Need help. No quality bar.

Hi guys. I have a 39" dish, Sonicview SV-360 Elite receiver, SG2100 dish and a dual linear LNB.

Latitude: 47.4888°
Longitude: -122.3328°
Name: Moteck SG2100
Distance: 38148km
Motor Latitude: 47.5°
Declination Angle: 7.1°
Dish Elevation: 23°
Azimuth (true): 180.0°
Azimuth (mag.): 163.3° using Compass

My settings are:
Motor elevation: 47.5 (I set this on the latitude inclinometer)
Dish bracket angle: 23

So my mount is plumb. LNB is on a straight line. I pointed the motor and dish to 180 degrees (my true south). Then went into the receiver and selected Galaxy 18 (123 W). This is where I have to idea what to do. I'm only getting a strength bar but not a quality bar.

Just updated the firmware from the SonicViewUSA website as well.

Hotshot, you haven't really given us many details about your dish.
Can you post a few pics?

Is it new, or used? Can you verify the LNB is at the focal point?

I've used three 1"sq. plastic mirrors with magnetic tape stuck to their backs,
placed them at various points on the pan, covered the LNB with tinfoil and
pointed the dish at the Sun to see where the reflections landed.
If the dish's geometry is correct, each mirror's reflection will hit the focal point.
This is where the LNB must be.

This reminds me of the "solar outage" method to do your aiming.
At a particular time of day, the Sun will be behind a certain satellite.
With an offset dish, you'll need to aim it a bit high to get the LNB's shadow to fall
on the bottom-center of the pan. At the right time, line up the shadow, snug up
the post clamp, tilt the dish onto the signal, record the number on the elev. scale.

Just some thoughts, they've worked for me.

Ah.
Short answer is No, you can not drive the Dish around and pick up other Sats.
With the Motor at Zero, it should be pointing to directly South.

The azimuth for given satellite can also be determined by using Sun, and some data from Naval Observatory, on any day, not only on "solar outage".
A piece of string or shoelace can be duct-taped to the LNB and the centre top of the dish. At certain hour and minute, when the Sun is at the same azimuth as chosen satellite, the dish should be rotated so the shadow of the shoelace would be in the centre of the bottom of the dish.

PISTONS and THUNDER are finally testing on the stream server. PISTONS is showing the Ion/Scripps Sports promo loop filler that their NHL and WNBA feeds have, THUNDER has a "You are watching Thunder+" slate

The Clippers still haven't officially announced their TV plans beyond 10 simulcasts on KTLA, but the NBA's FAQ for ClipperVision is now live. The CLIPPERS feed is currently showing a loop of their Hawaii preseason game.

The Heat still haven't announced their West Palm Beach or Fort Myers affiliates. Since WPLG is streaming the games for free via their app, I doubt we'll be seeing the return of WPLG on stream.

So far nothing testing for the Bucks, Magic, Hawks or Hornets.

West Palm Beach is getting it on WTCN-CD/43 MNT. Still nothing for Fort Myers

Also, the Thunder's deal for KSBI/52 OKC and KQCW/19 Tulsa will be via a special cable and DIRECTV only feed of those stations. OTA viewers and Dish customers will be limited to 10 games.

It's only available for streaming customers, they still haven't added that batch of CW stations to satellite.

Even if it was, satellite customers still can't stream their CW affiliates via the app, just the Big 4, select PBS stations and some independents (mainly the ones that have full season NHL/NBA rights)

Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson had an argument about who was responsible for the dynasty building of the early 90's Cowboys.

The rest of us figured it out in about 3 years, Jerry has had over 30 years but still can't admit it. It's all he lives for, to show everyone he can put together a winner. I don't think he can. His kids only know what he taught them.

On the West Coast, a 40-cent differential is common. It used to be 30 cents before the prices rose above $3.

A "full dollar more" sounds like it may be boat gas (non-alcoholic), which is a whole different discussion.

17 years ago the US turned off analog OTA signals in favor of digital broadcasting. Now the push is ATSC 3 "Nextgen TV". But nobody seems to be able to agree on DRM implementation protocols. People don't want to hook their TV up to the internet in order to watch over the air TV. At least I don't. With all the data they collect about your viewing habits the box should be given away at no cost.
