I went to the Dish Network forum and asked about three hopper systems and below is the reply from Dish tech.....

TECH Reply -"We are not able to setup 2H/0J, or 3H/0J in our system. There are some cases where we can do 1H/0J, but otherwise each Hopper needs at least 1 corresponding Joey (so we can do 1H/2J or 2H/2J)."

Then I replied below and with the techs reply.

If you can't get a correct answer from the source there is a break down. I currently have two 612 and one 722 for a total of six tuners. Why would I want one hopper with three tuners??? I didn't have any problems last February when I changed over to the Hopper/Joey system from VIP722ks. I just called up Dish CSR and told them I wanted four HWSs and one Joey. He said that another department will call me back later in the day. Received a call from the Hopper Executive Resolutions department and they fixed me up. I had two purchased HWSs from DishDepot.com waiting on the technician when he showed up with another two HWSs and one Joey. He wasn't real sure how to connect it all up so I told him what I had learned from fellow support member 3Halo0DST in this forum and showed him what to do. Everything works great.

charlesrshell,

Just out of curiosity, from one of your HWSs, can you see the programs on every HWS, or are you limited to only the other HWS connected to the same duo node? In other words, does the Whole Home Network connect between the two duo nodes?

Thanks,
Dave

Yes, from one HWS you can see programs on every HWS. The Joey can see programs on all four Hoppers. This is possible because of a jumper coax cable connecting the two Duo Nodes. If there is no jumper coax you are limited to the other HWS connected to the same Duo Node, with the exception of the Joey. The Joey can see the two Hoppers connected to the same Duo Node. In the pics you can see the Hopper selection drop down menu from each Hopper and Joey. In the Hopper diagram pic you can see how the jumper coax is connected between both Duo Nodes. The diagram is accurate with the exception I have added an OTA module with rabbit ears to the second bedroom Hopper.

18 months of credit gives me time to either drop the 2nd hopper off my account come June of 2015 or trade in both hoppers for the newest generation of the hopper will be that year. Right now I will save the $7.00 joey fee off of my account by using a $30.00 monoprice 3-d hd splitter for my living room and computer room tvs.

As for the person many posts back worried about them not putting the order through without a Joey: Don't worry about this. When I had my Hopper installed 6 months ago they couldn't put the other through without adding at least 1 Joey and just told me to have the installer cancel it off the order when he arrived. He swapped my dish to a 1000.2 with the new LNBs that have the switch built in, installed the "Solo Node" device inside (I prefer to have as little as possible outdoors), and that was that. Worked like a charm.

So what you need to do is call them, get setup on their "protection plan" for $7, then ask them for the number of a local installer and get it scheduled. You can have your multiple hoppers (up to 4) installed inside your house. Problem solved. No self install required. Just make sure when you call the local installer they know how to do the switches properly to feed your 3 hopper properly. Some of the new installers are still confused by the Hopper new LNB and switch setup. Since you have/had 6 total tuners with your two 612's and one 722, for the same price you will now have 9 tuners. Or 12 if you add the over the air tuner to each one. :) As Charlesrsehll showed in his awesome setup, anything is possible

As for the rest of this topic about multiple Hoppers on same property:
I just got off the phone with them an hour ago to order a 2nd Hopper with Sling because I want to install it on my shop (aka man cave). Which is on the same property. Since my shop is about 115 feet away from the house dish, and I'm certainly not going to bury coax out there the CSR suggested I just put another dish on the shop itself. Their rule is that you cannot install on a building over 200ft away. I asked if I'd have to buy the 2nd dish and she said no, not if I sign up for the protection plan, then just turn off the protection plan after the install was done. So that saves me $40 plus the install fee which is nice. I also have a 211 on my motor home and that isn't an issue either. I told her I don't have a phone line or internet out there and if the Hopper would still work. I was told the only thing is it won't be able to download PPV/web content over the internet but of course all the normal satellite stuff would work, except no sling capability obviously. But I'm still going to get the unit with Sling just in case I ever run a wireless network bridge out there (I KNOW my WiFi won't reach. I have metal siding on the house and metal shop) I did ask her if it was ok to take my (future) shop Hopper up with me to my cabin for the weekends and she said yes and suggested I buy a tailgater dish.

