After a few months of anticipation I finally got my hands on the new GeosatPro MicroHD. When I first took it out of the package I noticed the box it came in was pretty small. Took out the receiver which is TINY! The length is about 2/3 the length of the remote. The front has 2 lights on it. One for power (red if off green if on) and a USB light. Green if a USB is attached and red if recording. The back is very simple. Power input (comes with 12v wall wart), USB, HDMI, sat input and the composite output which is a 3.5mm to the 3 colored wire (red/white/yellow). Since I am using HDMI I didn't plug that other cable in. I hooked up my 500GB hard drive too. The remote is very well laid out with easy to understand buttons. Also the Manhattan I have has some weird remote interference with my older plasma HDTV resulting in putting the receiver about 18 inches away from the TV. The MicroHD is where the Coolsat 5000 was which is right below the TV and the remote works great.

Upon powering it up you have to set up what satellites you want programmed in. The menu structure is very well thought out and simple to operate. I went into Satellite List (which when you start is one of the few options). The satellite list is thorough with KU first then C-Band. It starts at 30W and goes to 127W on the KU side. I like the fact the names are the orbital spot first then the name. I did go and rename most of the sats (I removed the "K" part….I know I'm working with KU). I did notice Satmex 5 (116.8) on the KU side is not listed. But since the footprint doesn't reach me it's a moot point. I may add it later.

Setting up for a motorized is very simple. I went into the antenna setup and the motor/switch setup. The neat thing is once you have it set up you really don't need to go back in there. I went in and set up my true south of 93W. Everything is there so you don't have to go into submenus for some options. You can set up Diseqc 1.0, 22k switch, Diseqc 1.1 and a motor. I did set up USALS originally and they were all spot on. But the "don't like change" in me changed them to Diseqc 1.2. Setup is a little different as for Diseqc 1.2 there is a "motor position" that you select a # between 1 & 99 to save each satellite. So as example my true south is #1, then 61W is #2, 72W is #3 and so on. I went through and have all my satellites set up. The default LNB Frequency is 10750 but you can scroll through numerous different LNB Frequency options. While it has the normal frequencies like 5150, 5750, 9750, 10600, 10750 and 11250 it also has options for stacked LNB's (13850), and even the C/Ku LNB's (5150/10750). It has pretty much any LNB Frequency known (and some not known).

The transponder list on some satellites is a little outdated. I had to go online and find a active transponder for my true south (93W) as none of the existing transponders were active. I do like that you can delete all transponders with one click (you can delete transponders one by one if you like). So once I was locked on a satellite I deleted all the transponders and blind scanned fresh. You have the option of blind scan-normal, blind scan-detail and transponder scan. Most of the time blindscan-normal works but in a couple of examples BS-detail might be needed. You can also select one polarity or even the frequency range. Manual PID entry is also an option.

I did some testing between 3 receivers on blind scanning. A Coolsat 5000, the MicroHD and my Manhattan. I first tried 91W which had some news feeds on it
Coolsat 5000 found 9 transponders and 5 channels
Manhattan found 11 transponders and 4 channels
MicroHD found 11 transponders and 7 channels
The thing to note is the MicroHD when you select "blind scan" defaults to 11700-12200 when scanning. The Manhattan scans from 11700-12900 so it found 3 transponders from Bell TV's satellite

I then went to 72W
Coolsat 3 transponders and 5 channels (missed KFTL at 1666 symbol rate)
Manhattan did hit KFTL but missed the NBC mux (12052 V 6890)
MicroHD found 4 transponders and 6 channels (a feed, KFTL and the NBC mux)

When I went to 83W I had some weird results
Coolsat found 8 transponders and 6 channels (but missed the RTV mux completely)
Manhattan found the RTV mux but missed most of the NBC feeds that were up
MicroHD logged the RTV mux easily but missed a couple of the NBC feeds.

