depending where feed research comes from, often a small number is listed not a frequency.

I don't know how to change the number to a freq so I can scan it.

is there a book or something?

thanks

So what do those 1 and 2 digit numbers represent?

So what do those 1 and 2 digit numbers represent?
Frequency range and Polarity
The odd numbered are one polarity and the even are the opposite polarity

What I have trouble remembering is if an Analog NTSC channel/transponder over Satellite is 20 MHz wide or 30 MHz wide as well as if the transponders are stepped or not between polarities. It makes a difference for my example.

Code:
Stepped Verision
note: I used 30MHz here- not bothered enough to fix it. It's an EXAMPLE

Transponder 1 | 11700-11729MHz Vertical
Transponder 2 | 11715-11744MHz Horizontal
Transponder 3 | 11730-11759MHz Vertical
Transponder 4 | 11745-11774MHz Horizontal
...... (I'm fudging it below here...)......
Transponder 31 | 12145-12175MHz Vertical
Transponder 32 | 12170-12199MHz Horizontal
Oh well Wikipedia and the owner say 36MHz per transponder.

Okay now I'll work out the non-stepped version in it's fullest since I've yet to come across a chart of these.

Code:
Straight transponder-frequency list
With IF (coax line frequency) assuming L.O. of 10750 for Ku FSS 11700-12200
Transponder 1 | 11700-11736MHz Vertical | ( 950- 986MHz)
Transponder 2 | 11700-11736MHz Horizontal | ( 950- 986MHz)
Transponder 3 | 11737-11773MHz Vertical | ( 987-1023MHz)
Transponder 4 | 11737-11773MHz Horizontal | ( 987-1023MHz)
Transponder 5 | 11774-11810MHz Vertical | (1024-1060MHz)
Transponder 6 | 11774-11810MHz Horizontal | (1024-1060MHz)
Transponder 7 | 11811-11847MHz Vertical | (1061-1097MHz)
Transponder 8 | 11811-11847MHz Horizontal | (1061-1097MHz)
Transponder 9 | 11848-11884MHz Vertical | (1098-1134MHz)
Transponder 10 | 11848-11884MHz Horizontal | (1098-1134MHz)
Transponder 11 | 11885-11921MHz Vertical | (1135-1171MHz)
Transponder 12 | 11885-11921MHz Horizontal | (1135-1171MHz)
Transponder 13 | 11922-11958MHz Vertical | (1172-1208MHz)
Transponder 14 | 11922-11958MHz Horizontal | (1172-1208MHz)
Transponder 15 | 11959-11995MHz Vertical | (1209-1245MHz)

Transponder 25 | 12144-12180MHz Vertical | (1394-1430MHz)
Transponder 26 | 12144-12180MHz Horizontal | (1394-1430MHz)
Transponder 27 | 12181-12217MHz Vertical | (1431-1467MHz)
Transponder 28 | 12181-12217MHz Horizontal | (1431-1467MHz)
Hoorah :o I'm an idiot. I'm tired and I missed something really important because that should have ended on 12200MHz (1450MHz) and the analog boxes I have used only have 24 transponders :( :D

Remember that H2 @ 74°W only has the first 16 transponders available. Well 4 more are double-wide 72MHz transponders and I Have no idea which ones those are on H2

Disclaimer: This is only what I understand from what I've read. Any real experts on the subject want to correct me, I would love to read what they have to say.
Alot of my ranting, like this, is me collecting and organizing my understanding into something readable/writeable/speakable.

Frequency range and Polarity
The odd numbered are one polarity and the even are the opposite polarity
While that's usually the case now, it did used to allways be true. For example, those crazy Canadians (:)) used to number like 1-16 one polarity, and 17-32 the other polarity. Even now, I've seen some exceptions to the odd/even way of telling polarity. But in general, yes.

I don't think your examples are correct. For C-band analog transponders are pretty simple, and even though there isn't much analog left, the transponders are still pretty much the same. Ie transponders 1 thru 5 might be:
(1) 3700-3740 center freq 3720 V
(2) 3720-3760 center freq 3740 H
(3) 3740-3780 center freq 3760 V
(4) 3760-3800 center freq 3780 H
(5) 3780-3820 center freq 3800 V

etc, etc . Ie they overlap. Each transponder is about 36 MHz wide, centered in the 40 MHz band. The overlap used to be more meaninful in analog days.

