I am interested in getting E*'s HDTV offer for one of the HDTV monitor and receiver.
I am a current Subscriber. I know the offer was originally $999 and they have dropped it to $799.

Is the offer available for Current subscribers? Will it be $999 or $799.

If it is only available for new first time subscribers would this senerio work??? We just bought a new house and are moving in the next 2 weeks.
The E* account has been under my name since we have had it for the last year and half. Can I open a new account in my wife's name at our new address and Dish think that it is a new account?? My wife's name is not on my account and we are moving to a totally new address. Would this workaround work??

Also, I have read the opinions about the HDTV's that Dish offers. Please don't tell me how bad they suck and how I should get something different. I have a small budget and If I don't take this offer, I will not be able to get HDTV for another year to 2 years. I want to go ahead and get one of these TV's and then hopefully upgrade in a few years.

Which one would you recomend? the 34 or the 40 inch. It will go in the corner of a room that will have a normal maximum viewing range of 15-20 feet with the kitchen also looking towards the kitchen another 20-25 feet behind the couch that is at `15-20 feet..

Sorry for the long post, but I did have a lot of questions about this..

Oh, one more thing,
I need the 105 superdish for my locals, would this come with this offer also?

Good New and Bad News

Good News and Bad News..

I decided that I am going to go ahead and go with the 34" Direct View HDTV.

I called *E today to see about getting set up.
The main 800 number gave me another number to call, so I did.

No, in addition to the HDTV in a box deal, I need to get upgraded to A superdish so that I can receive my local channels.

I decided that I would do the morally right thing and not try to get around the whole existing subscriber/new subscriber thing and just go through my current account.

I am set up for a dish mover/superdish upgrade for Tuesday morning.

Also I did get some good news because they told me that the HDTV deal was $799. Even as a current subscriber. So, I was making a big deal out of the $200 for nothing. The website still lists the deal when you go through your account as $999, but they told me on the phone that it was $799!! YEAH

The Bad news is that they were not able to schedule an install/delivery for the HDTV AND schedule a Dish mover promotion at the same time. I was told that they could do the Two work orders at the same time. I was told that after I get the superdish installed, I would be able to call back and schedule the HDTV offer. I was put on hold 3 or 4 times with the gentleman I was speaking with so that he could (supposedly) speak with his supervisor about this. I was ready with my credit card to give them the $799 to get this done tonight.

So, I guess I will be back on the phone with them after Tuesday morning's superdish install.

Congrats! I'm sure we will be hearing your praises (or complaints) soon enough. :)

Personally I would go with the Direct-view TV. There is several reasons, but most of all, you don't have to worry about damaged screens or buying protective screens.

The SD on my 40" is considerably better than it was on my Sanyo 25" TV. And I think the 34" would have even better PQ than the 40". And of course the HD is great on my 40" TV. I've compared it to my friends Mitsubishi HDTV and I couldn't tell a difference!

There is nothing wrong with RCA, ALL TV's break, ALL TV's have their problems, and etc... So, remember if you go out and find a more expensive TV, you won't really be gaining that much in PQ or peace of mind unless you go big. If you are going to spend $1000-3500 you would be better off getting a Plasma, LCD, or a DLP.

I can only say what I have experienced, the RCA 40" TV is great, I don't have any problems with the PQ, features, etc... There is nothing wrong with getting the HD in a Box deal, for the price it's worth it. The saying of what you pay for is what you get, well for me it exceeds what I payed for.

From what I understand, the 40" RPTV IS a DLP.

If that were a DLP, Dish would have sold TONS of them at that price.

Could someone go over the pros and cons of the direct view vs. the projection?
Are there usually any glare problems or problems with angle of view?

Thanks for the info everyone!
For me without question if i had it to do over I would go with a 34" tube over 40 REAR

I have a 42" RP MITSI it is fine on HD but my 27" Samsung Tube for all the digital chanels has a much brighter and better colors than the Mitsi.

Also must consider I understand both of those sets are RCA I doubt many on this board would have RCA on the other hand I was just at Circiut City Sat you can not find many if any 34" HD sets at 799 that part is great

I like the Jimmy Fallon channel. This will be its third year. I like that it's all fresh each year. Also fun when he pops on live from time to time.

Terrible tragedy. You would think that they would have safe guards in place that would prevent something like this from happening. I guess if you are going to ride in a passenger train it might be best to get a car near the rear.

They will have to look at the switching sections to determine WHY 2 trains were on the same track ... at the same time.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

It's probably been 2 decades since I've listened to an AM radio station. Very rarely listen to FM any more.

That goes for a lot of people. I've been advertising on radio for more than a decade now and am very familiar with this subject. While it is still a valuable tool, it has far less impact than it did just a few years ago. The best reaction I get is from a local Country music station....they play a mix of older and newer music and have a very big footprint.

Do you do any Ad's on Satellite ?

If Not, why not, because it's not Local ?

No, just regular FM stations. One is the country station I mentioned and the other is a Talk Radio station which used to get fantastic results but honestly, since the death of Rush Limbaugh, talk radio just doesn't do as well. There were two guys who had an early morning show which was hugely popular here in the southeast but one of them retired a couple years ago and the show just doesn't garner the same numbers as it used to.

You knew the answer before you asked it.

I can't recall having encountered a local ad on Sirius, and I don't imagine it is any different on XM.

For those dazn nba channels are they sat only or sat & streaming
K
Both, and they just made it official with a multiyear deal that also includes TV Everywhere authentication for the DAZN app, and commercial distribution.

DIRECTV, the premier provider of digital television entertainment in the United States, and DAZN, the world's leading sports entertainment platform, today announced a new multi-year distribution agreement for local telecasts of Cleveland Cavaliers, Indiana Pacers, Memphis Grizzlies, Minnesota Timberwolves, and San Antonio Spurs games for DIRECTV streaming, satellite, and U-verse customers in each team's respective NBA-designated home territories.

These DAZN telecasts will be available to DIRECTV customers who subscribe to the Choice or higher packages and to U-verse TV customers who subscribe to the U200 or higher package. Each of DAZN's team services provides live pregame, postgame, and in-game coverage for the respective team.

In the coming weeks, customers who receive access to these teams via DIRECTV will also be able to login to the DAZN platform at no additional cost using their DIRECTV login credentials.

This agreement also provides distribution rights to each of the five NBA teams to all of DIRECTV FOR BUSINESS' thousands of sports bars, restaurants, fitness clubs, and other commercial venues located within each team's respective region.