I did a couple tests with the MicroHD. Some transponders have multiple frequencies on a transponder close together. Depending on how close they are the Micro might not hit all of them on a normal blind scan. When I did a detail scan (which takes longer) it hit 7 of the NBC transponders that are 6 Mhz apart. I noticed also when I scanned 125W the 3 "feeds" for PBS that are close together (12163, 12169 and 12175 H 4444) on a normal scan it hit 2 of them but missed the middle one. Detail scan brought them in. On the positive it did find transponders with symbol rates down to 1029. While the MicroHD may take a little longer to scan than the Coolsat 5000 (less than 30 seconds in most cases…a little longer if DVB-S2 transponders are present) the fact it finds more makes it worth it. If you press "signal" button while on a channel a full screen signal meter shows up.

Recording something is very easy and you can record two things at once as long as it's the same transponder. If you try and record a 3rd you get a popup that says "Unable to record 3rd channel". If you are recording something the receiver allows you to scroll through the other channels on the transponder (if there are some) but it wont let you move off that transponder. So as example when I was recording TuffTV the only channels I could go through using the up down arrows were PBJ & RTV. The reason I say this is other receivers let you go onto another transponder but gives you a popup first asking to record. The Micro makes this easier as you don't have to think "now what channels are on that same transponder that I can watch?" especially if you have channels separated in the list. As example on 97W I have the "news" channels listed first. But they may not be sorted by transponder. If I am recording say Russia Today and want to scroll to Al Jazeera English if say JN1 is between them the Manhattan would give me the popup to ask if I want to stop the program. The MicroHD if I hit channel up goes to JN1. If I hit channel up again it goes back to Russia Today (those are the only 2 channels from that transponder I have saved.) If you want to stop a program (and are recording two things) it gives you a popup regardless of channel you are on and you pick which one to stop. If only one program is recording you have to go to that channel to stop the recording.

I set up a couple timers to see how it handles them. One was on 97W and the other was on 125W. The one on 97W fired without a hitch. It recorded 5 minutes then shut off. The 2nd one, which went 4 minutes after the 1st one ended, first moved the dish to 125W then started recording. So in this case the 5 minute recording was 4 minutes 33 seconds. So if you need to have the dish move, make sure to set it a couple minutes earlier so it can move there. By the way Diseqc 1.2 is spot on. That is one thing I worried about from using other receivers. Usually Diseqc 1.2 seems to have issues with stopping at the right spot. This one does not. Also the clock holds time properly so no worries about it losing time. You can manually set it or set it via the satellite.

The receiver does have a buffer (timeshift) which works really well. You can go backwards or forward at 2,4,8,16 or 24 times speed. In the menu settings you can have it so when you hit record it either starts when you hit record or it dumps the whole buffer in the file. The one thing I ran into is the record length. Normally when you hit record it would pre-set for 2 hours. You could hit record again and change this to whatever you wanted. Also the buffer counts towards that recording time. So if you had 38 minutes of buffered programming and hit record it shows 38:01. But when I hit record it defaults to 14 hours and you cant change it.

Channel editing is very easy to do. Go into the TV channel (or radio if you need to work on those) and use the color buttons to edit a channel name, move them around or remove. One thing I wish the MicroHD had was a way to remove all channels from a transponder. My GeosatPro 200 has that option. I can remove channels one by one, per transponder or per satellite. Also I noticed that if you rename a channel and do a blind scan at another time it overwrites the edited name. As we all know very few of the PBS channels actually have a name attached. Most are "TV3", "TV4" etc. So I renamed TV3 & TV4 as PBS HD EAST and PBS HD WEST. Well when I redid a blind scan later when it found 12140 V 30000 (where they are located) it renamed them back to TV3 & TV4.

