I know HipKat said that they were working on conversions but we got the official news yesterday right from Dish that starting next month all DMA's will be on the western arc, and all customers will be assigned to that. That's gonna mean a lot of customers around here aren't gonna get Dish unless there are exceptions. Too many mountains and trees.

Loss of profit from those cx's is outweighed by savings from dropping the maintaining of separate sat positioning. They added the eastern arc at a time when sat subscribership was still on the ascent, in effort to maximize market share. Now with its rapid descent, there're both far fewer new inceptions as well as far fewer existings to keep it going for.
Unless Dish acquires DirecTV and its mid-USA satellite slots, I may not have Dish Network to reach 40 years. Or, I guess we could buy a new house…

I'm on the east in Chicago. I don't not subscribe to the locals. Will I be moved to the west even though I don't subscribe to them.
Probably, because once all of the DMAs are on the western arc they will undoubtedly shut down 61.5 and 72 because there will be little need of them except for Puerto Rico.
the east sats are going offline, from what we've been told

I am on 72 and 61.5 (Owensboro, KY, but Evansville, IN DMA). Any idea when Dish will notify me when they plan to change ?
It would be nice if Dish Network would do us the courtesy of an email or USPS mail to give us a heads up on their plans. I did see the SEC filing back from 2019 where they outlined plan to cease operations of the EA satellites after 2031, but their plans appear to have changed.

I had a new roof so the dish was moved to the side of the house. When I moved into this house the dish was installed for the eastern satellite. I don't know why the installer did the east. The dish is mounted on the south side of the home.
So is this end of Dish. I have an OTA along with Dish Locals. Never got around to Canceling them
No it is not the end of Dish. They will simply move your service from eastern arc to western arc. Now, if you have no line of sight to 110 and 119 that could affect you individually.
Except the created eastern arc because many customers couldn't receive western arc

Now that 129 is out of the picture, LOS for the western arc shouldn't be too bad. Up in the NE the look angle for 129 was ridiculously low.
Wonder what the rush is for? I mean they are losing subs so fast they need to downsize their satellites so they can save money?
