No HD news from the Tech Chat. Which to me is kind of sad since they advertised it as an HD chat. (Then talked for almost 30 minutes about the ATSC conversion trying to sell their boxes then at the end they say "but if your a dish network customer you dont need one of these."

Excuse me but who the hell else was watching this show? Why did they waste my time?

To me to while its an honor I think its sad for you to find out any information about Dish Network that you need to hear it from me before you hear it directly from Dish Network. Dish had the chance to talk tonight and they chose not to open their mouths.

The air must be really thin in Denver.

Maybe it's time to admit that Dish has been feeding you bs along with the rest of us and take the gloves off.

There have been "rumors" and "insinuations" about Dish releasing new HD not just at CES and on Feb 1st but since shortly after "D" added their new HD channels. How many of you still actually believe they ever intended any of it?

Maybe it's time for Dish to realize SatGuys is a force to reckon with - both good and bad. It's a two way street. They give us the straight story and we can help disseminate it but they give us a line of dogshit and we can make things a little uncomfortable for them too.

That's the way it's supposed to work Scott.

I'd have a whole lot more respect for Charlie if he came out and said they just don't have the capacity right now or they've been unsuccessful in certain negotiations or whatever but don't try to buy time with Bullsh!t hype that's only intended to deflect and keep churn down.

BTW, putting call letters in empty uplinks, knowing full well it will create a bunch of discussion over here is just as much "BS" as floating a lies to Scott. It's still deception.

Keeping churn down is the appropriate action for a CEO, and is entirely legitimate and respectable. No one has lied, and Charlie has said on numerous occasions (almost exact quote): " If you need that channel, then you should subscribe to DirecTV. "

But, I can tell you that it is certain that they don't have the capacity right now and they've been unsuccessful in certain negotiations.

Neither of those means that there will be no HD channels, just that it will be less than they would like.

In fact, it seems likely to me that - 24 hours from now - the discussion will shift to "Why the new HD channels suck"...

Uplink does not come out for a few about 15 or 20 minutes.

Again I can tell you no new HD today.

The big thing this week will be moving the HD RSN's in the guide from the 300 channel range. (No... unfortunately no additional HD RSNs in todays change and yes I am waiting for NESN HD just like everyone else)

SNY HD(The only HD RSN I get ) is at 5438 and mapped down to 438. I believe it was at 388 before...

Still a Dish logo this time of year? I thought I heard sumtin about showing the SD channel on the HD mapping during non-hd events.

Same situation with my Ohio channels. One of the channels is moving to 431. When I highlight 431 in my guide and hit select, I get the logo. When I type in 431, I get the SD channel. Is that normal?

That's the main reason I turned off the mapdown feature in my 211 boxes.

Enjoyed it last year with TW. I would trade the whole season for HD locals though.....

Possibly (and that could be a legitimate complaint) but I didn't say I was advocating them diluting whatever available bandwidth they have. My pet peeve about Dish is their "used car salesman" approach to marketing.
