Four simple steps:
First, the BD group must match the low cost HD-DVD players this XMAX.
Second, the BD manufactures must start supporting all features of BD including BD-Java 2.0 and all sound codecs.
Third, the BD studios must stop holding back and flood the market with AAA titles this XMAS.
Fourth, the BD group needs to cut M$ off at the pass and throw whatever money it takes to either keep Warner nuetral or get Warner to support BD only.
Accomplish these four things by XMAS and M$ will have lost a $150 mil bet. Accomplish half of these and you keep your lead. Do none of these or allow Warner to go HD-DVD exclusive and you not only insure two formats surving for the next few years but you also insure that neither will replace DVD.

- The announced MSRP for the Denon is $2k,not $1k (OK, $1,999.99)

- Well there will be more at CEDIA, but it was posted by Dave Vaughn of Home Theater Spot on the AVS Insider forum that there will be no BD 1.1 players in 2007, and no BD Insider challenged it.
- No wonder the BDA tried to end this thing this summer by offering Universal 'generous incentives' to at least go neutral.

There are 2 Denons. One at around $2,000 and one half the price.
Full featured: How many outputs? Of what type? All simultaneously live? How about the ability to load several discs in the machine at once? Maybe a unit with an amp built in, just hook up TV and speakers?
In other words, I was not referring to the basic specs. I'm stating that I'm sure there will be a broad price range. The $200 machines will be basic. More money gets you what- multiple optical outputs? More connectors, etc? One way or another, there will be machines that cost more and provide more, so it won't be a total commodity market. There will be buyers for nicer, more feature laden machines.
Could they really fail to get out a profile 1.1 machine this year, and for less than $1,000 - much less fail to produce a -live version? If they really fail at that, then yes, maybe Sony will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, once again.

But.....if you like Tulsa King....looks like you would probably like this as well. I don't mind spin-offs as long as they don't involve a sassy niece who moves from the big cityAnother Tulsa King spin off.
I thought I would come here and find lots of complaints about the update to the dish anywhere mobile app, but am not seeing any. It used to look just like the desktop webpage. Now you can no longer filter by sports channels or movie channels. Plus that they made it look like a big button telephone and you see fewer channels in the screen which requires more scrolling. Yes I realize you can look at sports then select which sport you want to look at, I just liked being able to see all sporting events in the guide with all other channels being filtered out. Am I alone in the wilderness on this?

Might be worth a watch when it comes out. Looks like typical big corp against the little guy movie BUT....there is a reason this plot type is so oft repeated, it draws audiences.

If you're going try to read / listen to the book (can't recommend the audio book enough) before this comes out, I'd avoid trailers.
Trailer below, spoiling it to make sure you read the above bold message first. The book / audio book are fantastic. Go into this blind if you can IMO!
Kind of disappointed at how much they show. A lot still to see, but man, some good reveals in the book that are just served up here.

I had quit watching this show years ago because I ended up more annoyed than entertained. Well......I'm STILL more annoyed than entertained. I DO find it interesting to see how things work behind the scenes at many businesses. What annoys me is how utterly out of touch CEOs are with the companies they run. At the end of almost every episode the head of the company is amazed at how hard the employees have to work and many times have to work around impossible guidelines set forth from headquarters.
I found this one interesting because the new CEO had big plans for this company, Muscle Maker Grill, and it looked like the stores were all pretty busy. Recent history hasn't been good to this company however. I bet the covid lockdowns were the real killer.