Ku band is more complicated, because most Ku sats are a mixture of different width transponders, but in the end, it is very similar.

Generally, you can go to the web page of the sat owner to get the frequency charts.

For example:
SES AMERICOM - C-band
SES AMERICOM - Ku-band

There used to be bunches of nice charts on the web, but they are getting harder to find. I've collected some of the old ones.

The Anik sats are still like that. AnikF1 is 1-16 V and 17-32 H

So they were "stepped/staggard" like I thought. It was that 36MHz usable in a 40MHz slot that I think got me.
But that chart was more of a mental exercise for me. Thank you B.J. for clearing that whole mess up

so how do I clean these up?

Level3 Teleport Denver

105w (amc15) 11739 H 21976

ses americom

105w (amc18) 11999 V 29981

or are they blank all the time
M
what do you mean clean up? Like IF channel?

take the frequency and subtract your LNB LO frequency. SO if a standard then
11739-10750 = 989

or if a Universal then its 10600
11739-10600 = 1139

I have seen if I tweek the freq or sr I can get a picture sometimes.

I can't get a pic but I have nice quality

But.....if you like Tulsa King....looks like you would probably like this as well. I don't mind spin-offs as long as they don't involve a sassy niece who moves from the big city

I thought I would come here and find lots of complaints about the update to the dish anywhere mobile app, but am not seeing any. It used to look just like the desktop webpage. Now you can no longer filter by sports channels or movie channels. Plus that they made it look like a big button telephone and you see fewer channels in the screen which requires more scrolling. Yes I realize you can look at sports then select which sport you want to look at, I just liked being able to see all sporting events in the guide with all other channels being filtered out. Am I alone in the wilderness on this?

I'm not a big fan of the new layout, especially on my Apple TV. It used to look like the old Guide layout on the Hopper 3, but they changed parts of that, too.

You don't like Tony, or Tony as the Director (he's only been there for 30 seconds now) or you don't like NCIS ?

No. Bring in someone new.🤔 Tony is not serious enough for me. Parker is too close to the team and Tim is too young to take over IMO.

I don't think Tim and Tony are that far apart in Age ...

Remember what Tony said to Tim when they first got back together ...
Tony said: I am the New Tony, Tim .... (something to that effect)

Tony has changed, he's been running his Security Business ... I'm sure he has grown up.

Give it time ... your judging the New Tony from the old Tony.

It sounds like Tim won't be around the Team much longer either.

Might be worth a watch when it comes out. Looks like typical big corp against the little guy movie BUT....there is a reason this plot type is so oft repeated, it draws audiences.

If you're going try to read / listen to the book (can't recommend the audio book enough) before this comes out, I'd avoid trailers.

Trailer below, spoiling it to make sure you read the above bold message first. The book / audio book are fantastic. Go into this blind if you can IMO!

Kind of disappointed at how much they show. A lot still to see, but man, some good reveals in the book that are just served up here.

I agree. That can go for pretty much any book vs movie. Back when I was single I would read any Stephen King or John Grisham book I could get my hands on. When you read a book you make up the scenes and characters in your mind.....the movie version always disappoints.

A big win for the Patriots, and they are now 3-2.

Browns lose a close one with... The Jets. That is a classic Browns loss (granted, any loss is a classic one it seems). 49'ers, Vikings, and Chiefs remain undefeated. The AFC north have a three way tie at 3-2 for second place.

I had quit watching this show years ago because I ended up more annoyed than entertained. Well......I'm STILL more annoyed than entertained. I DO find it interesting to see how things work behind the scenes at many businesses. What annoys me is how utterly out of touch CEOs are with the companies they run. At the end of almost every episode the head of the company is amazed at how hard the employees have to work and many times have to work around impossible guidelines set forth from headquarters.

I found this one interesting because the new CEO had big plans for this company, Muscle Maker Grill, and it looked like the stores were all pretty busy. Recent history hasn't been good to this company however. I bet the covid lockdowns were the real killer.
