The Titanium Satellite ASC1 Actuator Motor and Polorotor Skew Controller has been manufactured and is now in route to our facility.

ASC1_Rear_600x.jpg

Reseller samples will be available on November 20th. Check back on this forum on December 1st for a contest to win this revolutionary dish motor and polarity controller.

Simple
Do you remember when you could simply change channels on your C-band receiver and the your BUD dish automatically moved and the polarity was automatically selected? If the signal wasn't strong enough or it had interference, you would press the skew left or skew right to raise the signal strength, attenuate interference and improve the picture quality? Titanium Satellite remembers and decided that it was time to once again make it easy to watch satellite TV, scan for new channels and provide the optimized reception that is required for reliable reception of the new demanding digital modulations!

Available
There are hundreds and hundreds of C-band TV channels and thousands of radio services that are free and completely legal to enjoy. There are so many more free channels than were available even "back in the day". Yep, we remember the golden age of C-band. Almost every house in the neighborhood had a big dish and we paid thousands of dollars for equipment to watch free back-hauls and movie channels with stunning picture quality. C-band dishes are now free for the removal and usually the motors only need cleaning and grease. Feedhorns might need a wasp nest removed or a LNB replaced, but this gear was built to last and usually still is working great 30 years later! The ASC1's MSRP of $195 is about 1/3rd of the cost of a dish mover in the 1980's. The ASC1 will interface with almost any digital satellite receiver to automatically control the dish movement and polarity setting.

Performance
Do you want the performance of a polorotor feedhorn and the convenience of automatic polarity and optimized skew offset with fine tuning? Is it your dream not to juggle a legacy analog or 4DTV receiver remote just to move the dish and switch polarities each time you change the channel on the digital satellite receiver! Now any member of the house can simply change channels on your favorite digital DVBS/S2 receiver and the dish will automatically move and the polarity and offset skew is automatically selected. No more trying to remember what button sequence to move the dish to the right satellite or which channel to select to provide the correct polarity.

Compatible

The ASC1 is truly a heavy duty and quality built prosumer grade controller that provides features and functions that are not even available on expensive commercial rack mount controllers costing 10x more! The ASC1 works with virtually all MPEG2/4, DVBS/S2 DiSEqC 1.2 satellite receivers and can be manually controlled by front panel or the included IR remote control if used with any receiver not supporting the standard DiSEqC 1.2 protocol. The ASC1 controls motorized linear actuators or Horizon to Horizon type dishes with reed switch type counter, mechanical or voltage controlled polarity control, LNBs, LNBFs and pass-through for control of 22Khz and DiSEqC switches. Yes, your favorite DVBS or S2 receiver can now completely control both small motorized KU dishes and the larger C-band "BUD" dishes.

Powerful
Designed with the versatility to control and power both LNBFs, LNBs, pass switch commands and generate or regenerate switching voltages, the ASC1 works on virtually any consumer or commercial system. Packed with the lifting power rated to a maximum of 38Vdc at 5amps, the ASC1 will lift any motorized dish. No other consumer motor controller even comes close to the power provided by the ASC1. The F-fitting port simultaneously provides voltage that is user set to 13/18Vdc, reversed 18/13Vdc, fixed 13Vdc or fixed 18Vdc at 450mA. Our proprietary motor control feature ramps in and out the motor speed at the beginning and end of a motor movement. This minimizes wear and tear on your dish mount and frame. The ramp also allows micro adjustments when fine-tuning the dish positioning. No more speeding past the correct motor landing and having to bump the dish back and forth into position.

Communication

The ASC1 has another great feature not found on any other consumer positioner that will allow Titanium to provide new functions and save you countless hours of programming satellite positions with remote control entry. A free PC based editor and loader software program is available to connect to the ASC1 serial RS-232 port. Update with new firmware, back-up the user database by saving the satellite positions, names and polarity settings with skew offsets as a PC file. Edit satellite names, positioner counts and independent skew offsets for horizontal and vertical polarities. No more losing all of the satellite positions after a factory reset or wearing out your fingers on a remote! Share a satellite positioner file with anther ASC1 user and simply shift the positioner counts, fine tune and save the skew settings to match the new system installation.