All and all I give this a receiver a HUGE thumbs up! The fact it works out of the box like we want it to lets us play with the receiver instead of being disappointed with something not working. I don't have to worry about if something doesn't work and wait for a software update that might fix something but break something else. The receiver can do software upgrades via OTA via the G19 sat but that is coming within the next week or so (per Brian). One note is to make sure to do a channel backup before updating software as it does wipe everything out. As I mentioned to Brian last night I can sum up the MicroHD with this line
"Honestly this is the first receiver I have worked with in a long time (a good 2-3 years) that after a half hour I didn't hook the Coolsat 5000 back up to the setup. This one is definitely a keeper"

The good
-small size…can be placed really anywhere
-remote is laid out pretty well
-easy to navigate menus
-sat list is up to date with names
-easy to add/delete/rename satellites
-can use 22k, Diseqc 1.0, 1.1 & 1.2 (or USALS) at same time
-has pretty much every combination of a LNB LO Frequency known to man (and some probably not known)
-can record two shows at once while watching a 3rd or a DVR program (same transponder only)
-numerous scanning options. Can blind scan normal, blind scan detail, TP scan, sat scan (of existing transponders)
-Can specify frequency range (default is 11700-12200 for KU Band 10750 LNB LO frequency) and polarity
-PID scan
-blind scan finds symbol rates down to 1000
-picks up DVB, MPEG4 and DVB-S2 transponders
-easy edit of channel names/deleting of channels
-can delete all TP's on satellite with one click
-software updates via satellite (G19)
-timeshift (buffer) of current program
-a accurate clock
-if you hit record it can dump the buffered programming in the DVR file
-no issues with the remote interference (I had another receiver that had major interference and I had to set it up away from the entertainment center. The Geosat is right under the TV)

There are a couple things that that could be improved on. I have already forwarded the info to SatelliteAV.
One thing that really bugs me is there is a "moving dish" popup that shows up no matter what you do. I know some receivers have it but most that popup leaves right away. This stays up for 15 seconds unless you hit "exit" before that. This shows up if you go into the transponder list and antenna setup. I understand if you are going from say 83W to 91W but why when you are on 91W already and you want to blind scan it does that popup when you hit OK to scan? The only time it is rather quick is when you power it on for the first time. It only shows up for about 2 seconds. I know my Coolsat 5000 only does it for a couple seconds but I'm still using version 1.00 software. Anything else (including the factory 3rd party stuff) has that popup too for longer.
This is what SatelliteAv sent back to me about it
"Dish Moving" - It also drives me nuts! We are working on this irritant so the display will leave after 3 or 4 seconds, but their are other functions hard coded by ALI that is making this very difficult. If the display is programmed to disappear earlier, there is currently no way to prevent he next step of the process from starting. There are no time place holders without the display. The result is if the display is removed early, the next event step starts. What happens for example is that if in a scan mode, the scan is initiated prior to the dish landing on the target satellite. I have been playing with displaying a blank screen, but this can confuse the user as you still must either press exit to skip to the next step or wait. If the user does not visually see that a motor move event command is still waiting to time out, the RCU would not function until the exit button was pressed or the event times out. It is totally a ALI coding issue that we are fighting a work around

When doing a blind scan if you select one polarity after the scan is done it stays on that polarity. You have to go into the satellite scan, change it to AUTO then back out.
SatelliteAV said this is on the list to be fixed so it defaults to auto when done.

I mentioned this above but if you rename a channel and do a scan at another time it writes over the existing name with what the SID shows....example I scanned the PBS HD feeds on 12140 V 30000. They show as "TV3 & TV4"....I renamed them "PBS HD EAST" and "PBS HD WEST". When I rescanned AMC21 it rewrote the names as TV3 & TV4
SatelliteAV said this is on the list to be fixed so that it doesn't overwrite the changed channel name

The record length is weird as it defaults to 14 hours and you can't change it. While this doesn't bother me right now as timer recordings work properly and I would just hit "stop" when I was done with a on-the-fly recording for some people who hit record and only want it to record say an hour will run into issues. SatelliteAV is aware of it and trying to duplicate it.
edit 6/23...this has been fixed. Dont know what I did but unplugging her hard drive and inserting it again and now I'm back to the 2 hour default and can change the length to record
edit 6/29...had the same issue and Brian suggested a factory reset after loading software. That fixes the glitch

I'm sure I'll come across some other things (after all I've had it for 48 hours) which I'll post.
I'm happy to have one and now after 6 ½ years I can actually retire my Coolsat 5000 as the "main" receiver in my setup.

edit: 6/22...OMG! I just stumbled upon something else it can do

Now I know you can record two programs on the same transponder but I just tested and found out you can set two timers the same way....EVEN IF THE SAME TIME
I know the Manhattan wont let you set 2 overlapping timers even if same transponder. The MicroHD can.
for more info on that (timers) see post 35 & 36

tons of pictures to follow ;)

While doing some experimenting with my Coolsat 8100 and my MicroHD yesterday I discovered something which may be useful or annoying depending on your circumstances.

