I want to be able to watch the 1080p and as I've heard it only accepts HDMI cables. I have a 52' Samsung connected to a 722. If I were to buy a HDMI cable would it anyway effect the audio or quality of this crystal clear Samsung and how? And what type of HDMI cable would you recommend for my setup?

Yeah, it will effect the picture and sound. It will make it better.

not true.

Answer is it may be the same, better or worse. A lot of TVs have different internal settings for the different inputs so you might see differences in the PQ. And a bunch of people have reported washed out colors via HDMI vs component (me being one but I was able to fix the problem in my TV service menu).

So the only one that can say there is a difference is you. :)

Well, it is certainly true for me. Otherwise I wouldn't have said it. All things equal, HDMI *should* provide you with a better picture then analog component cables.

All things being equal, they should be the same. There is nothing about HDMI that makes it better than component.

So I am wrong in thinking that a digital HD connection(HDMI) is better then an analog HD connection(component)?

The connection is neither better nor worse. It has little to do with the final image result, it just conducts the data to the display.

If the video processing chipset only provides 8 bit processing for HDMI but 10 bit processing for component, your component may very well look better.

Early on, you could claim that sending digital data straight to a digital display in digital format would be better than converting digital data to an analog format that then must be converted back to digital data in the display. That's not necessarily so anymore.

The only reason i want this HDMI setup is for the 1080p. Because i click rent it says r u sure you want to order this i dont click anything then i wait like 5-7 seconds then it says you are not compatible. If i click the confirmation before it says you are not compatible will it charge me? And what should i look for if i know my 1080 p works?

The above was true for me also. I was using HDMI with my 622 and noticed that switching between the TV and 622 while viewing local HDTV via antenna proved the 622 looked a bit washed out.

Last week, I left the HDMI in and connected component. The component looks very much like the cripser image I got with my antenna going straight to the tv. Both inputs have the same image settings. I've been in the service menu many times to tweak the picture.

I've read on here that the 722's HDMI provides better image quality. Not surprising as it's newer. I'll stick with component for now. 1080P via DISH isn't important to me as my HDTV doesn't do 1080P/24 anyway.

How can you find out what it goes to on your tv? you know 1080p/?

Don't know if any of you have watched this series yet, it would be interesting to see if you feel this review was accurate. It was very humorous to listen to however.

If the review is like the article, oi! Eighteen paragraphs into the review and... all they've done is not really talk at all about the actual thing they are reviewing.

Halfway into the "written" review, I know more about how the writer "thinks" than I do about what they are writing about. I understand their politics, their self-overestimated understanding of film, their inability to be funny.

Takes about 22 paragraphs to get to one that starts "Anyway, the story kicks off...". Talk about Slop! 😂

Season 2 order already in hand:

'Star Trek: Starfleet Academy' Renewed for Season 2, Tatiana Maslany to Guest Star in Season 1

I've not been optimistic about this show based on what I've read so far. Seems to be aimed at a younger audience. Interesting though that Tatiana Maslany will have some sort of role.

I'm sure I will watch at least the first episode but I am not optimistic.
Here i am over a year later and just finished season 1. Not great but not as bad as I was expecting. Did not care for the barefoot captain stuff but overall ok. Actually looking forward to see what they did for season 2.

Yeah, the foot stuff was just nasty. I kept thinking of how dirty her feet would get traipsing around shoe-less. Funny, I love being shoe less at home and never wear shoes indoors in my home for long, but seeing her laying on all her furniture with her bare feet hanging out just kind of grossed me out.

Where would this "dirt" come from? Dead skin and dandruff?

There would still be dirt ,dust in the future I am sure. So walking around the station like she did she would get stuff on her feet. I am sure the robot vacuum is still going to miss stuff, with all those different alien species running around there.

Where is it going to come from -- specifically?

Why do you think cleaning technology won't improve in the next few hundred years? HEPA filtration was invented as part of the Manhattan Project.

I don't know, but I still don't like her walking through the station or the academy with out her shoes. It looks unprofessional and very "hippy like" for someone of her status and I personally don't get off to feet, so there is that. ;)

Stay out of my office. I rarely have shoes or socks on in the office. My office and business is at home though :clapping

Say, I don't wear socks or shoes in my house either. But for a captain in Star Fleet it looks bad to be walking around the academy with no shoes. Gives off 1960 Hippie vibes.

Well, look at the way she sat in the Captain's Chair. I didn't say the show should have been called "Captain Chair-Whore" for nothing...

For a whole generation of adults it was in the 1960s and 1970s.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....