International
The user selectable 115/230VAC @ 50/60hz switch and user changeable rear panel fuse block feeds a dual tap transformer allowing the ASC1 to be used anywhere in the world. The user may use the appropriate regional plug configuration and readily available international standard IEC type 3 pin cord to plug into any AC power source and pin configuration. The North American version is delivered with a UL certified cord with the standard 2 blade and ground plug. International stocking distributors will be supplied with the appropriate blade configuration for their region.

Tough
Now lets talk about rugged construction. The machined aluminum housing with louvered side panels and integrated lifting handles are assembled with contrasting Allen Head hardware. The ASC1 not only looks great, but also protects your investment from the bumps and drops as the TV center is rearranged or if the unit is carried outside to align a dish. Heavy duty screw terminals ensure full voltage and sensor counts and securely attach each connection. The front panel features full function control and programming with the seven rubberized buttons and lock-out feature prevents accidental control or programming via the front panel or remote control.

Friendly
The 4 line scrolling green color back lit LCD provides all programming and operational information. This includes the DiSEqC position number, satellite name, positioner count, polarity and +/-45 degree skew offset angle. Indicators show the direction of motor travel and IR/DiSEqC command confirmations and motor/command error descriptions.

Easy
A 22 key IR remote control with included AAA batteries balances well in your hand and the rubberized buttons allow ease of programming for all functions and manual ASC1 operation from the comfort of your easy chair. The line of sight operational range is approximately up to 45 feet and 60 degrees off center.

Great News!

The new shipment of updated ASC1s has cleared customs and are in the Titanium Satellite warehouse. Will be shipping the replacement ASC1s to current owners and completing all open orders over the next few days. All units will be tested prior to shipment.

Current ASC1 owners may keep the original unit for their own personal use. The original ASC1 may be gifted to another party, but only with a disclaimer that the gifted ASC1 is without support or warranty. I only ask that these original ASC1 units not be sold, bartered or traded. If you do not wish to keep the original unit, I will email a return shipping label, but it is completely up to you! A note outlining the return process will be included with the replacement ASC1.

Please note that Titanium Satellite support for these original ASC1 units will end upon receipt of the replacement ASC1. Titanium Satellite will not provide parts, warranty, replacements or repairs for the original ASC1 units. The original ASC1 units are easy to identify as they do not have a serial number affixed. All warrantied ASC1 units have been issued a serial number that is recorded in our system, labeled on the bottom of the case and another on the outside of the giftbox. The Titanium Satellite ASC1 warranty, parts, replacements and repairs are only available for serialized units provided with an original proof of purchase. The new replacement ASC1 unit will be shipped with a new zero cost invoice, listing the serial number(s). The one year warranty is renewed and effective as of the new invoice date! :D

The original ASC1 units may be fixed by any technician following proper safety procedures, familiar and capable of performing surface mount component repair. Only a few capacitors and resistors need to reworked to provide full 22KHz / DiSEqC function and pass-through, but the rework is very precise and the PCB can be very easily damaged. Tomorrow, I will be posting the hardware modification and parts list in the forums.

Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding!

Just to put a wrap on this thread....

ASC1 version 2 units are shipping and we are about half way through the replacement list. All replacement units will be shipped by mid-week. :D

ASC1 Serial Label.JPG
ASC1 version 2 units have a serial number affixed to the bottom of the case. This serial number is documented in the customer's or reseller's account and your one year warranty starts fresh upon delivery!

A major firmware version 20140210v2 has been released today adding new features that you have been requesting!

A quality, yet inexpensive USB updating cable has been tested and approved. It works flawlessly with XP/Win7/Win8. Keep a lookout at www.titaniumsatellite.com/products for their arrival. Target MSRP $5.00

Your interest and the sales of the ASC1 have surpassed my expectations! Thank you everyone for your support and patience!

For the naysayers who did not think this service would make it, just added another 4.9M subscribers and that was after the removal of 1.2M Russia subscribers.

This is even better, Paramount+ revenue grew 120% and Subscription revenue grew 74% year-over-year ( 2nd quarter 2021/ 2nd quarter 2022) to $830M, principally reflecting paid subscriber growth on Paramount+.

Now compare that to Peacock with only 13 million paid, 13 million free.

Just noticed, CBS shows on Paramount+ are now same day premieres vs next day, which is how they used to be.

Also in 4K/HDR/DV.

I wonder how providers feel about this, they pay an expensive per sub fee for CBS, who is giving another positive reason to drop Paid Live TV and subscribe to P+.

So, this means that those of us with Commercial Free subs, won't be Commercial Free, unless we wait till after the show is over ?
Which would make same day, not that big of a deal.