The remote that came with my Coolsat 8100 and the remote that came with my MicroHD appear to be functionally interchangeable. I have an 8100 set up currently, and noticed when I plugged in my MicroHD at the same location that the Coolsat was responding to the MicroHD power button.

While continuing my experiments I used the two remotes interchangeably for selecting menu functions, channels etc. without seeing anything that either would not respond to.

While re-reading this thread this post about the Coolsat remote caught my eye. Since the factory remote for the MicroHD is so annoying and good universal remotes are fairly costly I decided to see if Ebay had any Coolsat remotes. It did but then I spotted a brand new universal FTA remote for $9.98 including shipping so I took a chance. It arrived and I entered the code for a Coolsat 8100. Lo and behold it works like a champ and the OK and arrow buttons are far enough apart now that I no longer accidently press two at once. Thanks for the headsup. :thumbup

Maybe I have overlooked something in the Micro HD manual or a previous post, but I have a couple of noob questions:

Is it possible to bump the dish with the receiver remote while still watching the channel? I mean without having to go into Menu> Antenna setup

Is there a way to view the channel listings on all Satellites without out the dish re-positioning for every Sat? It would save wear on the old actuator. Not to mention time.

Trivial stuff I know.I'm loving the Micro HD.

A funny side note: Our two mutts have not yet figured out where that humming noise is coming from when the dish turns.I've turned it a few times just to watch them go charging down the hill ready to whup butt...only to come back with that WTF look on their faces.LMAO.

Ahhh, the simple things in life.

Hopefully they won't try to tackle the dish and chew it up. :-)

Yesterday my wife was sewing in the room next to my Birdview with the window open. I accidentally made her almost jump out of her chair when I turned the dish! The motor and gears on that dish are quite loud.

Due to security concerns and the fact that the Tapatalk Plugin for Xenforo is no longer being updated we have removed Tapatalk support from SatelliteGuys.

For those who were using it we recommend using our PWA App instead which is faster and does not have all the spam Tapatalk had. Below is a graphic showing how to add SatelliteGuys to your devices home screen. (While iOS is shown the process is mostly the same for Android.)

Actually, PWA stands for "Progressive Web Application" and is basically just saving a site's homepage to your desktop where it appears as an "App" with the rest of your smartphone's Apps.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

New low power station has been granted by the FCC and the new call leter is K33OB-D on RF ch. 33.

Will run at 15 KW ERP, this one runs from the Westside same location as KWPL-LD a HC2 owned station.

It's going to be aimed at eastern part of Albuquerque, so it's tightly focused beam pattern.

This new station is owned by Digital Network and what kind of programmings is unkown at this time.😎

I have had good experiences with Brave but lately I am frustrated with it.

Now when I launch the app it shows a box at the bottom asking if I want to go back to the last opened page. It is in conveniently located and I would prefer to eliminate it.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Please let's not sidetrack the discussion into an exploration of why I don't care for it or a lecture about all the wonderful aspects of the feature. I just do not care for it.

I don't have an Android phone so I don't know if this will apply to the Brave settings on your android device but it works on the desktop for me.

Change this setting to either startup to a different website or a new tab page. I have mine set to open to google.com instead of where I left off and it doesn't ask me at the next startup if I want to open the last opened page unless it crashed.

Hello everyone.

I am new here and I done a search on MLB Extra Innings and DISH and it led me to this forum and so I signed up and hopefully someone can help me out with some issues.

