I thought it might be interesting to have a standard thread that could be used for MRV discussion. Receivers will have this capabilities rolled out over the next little bit and we will have discussion all over the place. This could be used as a what you like, want to see and general thoughts on the offering.

(Issues should still be reported in the CE release threads.)

Like
  1. I really like the ability to watch the recorded material on my bedrooms TV.
  2. Picture quality. HD still looks amazing on a remote system.
  3. Soon I will have 10 tuners to record material and watch anywhere. :)

Want
  1. Need to give a way to give a nickname to your DVR's. It will be difficult to know what DVR is what if you have multiple ones.
  2. Remote program delete.
  3. Remote program recording. (I know that this can be done on-line but it would be nice to be able to set a recording from a remote receiver.)

Thoughts

So far I have to say that this has been the best feature that Directv has released. It is so easy to use and works pretty good for a first release. There are a few bugs to work out but that is understandable since this is the first release. I should never have to worry about not being able to record a show again and not be able to watch it where I want.

All I can say now is BRING ON THE HR20 AND R22!!!! Once this is done I will be all setup for years to come. I can now see this as now being the biggest advantage of all between the HR series and the 622/722.

Are there plans so that MRV enabled boxes could share and off-load recording queues?

Lets say I have 2 HR boxes and 1 has both tuners in use, but I have a show set to record, could it offload that recording request to the other box?

That would be fantastic. I really hope directv implements your idea. With networked DVRs they could be setup to be seen as a single 4+ tuner machine.

I finally got this going last night with Rad's help. what a cool feature. i know there is audio and video issues but at times it worked perfectly for a few minutes. I hope D continues to work on this.

I have never been able to successfully get MRV to work or show up on my HR20-100 & HR22-100 DVRs. Can someone give a step by step on how to setup the 2 DVRs to see each other's recordings. Also, can you tell a DVR to record to a different DVR in the home? I have my network wired with Cat5e to each unit and all ports are forwarded to the correct IP addesses and confirmed when running a network test on the DVRs it passes. Now it still does not see each DVR only the local machine you are at, I need help. Thanks.

DVR to DVR isn't supported yet, only a HR2X to a H21-100 or H21-200.

Wow, I have been using ReplayTV units all throughout my house over my network for over 7 years flawlessly machine to machine, room to room, it even asks me which machine do I want to record my show on. But they do not play in HDTV. I purchased the the best DVR's I could find from DTV and I am not impressed. I hope they get MRV technology working soon or at least the rights they purchased from ReplayTV come through soon. I just purchased (3) more H23NC-600 receivers, If I get these on my network will I at least be able to see the one DVR unit on my network from each receiver and can I have two different receivers playing back shows from the same DVR at the same time?

But.....if you like Tulsa King....looks like you would probably like this as well. I don't mind spin-offs as long as they don't involve a sassy niece who moves from the big city

I thought I would come here and find lots of complaints about the update to the dish anywhere mobile app, but am not seeing any. It used to look just like the desktop webpage. Now you can no longer filter by sports channels or movie channels. Plus that they made it look like a big button telephone and you see fewer channels in the screen which requires more scrolling. Yes I realize you can look at sports then select which sport you want to look at, I just liked being able to see all sporting events in the guide with all other channels being filtered out. Am I alone in the wilderness on this?

I'm not a big fan of the new layout, especially on my Apple TV. It used to look like the old Guide layout on the Hopper 3, but they changed parts of that, too.

You don't like Tony, or Tony as the Director (he's only been there for 30 seconds now) or you don't like NCIS ?

No. Bring in someone new.🤔 Tony is not serious enough for me. Parker is too close to the team and Tim is too young to take over IMO.

I don't think Tim and Tony are that far apart in Age ...

Remember what Tony said to Tim when they first got back together ...
Tony said: I am the New Tony, Tim .... (something to that effect)

Tony has changed, he's been running his Security Business ... I'm sure he has grown up.

Give it time ... your judging the New Tony from the old Tony.

It sounds like Tim won't be around the Team much longer either.

Might be worth a watch when it comes out. Looks like typical big corp against the little guy movie BUT....there is a reason this plot type is so oft repeated, it draws audiences.

If you're going try to read / listen to the book (can't recommend the audio book enough) before this comes out, I'd avoid trailers.

Trailer below, spoiling it to make sure you read the above bold message first. The book / audio book are fantastic. Go into this blind if you can IMO!

Kind of disappointed at how much they show. A lot still to see, but man, some good reveals in the book that are just served up here.

I've seen it twice. Can't recommend the audio book enough, Ray Porter's performance is amazing and there's so much more in the book than the movie.

Forgot to comment. I did watch when it first came out on MGM. I enjoyed it a lot. I think reading the book made it easier to watch. Several friends commented it was a little hard to follow.

I agree. That can go for pretty much any book vs movie. Back when I was single I would read any Stephen King or John Grisham book I could get my hands on. When you read a book you make up the scenes and characters in your mind.....the movie version always disappoints.

A big win for the Patriots, and they are now 3-2.

Browns lose a close one with... The Jets. That is a classic Browns loss (granted, any loss is a classic one it seems). 49'ers, Vikings, and Chiefs remain undefeated. The AFC north have a three way tie at 3-2 for second place.

I had quit watching this show years ago because I ended up more annoyed than entertained. Well......I'm STILL more annoyed than entertained. I DO find it interesting to see how things work behind the scenes at many businesses. What annoys me is how utterly out of touch CEOs are with the companies they run. At the end of almost every episode the head of the company is amazed at how hard the employees have to work and many times have to work around impossible guidelines set forth from headquarters.

I found this one interesting because the new CEO had big plans for this company, Muscle Maker Grill, and it looked like the stores were all pretty busy. Recent history hasn't been good to this company however. I bet the covid lockdowns were the real killer.
