I've had my Roku for several months now and had planned on ditching cable and tried leaving it off for a couple weeks, but the Roku just doesn't seem to cut it for watching current episodes of certain shows that keep starting up about the time I think about cancelling. I recently lost my 2nd job and Time Warner keeps raising the rates so I have to do something. Every time I call and try to cancel they give me a "deal" like 10 or 15 bucks off a month, but lately the deals haven't been as good and the price is now up to an all time high of about $155 for internet, digital phone and basic cable. I'm not sure how much it would be if I cancelled the cable part because the prices aren't broken down and they won't give me a direct answer.
?I'm in the process of buying a new computer and somehow signed up for amazon prime so it looks like I can watch a lot of the programming I like on that (I usually only watch A&E, AMC, USA, TNT, HIST and only watch the local channels occasionally for some NFL). But I was also thinking of getting Dish or Direct since its only supposed to be $20-30 a month. The only thing that's holding me back is you have to lock in for 2 years and I know it goes up the second year, but I'm not sure exactly how much. I've had Dish in the past and it looks like it is a little cheaper than Direct, but I think I have to get the top 120 package to get all the channels I like so its a toss up I think. One advantage to Direct is they are offering a $200 prepaid card which would come in handy right now, but I think they are a little more expensive the 2nd year. Another option would be to drop the cable and then see if they try to give me a deal to come back, but I'm not sure how long you have to be off of it to get something like that. Any advice what I should do?

Wasn't exactly sure where to post this. Just had a customer come in inquiring about internet. He has HughesNet and had heard good things about mine. He asked if we provided email addresses and it kinda caught me off guard. I said he should be able to keep whatever email he had been using....my sister in law is still using a BellSouth email addy and they haven't been around here for many years. He said he had gotten a letter from HughesNet stating that they had until Nov 16th to save, move, forward, whatever, their Hughesnet emails because they would lose them after that date.
I have never heard of a company simply mass-deleting email accounts (the customer still has his HughesNet service). From what I understand, in the past, the company who was ditching their email service simply sold the customer base to a company like Google.
Anyone else getting this letter. He said he would show it to me tomorrow when I go out there and set up his internet.

So, this means that those of us with Commercial Free subs, won't be Commercial Free, unless we wait till after the show is over ?

Paramount+ has always had the CBS shows on the CBS local channel and yes with commercials. What they are doing now is releasing the OnDemand versions of the show which I believe they don't release until after the shows air on the west coast. And they will be commercial free if you subscribe to the ad free version of Paramount+.So, this means that those of us with Commercial Free subs, won't be Commercial Free, unless we wait till after the show is over ?

To each there own but I've found that Windows can't do much more than Linux can. Can't have everything.
For niche use cases, yes I agree. Kali for ethical hacking and security testing, and running a Cacti server for network monitoring are the two things I have experience in. Plus thousands and thousands of other things, but for every day use I just can't see it. The owner of the GMRS repeater that I pay to access is changing the Tx DPL tones tomorrow, while Chirp is available on Linux, the software to program my MXT500 is not.To each there own but I've found that Windows can't do much more than Linux can. Can't have everything.
I run Fedora and Ubuntu in VMWare, honestly I don't care much for the UI of either of them and I don't feel like spending days/weeks to customize the UI to make it look Windows-like when I could just use Windows. The cartoonish dock at the bottom of the screen reminds me of Apple products.
For some reason, the satelliteguys.us site is loading a lot slower than usual on both Chrome on my Asus laptop and Safari on my iPhone.
I'm also seeing longer appearances of the blue bar at the top and the "3 blue bars" loading symbol.
Is anyone else also having the same problem? Thanks in advance.

Not for me, mines has no mention of how long aka the offer period and the Terms and conditions the $0.00 is good for. All I see is one can lose $5.00 if you decide to remove it before day 31 after you add it to the account.