First off, I am a DISH Outdoors customer and I signed up for service back in late October of 2025. I have a Wally HD Receiver and I am using the DISH Playmaker OS 2.1 as my Antenna that operates on 110 and 119 Western Arc and Alternative 61.5, 110, and 119 satellites. I signed up for MLB Extra Innings back in March before the season began. I was excited to be able to watch MLB Extra Innings because I love baseball and I use to have MLB Extra Innings on Satellite DIRECTV back in 2001-2004 and on Satellite DISH back in 2016 and 2017.

I was a bit disappointed when I found out that it is actually MLB.TV Simulcasted to DISH Satellite (More on that later) Anyways I have been watching faithfully almost every night however about a week ago there was a problem. When I went to go to the game to watch a game the game wouldn't come in an I would send a refresh signal to my receiver and then I could watch the programming and when I went to switch games at that games appointed time slot my Wally HD Receiver who lockup where I couldn't change any channels or view the guide and it would reboot. The next night when I turned to a game at game start it still had the background it shows before the game started and again send a refresh signal and went though this same thing over and over. I added a movie channel to my lineup and had issues with showing up my Dish Wally HD Receiver.

With an investigation after several calls with DISH Support it was determined that by going to the diagnostics screen that I had a issue with my Tuner because any changes that I made to my programming these changes would not take affect on the Wally HD Receiver. In other words that Wally HD Receiver was toast!

I too had reported MLB Extra Innings issue to DISH and they created a ticket for it and said that someone would investigate the issue. I too took notice that under MyDISH account under MLB Extra Innings always before it would show that I was subscribed and on auto-renew. Now it shows nothing and even after logging out and deleting my User Name and Password so that I can see it in guest mode it too doesn't even list a price and option for purchase as does the now WNBA League Pass.

After my DISH Receiver was ruined I had to buy a new Wally HD Receiver. I took advantage an bought 2 HD Wally's and added them both to my account. I called back to remove the old box off of the account and was told it was linked to MLB Extra Innings and the advanced technical support team said there was a glitch with MLB Extra Innings and hope to have a resolution in a couple of days and I could call back in to then to remove the box. But both the 2 new Wally HD Receivers are activated on my account. I asked them what the problem was with MLB Extra Innings and how long it would be and I was told there was a glitch as I asked to specify what they meant and got no answer. I again went and checked the MyDISH account page under the MLB Extra Innings page and it still doesn't list me as subscribed and after logging out and deleting my User Name and Password so I could it see it as a guest mode and it still doesn't list the price and option for purchase as it does for the WNBA League Pass.

I am afraid to boot up these boxes and go through the activation screen process because of the issues with the MLB Extra Innings in fear it will do the same or mess up my boxes from being able to receive MLB Extra Inning because or any other programing because I was told that MLB Extra Innings wouldn't come in on those new box because it was activated with the Wally that is ruined and it needs removed first.

Now I have no DISH service going on a week and miss my MLB Extra Innings when the races are just heating up and now with two boxes activated I can't boot up because I am afraid it will mess them up and I will be out the $180.00 or so dollars I made in purchase on the receivers.

Is anyone else experiencing issues with their MLB Extra Innings and does anyone really know what this so called glitch actually is? I can't seem to get a clear answer from anybody and don't even know if it will even be fixed or anyone really understands it.

Now to my previous statement on how I was disappointed that MLB Extra Innings is actually MLB.TV in simulcast. When I had MLB Extra Innings before with DIRECTV in 2001-2004 and with DISH form 2016 and 2017. They would always show the commercials for every teams broadcast from their local market and all games would be authentic just as if you were watching in their home market. After I quit DISH I went to streaming for awhile and I done MLB.TV and I hated their features because of the no commercials, the delayed times of getting back after the commercial break, and not being able to listen to what studios had to say when they would cut into the studios, and always looking at the screen during commercial breaks with a screen that says commercial break in progress and a silhouette background of MLB Players doing baseball things and the their crazy commercial breaks sound. I was excited to go back to DISH thinking I escaped the horrors of MLB.TV. Well its actually the same thing. I compared them side by side and actually MLB.TV is ahead by just a few seconds. So actually MLB Extra Innings on Satellite is delayed from time period wise from actually watching MLB.TV which shows it is simulcasted. My question is when did this start? And is this legal? This isn't what I know MLB Extra Innings to be. I too had signed up for NHL Center Ice this past winter and thank goodness its authentic! They still have the commercials and its like watching it as you were in their home network and its the way it oughta be even if you only do get one feed of NHL Center Ice per team on DISH and don't know which feed it is every night.