So that is the latest info I got. Going to get my 2nd HWS ordered this week and mount a second dish on a pole. Looking forward to having my own dish in my "man cave" out of the house.

Your 1st HWS that is connected to the Internet will supply the 2nd HWS with Internet through the moca line. No extra net or wifi needed.

not unless the two are connected in that way, and he isn't going to bury coax 115 feet which I know I would and then some. I had to do this to a building I have on property a few years ago. I just went and rented a digger and buried 100 feet of 3 inch pipe and pulled 3 coax, 1 ethernet, 1 phone and wire to pull anything else thru I needed later. The cost was very low and made everything nice and clean for anything in the future. I'd rather do this than have two satellites but the cost is cheaper and makes for an easy install as long as the tech is getting paid for what is basically a new connect as it requires a new satellite and not just get paid for a 1 room upgrade which is exactly something Dish would try to do.

Also to Aaron, getting a tailgater dish as in another whole dish on a pole in a bucket or tri-pod would be fine just make sure you get another node. If you are thinking a tailgater as in one of those automatic jobs then think again they will NOT work with the hopper..only a 211.

I had a 15 minute debate with a CSR about how many TV's I had in my house and that I have an HDMI splitter in the wiring closet with the (then 722, was ordering Hopper) telling him I didn't need Joey's. "No sir, that is not possible. You see, you cannot view on other TV's without Joeys." -- Me: "Well, I've had my 722 setup this way for 6 years now.. HDMI goes into an HDMI splitter, then HDMI cables to every TV in the house" him: "No sir, I'm afraid that is not possible" Sigh.. (facepalm). I once helped wire a high end house with 12 HDTV's fed by a two 722's into an HDMI matrix splitter, including one 22" HDTV mounted in a bathroom tub wall behind glass (and marine water proof speakers for the audio - quite cool). I was glad that last CSR I talked to knew her stuff. She even knew about wireless HDMI distribution (fairly new).

As DVR expander said, there will be no connection between the two. And our house has metal siding, metal tinted windows, and the shop is a huge chunk of metal.. Our laptop barely gets WiFi 20 feet from the house with a full power high end dual band wireless router. However, if anyone comes across this need. I can make a recommendation. Try a pair of Engenius long range wireless N150 2.4Ghz bridges (ENS200). $60 a piece and goes non-line-of-site really well being wireless-N. I setup a pair of these in about 20 minutes to bridge some IP cameras on our farm over 3 miles away at 40mbit/sec. Would work great for this too, assuming I think spending $120 will be worth it to connect it to my home network (and other HWS).

Also, dvrexpander: Thanks for the info on tailgater not working for hopper. For the price of the 1000.2 dish, I'll just put one up at the cabin if I need to I guess.

IF you own your own receivers like I do and can install them yourself, you don' t have to deal with the uninformed csrs . That is one of the reasons I joined this board years ago, so I could learn all about satellite tv , how to install it . And you would be surprised how much I learn here, before the csrs do at DISH.

The problem is, Dish Receivers are notoriously unreliable long term. My mom has been thru 4 722's in 6 years. Brother thru 3. Other brother thru 2 and 3 have failed me. My guess is it is usually the hard drive. But design wise, Dish is pretty poor. They design their units with lower cost hotter processors and don't vent/cool them worth a darn. I've lost long saved shows many times over because of failures. They put the minimum processing power in and let them cook. I recommend to everyone that they put a laptop cooling fan on top (or bottom depending on model) of their unit to keep it properly cool. It is as if they designed the units in 65 degree F test labs and never consider that someone may have a hot home or media closet. That reminds me of something funny, a few months ago my dish came up and said "Your dish has reached its maximum temperature of 140 degrees (it was something like that) and will be usable once the temperature comes down. Current temperature 70 degrees" LOL. Someone missed some programming logic on that one.