Paramount+ has always had the CBS shows on the CBS local channel and yes with commercials. What they are doing now is releasing the OnDemand versions of the show which I believe they don't release until after the shows air on the west coast. And they will be commercial free if you subscribe to the ad free version of Paramount+.

So, the New season won't be on the same day commercial free ???

Looks like the On Demand will Still be the Next Day ...

If you have the Top tier, you could get the LIVE Network feed same as any Cable or OTA would.

Watching it on the CBS local on Paramount+ is the exact same as watching it on your CBS local on your current cable/satellite/mvpd/vMVPD service. The OnDemand versions of it can be released on the same day that it airs but usually it is after the show airs on the west coast so if you have a show at 7:00 pm in your time zone and it airs 3 hours later on the west coast at 10:00 pm your time then they could release it at 11:00 pm your time if it was a one hour show. I really have not checked to see what time I can see the ad free OnDemand shows on Paramount+. I know today that last nights FBI and CIA show did not pop into the Up Next row on my Apple TV until this afternoon. I guess it may have been in Paramount+ since last night but I never checked it.

If it wasn't for what I want, I wouldn't need any of this.

Do I need a collection of handheld radios, scanners and speed enforcement countermeasures? Nope, but I want them. Very little, if any of the software used to interface with these devices is available on Linux.

For niche use cases, yes I agree. Kali for ethical hacking and security testing, and running a Cacti server for network monitoring are the two things I have experience in. Plus thousands and thousands of other things, but for every day use I just can't see it. The owner of the GMRS repeater that I pay to access is changing the Tx DPL tones tomorrow, while Chirp is available on Linux, the software to program my MXT500 is not.

I run Fedora and Ubuntu in VMWare, honestly I don't care much for the UI of either of them and I don't feel like spending days/weeks to customize the UI to make it look Windows-like when I could just use Windows. The cartoonish dock at the bottom of the screen reminds me of Apple products.

What is so fantabulous about the Windows UI? By many accounts, it has been going downhill since Windows 7.

There are Linux desktops that offer Windows or Mac UIs, yet you don't hear much chatter about them outside of questions about when the creators might get sued.

Because it's what I prefer. I know I've said this a few times, I use Open Shell to give me the cascading start menu a la WIN 95 and NT4.0. The only reason I went from Windows Vista to 7 back in the day was because of Classic Shell. I cannot stand anything other than the OG start menu from 30+ years ago. I'm using ExplorerPatcher to give me Windows 10 UI elements of the taskbar and right click context menus.

If you could take a look at how I set up Windows 95, you'd find many similarities to how I use 11.

I could probably use that as a starting point, but I don't like the full size icons. If you have to click on each folder that's also a no-go for me, it has to be cascading.

I used to have Peppermint Linux in a VM, that was about as close as I could get to recreating a Windows NT4.0 style of menu structure, but I could never get it to scale properly in VMWare on a 4K display and eventually gave up.

Whatever the boot up time it's fine with me. The longest part of my bootup is the HP SureStart BIOS integrity check. Once that is done, it's only a few more seconds. I haven't done this reg tweak yet since the reformat, but I switched the bootup animation to the Windows 10 style spinning circle of dots, and it's two and a half rotations. I can live with that.

I hope you don't believe that makes it wonderful (especially when you're using workarounds for Microsoft's malfeasance).

I use LibreOffice as opposed to Microsoft office (even in Windows) because it's UI is like the Office of old, so I'm putting my money where my mouth is (in a manner of speaking). The ribbon was one of the worst ideas to come out Redmond.

For some reason, the satelliteguys.us site is loading a lot slower than usual on both Chrome on my Asus laptop and Safari on my iPhone.
I'm also seeing longer appearances of the blue bar at the top and the "3 blue bars" loading symbol.
Is anyone else also having the same problem? Thanks in advance.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

I don't know if things are different with Dish but when I first rejoined DirecTV a few years ago Solid Signal was able to create my account and activate the equipment I got from them on a self-install without a truck roll.

Help, I'm a little confjused on the activation process.
I purchased the Joey 4 from Solid Signal and shipping box has Call 866 726-4282 to Avtivate new Receiver. That number is Solid Signals number.
I googled and that search said call Dish to activate. I assume that is correct unless this requires a 2 step process.
Please let me know.
Thanks
just call dish and iggy the number from solid signal!!
