime viewing. I'm embarassed with what we have there now!
The current analog, CRT TV in that location is about to fail - it owes us nothing! - so I'm considering replacing it with a 32" to 40" LCD HD unit. I know I can get a 40" for about $1,000 or less by today's prices, and for this location I'll be satisfied with a low-cost "throwaway" - as long as it lasts at least 2-3 years I'll consider it having served its function. I'm guessing however that the component that's most likely to fail in our application will be the backlight. Some sets allow user replacement of that light.
Do you know of a cheap LCD unit with user-replaceable backlight? It doesn't need to have a tuner or a lot of functions beyond the basic stuff, and a single HDMI input would be all I need. (It will be paired with an 811 now, and probably a 211 after the rest of the voom channels move to MPEG-4.) I assume it would also have at least one set of component/audio inputs.

I couldn't bring myself to spend $2500 on a tv so I kept my 32" Sony CRT and bought a 720p Home Theater projector for about $800 instead. Now, I can watch what I want on a 90 inch screen!

But now I'm quite happy as it turned out, does the job nicely for all the projectors I had.
I had the Optoma HD70 for about 6 months, but its ~30% offset was too big for my setup
(only 7' ceiling) and I had to tilt the screen quite a bit (I don't use keystone correction).
But satellite hidef was just perfect on it.

Unless the specific product or its packaging is known at the time of weighing, estimating the tare weight for a PoS system is a tall order.
I'm pretty sure that produce bags can't get any thinner.
You certainly don't want to put unbagged produce on a belt, scale, or in a clerk's hands (gloved or not).
I would think that all the packaging would already be accounted for ... they weigh the container, subtract that from the scale, then add the product , so its weighing the Product onlyUnless the specific product or its packaging is known at the time of weighing, estimating the tare weight for a PoS system is a tall order.

In order to participate in any Cutting Edge testing, you must sign a Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA). Attached are a .docx (Microsoft Word) and PDF version of the latest DirecTV NDA. I found it easiest to complete the .docx version then paste a photo or scan image of my signature, cropped closely to just the signature into it as a picture. Then set Word to wrap text around the picture so that the picture follows the text "Signature".
People who have better PDF tools than I do may prefer that version.
When you apply for any Cutting Edge testing, you will be told how to send the signed copy.

Hmmm, I'm not seeing anything like those events in our Hopper 3 guide for tonight or Saturday.
I went into the Tools menu and requested a Guide Update. I'll try looking at it after the update completes.
edit — I now have the 148-01 4KFox events for Saturday, but not anything for 148-02 or 148-03 which don't even show as available channels. I do have 148-04 4KUSA.

Even though it didn't work out for the Hoosiers, this event recorded and I was able to watch it in full 4K HDR.

That is a misnomer. In the old days you subscribed to telephone service. That included the telephone line and one telephone. An extension cost $1 a month extra. I know HipKat said that they were working on conversions but we got the official news yesterday right from Dish that starting next month all DMA's will be on the western arc, and all customers will be assigned to that. That's gonna mean a lot of customers around here aren't gonna get Dish unless there are exceptions. Too many mountains and trees.