Conclusion on this, I lease because I don't trust their hardware to not fail. As for installing them myself, I've done about 30 systems for friends and family (not as a profession, just because it is easy). I always run the coax thru the roof and down into the house. Something the installers really don't like to do without you demanding it and agreeing you won't hold them responsible for a future leak. I just don't like wires running down my outsides walls and drilled in. Neat and clean is for me.

I had a Hopper and Joey installed this past week. We discovered that the combination was insufficient for our needs. Our timers and recordings were all mixed together and we were down one tuner; it was more confusing. Then we discovered that removing the Joey and adding a Hopper was what we needed. I called Dish and they sent a tech from the local company who happily removed the Joey (24 hrs after it had been installed), discovered we had only two connections on the roof, so he removed the two existing dishes, replaced with one with the proper number of connections, no charge for any of that and $5 per month for the Hopper, which was $3 less than our previous bill (922 and 722) plus now we have 6 tuners total (another one , I think, when the OTA module arrives) plus another 1.5tb recording space, no muss, no fuss, Dish arranged it without any concerns or objections. And, I had talked to CSRs, one to see if I could do it and what it would cost, and another to actually place the order. We now have 2 Hoppers, no Joeys.

I went to the Dish Network forum and asked about three hopper systems and below is the reply from Dish tech.....

It appears we are not getting both home & away feeds out of market on League Pass for these teams either…

I've been watching the Spurs home feed on channel 676-1 (was part time San Antonio specific feed) out of market with NBALP for YEARS on satellite (through the multiple iterations of Fox Sports SW, Bally Sports SW, FanDuel Sports SW) Looks like that will not happen unless a deal is reached with DAZN. I do see the placeholder channel on 680 if it happens.

Center Ice does have the non-carried feeds, including the Hurricanes, Wild, Blues and Blue Jackets and spotbeam local only teams like the Panthers, Mammoth and Golden Knights. So it probably depends on the available part time bandwidth each night as things they are able to provide to in market viewers in the 600s, PPV Events in the 100s and commercial events in the 9000s get priority first, along with games where neither team has a remappable feed.
coolman302003
League Pass tonight for example (it is almost a full slate tonight):
Hawks @ Magic (only Hawks feed which is easy to insert since its OTA this season and simulcast across multiple Gray Television markets, Magic signed a non- exclusive streaming deal with DAZN and also OTA)
Bucks @ Wizards (only Wizards feed easy to remap, Bucks are OTA & there own streaming service Bucks+)
Hornets @ Nets (only Nets feed which DirecTV already carries so simply YES remap, Hornets signed non-exclusive streaming deal with DAZN, also OTA)
Bulls @ Raptors (Bulls only feed via CHSN remap, its common that we don't get Raptors feeds that often)
Jazz @ Grizzlies (Jazz only feed OTA easy to insert, Grizzlies signed streaming deal with DAZN)
Pacers @ Pelicans (Pelicans only feed which is OTA easy to insert, Pacers signed streaming deal with DAZN)

Maybe it will change but it looks like DirecTV may only carry DAZN feeds on NBA LP when there is no other option, such as when two teams (either Cavaliers, Pacers, Grizzlies, Timberwolves, Spurs) that are both DAZN exclusive are playing each other, we shall see as the season goes on I guess.

This NBA season will be the first in a long time where many League Pass games are carried on feeds DirecTV doesn't normally carry or are only available through OTA spot beams. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out, especially whether we eventually get both home and away feeds for these teams out of market again.

Luckily my DTV stream package doesn't have a rsn fee. Figure DTV that always says is the leader in sports would have come to an agreement by now.

Greenville-New Bern is $11.99 for MASN (Orioles) and Nationals
Raleigh is $11.99 for MASN and Nationals
Charlotte is $12.99 for BravesVision, MASN, Nationals and Reds

The fee in NC also includes the higher in state rate they have to pay for ACCN. Down in SC the fee is $15.99 as they are also a SEC state.
I'm not sure if they're doing it with those teams, but in some markets they also use the fee to cover the additional cost they have to pay for independents and MyNet stations that picked up full season NHL and NBA rights.

