yep went out there and checked at 9:00 this morning. There was only a little snow on top of the LNB's and a coating on the dish. Wiped them off and still nothing. The KU dishes didnt come back until almost noon when the snow let up.

This was a weird snowfall. We had thundersnow this afternoon. Because the snow was so wet it screwed up DBS. My dad called me this morning hollering "why is the dish out?" (He has Dish)...I explained same problems on D*. If it wasnt so heavy and wet we would have had 2 feet of snow. I had locals the whole time but they were at a 35 or so. For a while they were the ONLY signal showing up (my locals are on 119)

The outage was due to the storm because tonight at 5:00 my signals were still in the mid 70's...normally they are in the upper 90's. When they came back around 11:00 this morning they were in the mid 60's to low 70's (conus TP's)

So in short you had a snow slush mixture, what a bitch to shovel. If I would have to sum it up with Direct outages are created by cloud cover with heavy moisture content passing between the bird and you. And that damn 6/7 FEC. While its great for picture quality there is no room for error correction. *Choice uses 3/4 FEC and there is allot of error correction. The longest I had Direct out this summer was close to an hour with the bad rainstorms even on the 90cm. This so far is my biggest peeve with Direct. It honestly reminds me of RTN back on G-10 it went out all the time with the rain. The 90 does help to a point with Direct in fact Direct will be up when my DVB ku goes down on 101 and 97. I loose *choice fast now since I'm using a moded dish 500 with a linear LNBF and there is no wiggle room. There is one thing good about choice set up that way. All I need to do is turn on the 405 and watch the satellite icon during a storm if it turns red I figure Direct will go out eventually. If it stays green there will be no issues at all. Kinda like and early warning radar :)

Nothing like c band and the bud though. Neither rain nor sleet nor snow killed the bud to the point of unwatchable conditions in the 23 years I have been in it. Except when the wind was so wicked it moved the head and threw off my alignment. That happened maybe twice in 23 years. Not a bad record.

it was snow but very heavy slushy type snow...and yeah the dark cloud cover didnt help

today we're back to normal signal...mid to upper 90's :)

Thats interesting, My C Band would get sparkles when I got enough snow on it, I would lose signal all together when I got enough snow and slush build up on it ... Forgive me, my C Band days are long gone now (unfortunately) and I think Sparkles is the right terminology, but I think I had it wrong the last time, so I'm not sure anymore, again.

I have been running a well tuned 12 foot dish since 1989. Sparkles very seldom showed up since I had so much gain over threshold. During very bad wet snow storms the dish would continue to play no matter what. I did have to hit it with a broom to keep the snow down but it didn't go out. Unlike Direct using Ku & Ka, the sky could be dark as can be with heavy moisture clouds and pouring down in buckets or wet snow and it would stay up. I used to laugh and check my 4DTV's signal quality during a monsoon and the quality stayed maxed at 99. My Direct falls off at around 45 -50 normally I have 96-100. When the red cells come through D* is gone even using a 90cm dish on 101. This setup is easily giving me 4 to 6 db or more gain over the stock Direct setup, still ain't enough. The bottom line is 3.7 to 4.2 Ghz does not have the issues that 12 and 18 Ghz has. I wonder if a 16 foot dish with about 20db above threshold would keep direct up during those bad weather conditions?

When walmart set a price...they weigh the container and the product...the product label only shows the weight of the product...I am sure if you brought your own plastic baggies to bring the product home you could get the cheaper price

Then they are stupid. Everyone knows that the price per ounce should be the price per ounce of actual product.

Well, the bag can't weigh that much, right? But by law food product packaging must display the actual net weight of the product, i.e., the contents of the container, so by any logic, if not law, a store's stated per-ounce cost should reflect that figure. But since there's not any law regulating shelf statements, a store can say whatever it wants without violating any rules. So I guess the answer is more consumer legislation. Or simply caveat emptor.

But a box can weigh more than an ounce..maybe 2...a can might weigh 5 ounces..a bag...not much

Well, according to the price per ounce on that first bag of coffee he mentions, that would mean the bag weighed over 6 ounces. That bag does NOT weigh 6 ounces. According to Google, an empty bag weighs half an ounce.

