Does any one know the order of priority as to which satellite is used if a channel appears on multiple satellites?

I know that the 129 takes priority over 118.75. I know this because the Detroit locals are available on both the 118 and 129 but my system defaults to the 129 (even though I can not pickup the spotbeam on which they are located) over the 118.

Does the 61.5 take priority over 118? What about 61.5 vs 129?

I understanding is that there is no way to change the priority, so it would be nice to know what it is.

Thanks in advance.

129 has priority over 61.5 or 118.7. 61.5 has priority over 118.7. It would be really nice to be able to assign which sat for which channel but that may never happen.

Yes it would. It is extremely frustrating to be able to receive the satellite (118) that has the locals I want to watch but not be able to watch them, without trading in all HD programming, because the receiver is trying to pull them from a spotbeam that that I can't get.

Thanks for the info.

Been there done that too.

Disconnect one of the sats from the switch, rerun checkswitch, reconnect the disconnected satellite, rerun checkswitch a second time, save results, now go to signal meter select the satellite and then the transponder you want to have priority, exit out and let it acquire using the satellite you just selected.

If that doesnt work follow steps again and before you exit out disconnect the one satellite lead from the satellite that you dont want to have priority but dont rerun checkswitch, then once guide is acquired reconnect satellite lead.

I have used this technique to give priority to ch 598 @ 118, instead of ch 598 @ 61.5 which is horribly overcompressed. The priority is assigned based on the satellite and tp your receiver used to acquire the channel guides after power failure, reboot or checkswitch, there is a way to overcome it though.

Tried this but didn't work at least when I had 129 & 118.7. 129 always won out over 118.7.

After a checkswitch reset procedure, on the signal meter select the transponder on 118 that has your locals, disconnect 129 into switcher, do not rerun checkswitch, make sure you are still on 118 locals tp on signal meter then exit out, also specifically try 118 tp 3, 7, or 30.

For rain fade reasons we should be able to have both loaded, I once had an old 3000 till about 2006 that used to load both channel 596 from 61.5 and 148 and all the duplicates so I would have 2 of each channel in the guide and could change channels if it was raining in one direction. I think this was later changed in a software update because of maximum channel in guide limits.

Have you done this with VIP series receiver?

Don't know if any of you have watched this series yet, it would be interesting to see if you feel this review was accurate. It was very humorous to listen to however.

If the review is like the article, oi! Eighteen paragraphs into the review and... all they've done is not really talk at all about the actual thing they are reviewing.

Halfway into the "written" review, I know more about how the writer "thinks" than I do about what they are writing about. I understand their politics, their self-overestimated understanding of film, their inability to be funny.

Takes about 22 paragraphs to get to one that starts "Anyway, the story kicks off...". Talk about Slop! 😂

Season 2 order already in hand:

'Star Trek: Starfleet Academy' Renewed for Season 2, Tatiana Maslany to Guest Star in Season 1

I've not been optimistic about this show based on what I've read so far. Seems to be aimed at a younger audience. Interesting though that Tatiana Maslany will have some sort of role.

I'm sure I will watch at least the first episode but I am not optimistic.
Here i am over a year later and just finished season 1. Not great but not as bad as I was expecting. Did not care for the barefoot captain stuff but overall ok. Actually looking forward to see what they did for season 2.

Yeah, the foot stuff was just nasty. I kept thinking of how dirty her feet would get traipsing around shoe-less. Funny, I love being shoe less at home and never wear shoes indoors in my home for long, but seeing her laying on all her furniture with her bare feet hanging out just kind of grossed me out.

There would still be dirt ,dust in the future I am sure. So walking around the station like she did she would get stuff on her feet. I am sure the robot vacuum is still going to miss stuff, with all those different alien species running around there.

Where is it going to come from -- specifically?

Why do you think cleaning technology won't improve in the next few hundred years? HEPA filtration was invented as part of the Manhattan Project.

I don't know, but I still don't like her walking through the station or the academy with out her shoes. It looks unprofessional and very "hippy like" for someone of her status and I personally don't get off to feet, so there is that. ;)

Stay out of my office. I rarely have shoes or socks on in the office. My office and business is at home though :clapping

Say, I don't wear socks or shoes in my house either. But for a captain in Star Fleet it looks bad to be walking around the academy with no shoes. Gives off 1960 Hippie vibes.

Well, look at the way she sat in the Captain's Chair. I didn't say the show should have been called "Captain Chair-Whore" for nothing...

For a whole generation of adults it was in the 1960s and 1970s.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....