If you go to the TVPromise site, you'll likely be able to get a credit for not getting the Hurricanes and additional Hornets games that air on WITN-D2

Figure DTV that always says is the leader in sports would have come to an agreement by now.
Part of the hold out might be the packaging and price for outer areas like how the Thunder needs sports pack for other states. Hopefully they are also pushing for a guarantee from the teams that they would require whoever wins their local broadcasting rights in 2028 to negotiate with MVPDs. Commercial distribution rights are probably a factor too.

I'm guessing they got a deep discount for the Clippers based on how long it took them to officially announce ClipperVision and their KTLA simulcasts after they were basically handed a multi-year draft death penalty.

The Predators and Pistons channels are using feeds supplied by Scripps Sports

The Heat likely depends on whoever they sign for the Fort Myers DMA, as there's no point in paying a high price for the Heat just for that DMA when WPLG is streaming it for free on their app and website for viewers in the Miami DMA, and they already carry the West Palm Beach station.

I tried this with both the Hurricanes and Hornets since I'm in upstate SC, and wasn't offered any kind of credit by the site. It's not a huge deal to me as I can pick up WSOC/WAXN over the air at my location even though I'm outside the Charlotte market.

Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson had an argument about who was responsible for the dynasty building of the early 90's Cowboys.

The rest of us figured it out in about 3 years, Jerry has had over 30 years but still can't admit it. It's all he lives for, to show everyone he can put together a winner. I don't think he can. His kids only know what he taught them.

Week Six Balls and Goats and WTH is Going On in The NFL??

Browns. 1st place in the North. Yup. Believe it or not

Chiefs. Undefeated.

Titans. Won a game ! .... Colts I know, but still.

Saints. Won a game after a while.

Steelers. Having the same season they always have. They somehow find wins on their way to an unceremonial 1st round exit. Mike Tomlin is proud.

Cards. Won a game without scoring a single touchdown

Broncos. How they manage to win games with the dogshit offense they have should be studied.

Bears. Caleb's back and so is their mojo.

Goats

NFC East. For the 2nd straight week no team from this clown show of a division won a game. Eagles are cooked without Hurts. Who's not that good anyway. Commanders suck, Dallas is well ..... Dallas and the Giants have no QB.

Ravens. Lamar is out (as usual). But still. Losing to the Browns is never ok.

Chargers. Still can't win.

Rams. So much for the powerhouse team. They are 2 games under .500

Seattle. Lost to the offenseless Broncos.

Well, the bag can't weigh that much, right? But by law food product packaging must display the actual net weight of the product, i.e., the contents of the container, so by any logic, if not law, a store's stated per-ounce cost should reflect that figure. But since there's not any law regulating shelf statements, a store can say whatever it wants without violating any rules. So I guess the answer is more consumer legislation. Or simply caveat emptor.

Well, according to the price per ounce on that first bag of coffee he mentions, that would mean the bag weighed over 6 ounces. That bag does NOT weigh 6 ounces. According to Google, an empty bag weighs half an ounce.

I would think that the Vendor/Maker of the product would have a say in it, showing the Correct weight ...
You would think it would be in the contract.

I do look at the ounces of items, but unless its way off, I don't check the math, may have to start now.

Remember when you use to get a 13.5 oz bag of Chips .... Thats a PARTY Size now.

I worked 1978-end of school 1982 so I worked right through all the inflation that was taking place then. Taught me life-lessons that still are with me. My primary job on Saturdays was doing all the price changes....back then you used a price gun, so I had a front row seat. Sugar REALLY went through the roof which is why we now have high fructose corn syrup in just about everything we eat nowadays .