When you go to a Deli, the weight of the container is removed, so you only pay for the weight of the product .... at least where I shop.

I would think that the Vendor/Maker of the product would have a say in it, showing the Correct weight ...
You would think it would be in the contract.

I do look at the ounces of items, but unless its way off, I don't check the math, may have to start now.

Remember when you use to get a 13.5 oz bag of Chips .... Thats a PARTY Size now.

That was part of the Ergen scheme, to sell the product as well as the service. And who didn't want the best box?

Maybe they went to the hopper because they were running out of 3-digit model #s- 1022 would have been kinda clunky. Folks would have tried to say "one-thousand and twenty two" instead of "ten-twenty-two".

Like some say "two thousand and twenty six".

That's not really unusual. Cable companies like to the provide the box too. The phone company provided the phones in until the government forced them to allow third-party phones.

Yes the Cowboys owner needs to fire the general manager (himself), co-owner, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Executive Vice President, Director of Player Personnel, and President of AT&T Stadium (his son) and then he should jump off of a cliff. Only then can they recover.

Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson had an argument about who was responsible for the dynasty building of the early 90's Cowboys.

The rest of us figured it out in about 3 years, Jerry has had over 30 years but still can't admit it. It's all he lives for, to show everyone he can put together a winner. I don't think he can. His kids only know what he taught them.

I was a devout Cowboy fan in the Landry era, grudgingly gave Jimmy his due, since then not so much, the Jones family took care of that...

WCWW/25 CW South Bend and WBKP/5 CW Marquette are now testing on the stream server. These are both already available on satellite.

Now live in the satellite guide:
663-2 PISTONS (663-1 is likely being reserved for an overflow feed of Detroit Sportsnet, if there's a 2027 MLB season)
675 THUNDER
693 CLIPPERS

Wait…..
So even though DAZN keeps touting 'only way to see games' if you are a subscriber to Choice (like my stepdad) if an agreement is reached he can see the Wolfies on 668?
I know the Wild are in dispute and a slate is on 668-1.

They're finally live in the app's API, doing a check

PISTONS is not available in Detroit (WMYD/20), it is available in the rest of Michigan including Marquette who also gets the games on their MyNet station WJMN/3, along with the Toledo DMA and the northern portions of the South Bend and Fort Wayne DMAs.

THUNDER is available in OKC and Tulsa, so I wonder if DTV is just going to keep the OTA feeds of KSBI/52 and KQCW/19 and direct viewers to 675 for the rest of the games.
On stream it's in Choice for Oklahoma (inlcuding the Oklahoma portions of the Amarillo, Sherman-Ada, Wichita Falls-Lawton and Joplin DMAs) and Western Arkansas and requires Sports Pack for Nebraska, Kansas and Western Missouri, I'm not sure if it's the same for satellite.

It appears we are not getting both home & away feeds out of market on League Pass for these teams either…

I've been watching the Spurs home feed on channel 676-1 (was part time San Antonio specific feed) out of market with NBALP for YEARS on satellite (through the multiple iterations of Fox Sports SW, Bally Sports SW, FanDuel Sports SW) Looks like that will not happen unless a deal is reached with DAZN. I do see the placeholder channel on 680 if it happens.

Center Ice does have the non-carried feeds, including the Hurricanes, Wild, Blues and Blue Jackets and spotbeam local only teams like the Panthers, Mammoth and Golden Knights. So it probably depends on the available part time bandwidth each night as things they are able to provide to in market viewers in the 600s, PPV Events in the 100s and commercial events in the 9000s get priority first, along with games where neither team has a remappable feed.

Just finished S2. Watching Gary Oldman as deshvilved, dejected MI-6 agent, Jackson Lamb, is one of the best things streaming right now. Already 2 more seasons in the works. HIGHLY recommended. And yes, Mick Jagger sings the theme.

Well, the season finale went balls to the wall. Non stop action and several twisted twists. Gary Oldman at his best. Very well written and executed. Tavener owes Jackson big time. Only "if" was Jack Lowden's (River) cliffhanger, especially admin-st the buzz that he is the next James Bond in waiting.

Planning to start the new season tonight. :)