Looking forward to your responses. So far happy with DISH but unhappy with this last week and the ruining of a Wally HD Receiver.

I hope I can be of some contribution here as well.

Sincerely,

RJ T.

I know they are doing some major satellite work - the second satellite at 110 which is now in use, and they are moving channels between 119 and 110. Maybe since there are no other sports going on, have they temporarily cut back on the out of market sports packages? I am not sure. It looks like those channels are all coming from 119 TP 13, 110 TP 12, and 110 TP 09.

Also, Dish's Scheduled Satellite Maintenance page doesn't have anything going on:

Trying to get use to this forum and where everything is located at. I saw you responded from my post on the changes and took me a while to get back to see this post. But yes, it is exactly what I was thinking. I too noticed the change of MLB Extra Innings from 110 to 119. Because of 30 teams they have to algin everything. Only other sport going on PPV wise is WNBA League Pass and I do not have a subscription to that but maybe some else who has it can confirm what they done and what satellite and transponders they are on.

This is a big shift for DISH. I just hope if Charlie Ergen does ever sell out to anyone that I can continue to use my DISH Playmaker and I can keep my Wally's. If its anything like what happened to DIRECTV a few years back which turned out to be a total disaster when AT&T acquired DIRECTV nothing there changed with boxes or anything and you continued to use the same service but I was very surprised to see AT&T sell it to TPG especially after they had just bought it now long ago.

Update on MLB Extra Innings as of 5:50 P.M. CDT June 10, 2026...

I am getting tired of not being able to watch any baseball games and having paid for MLB Extra Innings and not knowing what the reason is I called dish back at 1-800-333-3474. I guess after all of my calls my call was routed to the Advanced Technical Support Team. I had something happen that I never knew they could do and they gained access into my Wally Receiver. I was told settings look good and right now on the only channel that shows is the MLB1 Baltimore Orioles Channel. They are playing the at home against the Seattle Mariners right now. She was able to access to that channel which prompted a purchase a Rent option. That signaled a red flag to her right away. She escalated a ticket with photographs and info from my screen to the top tier advanced programing technical department and told me they received the ticket and are reviewing it now. They got back to her and said they would have information within 30 minutes. I either get the channels within 30 minutes or I am to call back and they will advance from there. Seems like maybe my persistence is paying off. I will keep you informed. Maybe we can all have a resolution to this shortly.

Final Update... As of 8:08 P.M. CDT June 10, 2026.

I now have MLB Extra Innings back! Look at the photo! (I did not include full image of the game due to copyright)

Let me just say it was rough! Very rough! And lets just say Charlie Ergen should be ashamed of his customer service team and how they handled this whole issue.

After multiple calls after my last post only to get the run around with answers like there are no refunds on MLB Extra Innings once the season starts, to they are working on it, to accessing my screen and sending multi hits to the box.

All I asked was one simple question remove the MLB Extra Innings which they confirmed I had and reauthorize free of charge. I was given a 1,000 reasons why this couldn't be done.

Well..........

I paid for it myself.... $120.00 current rate and it works!

I called back in to let them know what I done and what I thought of the customer service and told them I needed refunded. I was told they didn't do refunds....

Well again I called back and got someone who refunded the original payment of $150.00 back to my account. A $30 discount for all the hard trouble I went though.

It is now up to you all out there that have MLB Extra Innings to try to get them to do this but I am afraid you are going to have to take your own action and purchase again and beg for a refund or be out the $150.00 originally paid.

Persistence pays off. I don't give up very easily.

You can all go here below to make the purchase if you have any trouble.

I hope it all works well for you! And best of luck to everyone who has it!

I will still be around on this forum. You all sound like a fine group of people! I hope I can contribute more.

Take care!