Sugar went from 5 pound bags to 4 pound bags

Well, according to the price per ounce on that first bag of coffee he mentions, that would mean the bag weighed over 6 ounces. That bag does NOT weigh 6 ounces. According to Google, an empty bag weighs half an ounce.
You need to weigh the actual bag...a deli bag weighs less than that but a thick coffee bag is gonna weigh around an ounce...an empty tin can has some weight

Products sold by the ounce, pound, etc, should always be priced for the product only. Only the shipping weight should include the packaging.

Unless the specific product or its packaging is known at the time of weighing, estimating the tare weight for a PoS system is a tall order.

I'm pretty sure that produce bags can't get any thinner. ;)

You certainly don't want to put unbagged produce on a belt, scale, or in a clerk's hands (gloved or not).

I would think that all the packaging would already be accounted for ... they weigh the container, subtract that from the scale, then add the product , so its weighing the Product only

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

Just finished S2. Watching Gary Oldman as deshvilved, dejected MI-6 agent, Jackson Lamb, is one of the best things streaming right now. Already 2 more seasons in the works. HIGHLY recommended. And yes, Mick Jagger sings the theme.

I think this new season is a little too slow of a burn (as of ep #4, probably due to new show runner. However, I can't wait to find out what's up with Taverner!

Well, the season finale went balls to the wall. Non stop action and several twisted twists. Gary Oldman at his best. Very well written and executed. Tavener owes Jackson big time. Only "if" was Jack Lowden's (River) cliffhanger, especially admin-st the buzz that he is the next James Bond in waiting.

Planning to start the new season tonight. :)

That's one of those songs that hits a little too close to home for me. I like the song but just can't listen to it. It's kinda like that song "Daddy never was the Cadillac kind".....reminds me too much of my Grandfather who died Feb 18, 1995.

17 years ago the US turned off analog OTA signals in favor of digital broadcasting. Now the push is ATSC 3 "Nextgen TV". But nobody seems to be able to agree on DRM implementation protocols. People don't want to hook their TV up to the internet in order to watch over the air TV. At least I don't. With all the data they collect about your viewing habits the box should be given away at no cost.

It's dead, they just don't know it yet. They killed it by forcing DRM on it, and that TOTALLY botched implementing it.

There is absolutely NO compelling reason for anybody to switch to ATSC3.0. They only want it as a total and complete money grab.

What bothers me is the total waste of broadcasting spectrum in this very crowded market. It has been almost three years now since KFOX converted their broadcast tower to ATSC 3.0 and moved all of their channels to other towers causing noticeable degradation of the picture quality.
I have a Sony TV with 3.0 capabilities but still use the 1.0 version of locals due to the fact that one or all of the 3.0 channels are often missing or unwatchable. In this city of 800K I doubt that more than a few hundred even know about ATSC 3.0.
The only thing that could motivate me to be interested in 3.0 would be if all of the minor networks (diginets) could be in at least 720P rather than blurry ultra-compressed 480i.
Three years is long enough to waste one of the few available RF frequencies in the area for this trial.
It is time to either move on with this experiment or call it quits.

That's not really unusual. Cable companies like to the provide the box too. The phone company provided the phones in until the government forced them to allow third-party phones.

LOL. It depends if the person saw it during the years when they were actually still available which is 1968 to 1983 meaning the person could be 43-58 years old or they can even be a few years old if they learned to read and write at a young age and actually saw a telephone with that label somewhere recently just like even here in San Francisco, payphone still exist physically in public places but whether they can be used or not is a different issue. It still looks like this even today:

I opened my Radio Shack in Sept 1984 and right about that time they did the whole deregulation thing with the phone companies. I bought TONS of those phones that had been refurbished with a new outer shell. You could throw one of those out of a 3 story high window and it would still work.
That was an interesting time in history. I would have older customers come in and ask about phones.....they were terrified that they were going to get into trouble hooking up a second phone without the phone company knowing about it. One of the funniest episodes of WKRP was the one where Johnny thought the cops were showing up because they had an unregistered phone. I guess younger folks can't conceive of a time when you were limited to the number of phones you could have in your house....and limited to the length of the cord 🤣
