is it possible to "split" a signal going into your receiver?

first, let me apologize in advance if this isn't the right place to post htis question... I'm brand new to the forum, so please bear with me! :)

I'm wondering if I can/need to use a specific splitter to split my one rg6 line going from my dish into my receiver. I have a dual-tuner cw3000hd + motorized dish set-up. currently, I'm only taking advantage of one of the tuners... which is a shame. I'm obviousl trying to avoid running a 2nd rg6 line from my dish into my finished basement, which would be really problematic.

I previously tried to use a splitter (generic splitter from home depot) to split my signal into two, one for each dvb tuner card, and it seemed to work, until I tried to switch to a different bird. the usals/diseq command seem to make it to the motor.

it seems to me that as long as there's a way to get the disecq command up to the motor, I should be okay.

any ideas??

I just turn the main system off via the remote control and use the slave receiver normal. The slave moves the dish and selects any channel on any transponder. I never have them both on at the same time. When I turn the slave off via the remote, I can use the main STB to move the dish and watch any channel I want.

i been using a a/b switch buy (radiorat)for 3 years ,and had no problems.

It may be that your A/b switch doesn't short the unused input, but some do. I know because I have some that do. I tested it with a multimeter before using it. That's what anyone thinking of using one in the manner you described should do.

Also, since DiSEqC switches are sensitive to voltage spikes on the coax, using a manual switch such as these with a DiSEqC in the line somewhere and the receiver(s) powered on might result in a faulty DiSEqC switch...

Is this possible only on certain STBs?

I tried this on my Merc-II (primary) and Skywalker(slave) and it didn't work. When i turn the Merc off through the remote, the Skywalker can't get any signal on any polarity.

I have to turn off my STBs using the power switch on the back, otherwise it doesn't work.

thanks for the response. I tried turning off the power switch at the back, but it didn't seem to help. the picture on the pc froze immediately. do i need to enable something in dvb dream to get the loop out to work correctly?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

Hopper 3 with Hopper plus internet connection problems

Over the past few weeks, I have had problems connecting to streaming services (Netflix, HBO et al). When I go to the TV's native Channels, I have no problem. The Dish internet troubleshooter shows I have a good internet connection. I'm wondering whether it's an issue with my internet provider or a problem with the Dish software on the Hopper Plus. Anyone else seeing this?

I have a DISH Hopper 3 (Software H713) with Hopper Plus (Software P15403). I have not tried streaming services but I primarily watch TVB Jadeworld international package which is only available by streaming and when I have an issue, I usually have to go to a non-streaming satellite channel first before the streaming channels will work again. What software versions do you have and what is the error message if any are showing on your screen? or is that Dish downloading logo just stuck and never finishes?

I'm on H713 on the Hopper and P15403 on the Hopper Plus. It shows internet connection issues and doesn't finish loading the various services. I see the "loading circle going around. Sometimes I get a message saying that the service is having trouble loading my content and to check the internet connection.

Did it ever work correctly before? Hard to say what the problem is. Usually for streaming, it will show the Dish logo with lines sweeping down to show downloading, never seen the circle issue. Did you try a manual reboot, red button reset, power cord unplug/replug to see if it makes a difference.

Might be worth just to ditch the hopper plus. No issues here on h713

Buy a roku and dump the hopper plus you'll be better off. If you have a smart tv you don't need either one. No hopper plus here and no issues!!!
