Well as an outgrowth and by-product of acquiring a Short-Wave radio to use with my BLSA, I got the bright idea to do some exploring on the radio just for listening.
I couldn't get anything with my little rinky-dink circle antenna here inside the building, so I read up on making my own "long wire" antenna.
Bought 50 feet of 14 guage insulated stranded copper wire, and read up about using coax to bringing the signal into the house. So I made up the wire and coax, and had my son help me take two "stands" that I already had and modified them with some PVC pipe and put on insulators to string the wire.
End result, I am right now listening to the sweet Christian sounds of WRNO Short-Wave at 7.505 Mhz. I don't know where they are transmitting from, but it is coming in with a great signal and good sound on my Kenwood R-600.
Just heard they are broadcasting from New Orleans.
Stopped by Radio Shack today and picked up the parts (they actually had them there
) and pieces to build my very first electronics project, a static zapper. 
I have read where they are a must especially using a DX-440 which should be here in another day or two.
I need to put a center support on the wire. It is drooping pretty bad, and there is a good bit of strain on the PVC pipes screwed onto the pipe stands.

I went to the HAM club breakfast yesterday morning down in the city. I had been to this same club about a year ago at the invitation of my HAM buddy.
We talked a bit about a possible venture that I may start at my business. The antenna maker offered to make me a dealer when he was here the other day, and my wife and I have been tossing it around for a few days.
I asked the opinions of the guys who were there and got both positive and negative views about selling ham/shortwave equipment on consignment. All agreed there was a need in the St. Louis area, and they all became more positive when I mentioned possibly mixing that business with selling some fta equipment. Kind of a joint sales effort. Both hobbies are all about scanning the skies for signals.
When I mentioned that WRN could be picked up via Galaxy 25 with a fixed 36" dish and an inexpensive FTA receiver of some kind, the interest really picked up. I also mentioned the 150 or so TV channels on that same satellite with TV news from several places around the globe, they really got interested.
The guy who had come out last Saturday to see my FTA setup had me stop by his house on my way home and do a site survey for G25. Looked to me like he was good to go and I expect him to make a purchase soon. BTW, he had an antenna that stretched over half of his house and his neighbors house. It was on an expandable tower and was about 25 feet up when I saw it, but he said it had a motor that would raise it up another 50 feet when he wanted to use it.
They did say that HAM/Shortwave attendance and new people were showing a slight increase over the last year or so.
So it looks like I will be studying for a HAM license and finding a HAM club closer to me. I'll let everyone know when my new venture is official.

I've not been optimistic about this show based on what I've read so far. Seems to be aimed at a younger audience. Interesting though that Tatiana Maslany will have some sort of role.

I don't know, but I still don't like her walking through the station or the academy with out her shoes. It looks unprofessional and very "hippy like" for someone of her status and I personally don't get off to feet, so there is that.

The future of Stargate is in question today, as SCI FI Channel has cancelled the long-running Stargate SG-1, Multichannel News reported today and a GateWorld source has confirmed. The news regrettably follows the airing of the show's milestone two-hundredth episode on Friday.
Stargate Atlantis, meanwhile, has been renewed for a fourth season, with the network hoping to see that the spin-off series can stand alone, according to a source.
