I'm completely stuck. I have a Azbox Premium on the latest firmware but when ever I select one satellite I get the rotor swinging back and forward continuously with out end. It will not stop on one position and will keep moving until I switch across to two or three other satellites. The annoying thing the satellite position effected is 28.2E which is all the Astra Satellites and the main channels for here in the UK.

Any ideas on how to stop my dish doing a good impression of one of those sideshow circus clown games?

Abeorch,

Which firmware (by number) is it that you have installed?
Does this only happen when 28.2E is selected and all of the other satellites work properly?
Are you using a H-H motor with a smaller Ku band dish or are you using a C-Band dish in conjunction with a positioner (like a V-Box or a G-Box)?
Are you using USALS or DiSEqC 1.2 motor positioning mode?
Is this a new box and has it been doing this ever since you got it? Or is this something that just developed?

Your system's symptom is very odd to me, I have not heard of this response before. I have read a lot about problems with the dish stopping at a specific point in travel (due to east or west limits being unwantingly set after a blind scan or something). But, continuosly driving all over the arc, that is a new one for me.

I have read about a specific eastern satellite having an erroneous transponder in its list (from the factory - or resident in the firmware) that caused problems, but I am not sure if it was 28.2E.

I would go into your settings menu and look at all the setting parameters for 28.2E (I would power down first and disconnect your cable just so that your motor isn't going nuts while you investigate everything). I would scrutinize all the setup parameters for 28.2E including the motor setup area. Then I would investigate the list of transponders.

Oh! And make sure that this satellite is actually listed as 28.2E in the settings menu and not 28.2W or something else. That's a very good thing to investigate. The sat NAME may show up as 28.2E in your TV mode list, but if the orbital position is erroneously entered as something with a WEST notation in the parameters, that would definitely create a big conflict.

If you cannot find anything obvious in this research, I would re-download the firmware (to be sure you get a good copy) and then reload it into the AZBox AND perform the FORMAT APPLICATION AREA procedure. You can find instructions for doing this in the STICKIES at the top of this forum page.

Formatting the application area is not always mandatory, but the OpenBox support team recommends to do so when there are MAJOR alterations in firmware operations. I personally perform this procedure EVERY time that I update the firmware (or go backwards in firmware). Many people disagree with me because this takes extra time and I know that it does because you have to set up everything from scratch (basically). But, I am accustomed to doing so and I don't mind spending an extra 10-20 minutes to reset everything. I don't usually need to do if that often and it keeps me in practice. With situations like yours, I would recommend it.

Resetting the motor may also be a possibility, however it does not sound like motor trouble to me.

To wrap it up, unless someone else chimes in and knows precisely what the problem is, I can only suggest that you start with my ideas above to try to detect and isolate something abnormal. Good luck on this one, I hope you find something obvious right soon.

169.1°E Intelsat 2 was the satellite causing many problems in the past: It had no TP's listed on it.
I don't know if this has been corrected as of yet but I do know it has caused many people problems with the Azbox acting strangely and corrupting their satellite/channel list from time to time.

Has anyone noticed an FF stutter with 713? I used to be able to hit FF a few times and skip smoothly. After 713 (maybe 712), when I skip forward, there is a definite stutter for as many times as I have pressed FF.

Can anyone check on this and report back? Recorded programs and then press skip forward a few times to see if it's smooth? Normally, it just jumps to the right place after the skips.

I'm getting fabulous picture on Ch. 148 4k, but zero audio with H713. This is with a recorded show (Notre Dame game). Anyone else have this? Audio is fine on every other channel.

My wife mentioned that her remote is acting strange this morning. She hit FF and it went to 15x FF.

It's a known issue.
For a temporary fix, go into the menu, Audio, and turn Dolby Audio "OFF". You will have PCM stereo audio.

I was able to give the tech ops team some data logs so they could diagnose the problem, and they rolled me back to H708 temporarily. It fixed that issue.

They let me know that they understand what caused the issue, and it will be fixed within a few weeks in a new update.

Stargate SG-1 cancelled, Atlantis renewed

The future of Stargate is in question today, as SCI FI Channel has cancelled the long-running Stargate SG-1, Multichannel News reported today and a GateWorld source has confirmed. The news regrettably follows the airing of the show's milestone two-hundredth episode on Friday.

Stargate Atlantis, meanwhile, has been renewed for a fourth season, with the network hoping to see that the spin-off series can stand alone, according to a source.

I have gotten back into watching SG-1 and I have recorded most of the episodes to binge watch. What episodes are about the Antarctic or was this a movie? Also where could I watch the SG-1 movies?

Well, there are a couple involving the Antarctic. "Solitudes", S1 E17 (one of my favorites), Then, "Lost City', S7 E21 and E22. Then, in the SGA pilot, "Rising", S1 E1 and E2, it starts out in the Antarctic for about the first 20 minutes or so.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

Season 2 order already in hand:

'Star Trek: Starfleet Academy' Renewed for Season 2, Tatiana Maslany to Guest Star in Season 1

I've not been optimistic about this show based on what I've read so far. Seems to be aimed at a younger audience. Interesting though that Tatiana Maslany will have some sort of role.

Yeah, the foot stuff was just nasty. I kept thinking of how dirty her feet would get traipsing around shoe-less. Funny, I love being shoe less at home and never wear shoes indoors in my home for long, but seeing her laying on all her furniture with her bare feet hanging out just kind of grossed me out.

There would still be dirt ,dust in the future I am sure. So walking around the station like she did she would get stuff on her feet. I am sure the robot vacuum is still going to miss stuff, with all those different alien species running around there.

Where is it going to come from -- specifically?

Why do you think cleaning technology won't improve in the next few hundred years? HEPA filtration was invented as part of the Manhattan Project.

I don't know, but I still don't like her walking through the station or the academy with out her shoes. It looks unprofessional and very "hippy like" for someone of her status and I personally don't get off to feet, so there is that. ;)

They didn't sell many, they were pricey and not out long. Quickly got replaced by the Hopper.
T
They were high-end specialty, somewhat buggy and the 612/622/722 just overwhelmed it in popularity.
HipKat
I think they were more of a transitional receiver bridging the VIPs to the Hopper. They were a PITA to install and were buggy. Personally, I thought at the time that they were the best receiver out there. The versatility of the VIP's with the new Hopper GUI and, by far, the coolest-looking front plate and lighting.

I don't recall that they came out just before hopper, but rather that they came out even before 722. Or could be thinking of 921.

As to the title pf the post, "rare" does not necessarily mean valuable or desirable.
