I have a Dish 1000 and vip622, with no switch at all in my setup. I have a DP Plus dual head LNB and a Dish Pro single.

I'm getting a -8 drift on the 129 satellite (I'm stuck at the 015 screen, acquiring satellite signal) and DN is sending a tech out with a quad LNB replacement but that won't be for another week. Weird thing is when I check signal strength in the point dish menu, my signal for 129 t10 is perfectly fine as is the other two sats, 119 and 110.

Is there a way for me to turn off the 129 LNB and get the stations available from the other two satellites until DN gets here with the replacement LNB?

And, if that is possible, is there a list somewhere that will tell me which channels are available from which satellite (so I know what I won't be able to get)?

Thanks for any help! I can't believe that DN would leave me hanging for an entire week without fixing this, but what are you going to do? I've only been a full time customer of DN for almost 11 years...

Thanks again all,
George -bub

I hope you documented what you "did" to your 622. There may be others that are interested ... ;)

I hear ya'. But, I really didn't do anything this time. It was working fine one morning, ran to the store and when I returned, stuck on 015 screen. Rebooted, unplugged checked cables etc..., eventually called DN and was scheduled an appointment. A week later guy shows up and replaces both LNB's, same story. Unplugs the receiver and reboots it, same story. Checks all the cabling, same story. Replaced with 722 and everything works. When he called in to get the new receiver activated, he caught some flak from whoever was on the other end of the line. I could hear them complaining about installing a 722 for a defective 622. He said that he didn't have any 622's anymore because they (DN I guess) discontinued them.

Just got lucky I guess.

One thing though, I'm still missing my local channel information. Seems like it should have come in by now, it's been 96 hours. Anybody know how to force it to load the local off air channel guide?

How odd. I NEVER install 622s anymore because there are limited work orders that call for them, and I don't want them rattling around in my van for a week, or have to deal with returning them to the warehouse. I always install 722s, and not once have I gotten hassled by the call center. I wonder if the tech who came out was a sub. I hear they hassle them more than us. Or it could have been an incompetant CSR. Imagine that.

I too have quite regularly replaced a bad 622 with 722. Sometimes because the warehouse doesn't even have a 622, sometimes because I just don't have a 622 (or didn't order any). I have never had anyone give me a problem with this. In fact, even DASH lets me do it with no CSR necessary.

I detest DASH. I use the workaround.

Same thing here. You didn't notice if it was right after the 5.11 upgrade did you?

I was stuck on screen 015 (acquiring signal) forever.

All my Check switches came out fine and system status reported good. Just could not get through the acquire signal screen.

I had even plugged in an older receiver and it connected fine.

I Did every kind of reset available and tried every cable combination including going directly into the back from my 61.5 but nothing worked.

Last thing I tried was to bypass the sw21's and ran my 110/119 cables into the receiver. After my check switch and going to acquiring signal it was still trying to connect to the 61.5 sat during that process so I then reset "Factory Defaults" and then it acquired satellites 110/119 and downloaded the guide.

I then turned it off hooked it back up through my SW21's, ran check switch and acquired satellite. Now I can cancel my visit!

I think it was the "Reset To Factory Defaults" that did it and I'm pretty confident that it occured after the 5.11 upgrade. Now I have to figure out how to get my HDMI working again, moving the box around to switch cables caused it to go out!

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

I like the Jimmy Fallon channel. This will be its third year. I like that it's all fresh each year. Also fun when he pops on live from time to time.

Terrible tragedy. You would think that they would have safe guards in place that would prevent something like this from happening. I guess if you are going to ride in a passenger train it might be best to get a car near the rear.

They will have to look at the switching sections to determine WHY 2 trains were on the same track ... at the same time.
