Wasn't the firmware for the X2 remade for US-only? Or at least for awhile. Had a US-satellite list preloaded too.Firmware in mine is dated sept24, and I can't see anything about hacking or loading keys or anything in it, That was the firmware that seemed to make mine scan and operate the best, so I quit updating it after that. And mine's not connected to the internet so it can't update itself.

For quite a while they didn't put that stuff in the firmware and then all of a sudden it was in every one. I don't remember the problems I had with the older firmwares that made me upgrade, other than the clock, which I could live with. Might've been with switches in series, as Kodaz mentioned.

Kodaz, does the new firmware you're messing with now have that stuff in it?

It does, but's hidden by default, at least since their November release. One would have have to enable that stuff explicitly, in order to use it. Aside from feeling guilty for buying a shady box, it's a great bang for the buck for ppl on the budget wanting to enjoy HD FTA. Amazon now links directly to discover card cash back bonus, so my total bill ended up even lower than $55 :D Cheers

Hummm, some interesting talk about the X2. I bought one several weeks ago from Amazon. I bought it because I thought it was a good buy for the money. The first thing I did was to update the firmware. I didn't receive any preloaded BISS keys. It doesn't receive anything it's not supposed to (at least in my case). The BISS menu
isn't enabled by default, you have to enter a special code to enable it. The blind scan is very fast. I blind scanned 47 birds "FTA TV ONLY" in 3 hours. And it didn't miss a single channel. It picked up a noticeable amount of new channels compared to my old receiver. And, the new channels it picked up were all in the clear. I'm not using it for anything illegal, nor will I ever engage in that sort of activity. Besides, I have DISH. If there is something that is scrambled that I just have to see, I'll just turn on the HOPPER. The X2 isn't perfect, IMHO the manual is useless. Sometimes, after channel surfing the picture and sound will start breaking up. In order to correct that I have to power cycle the X2. Something interesting that I did notice is that the X2 likes to ping it's home server in China on a regular basis. That is if you have it connected up to the internet like I do. There is no exchange of data ... just a ping ... which isn't a crime. Anyway, this is my 2 cents on the X2.

Have you used wireshark? It would be cool to capture the packets when calling home even if its just a ping.

Hi Wally, I've heard of wireshark but I don't have it. Sometimes I do a "tcpdump -i eth0" to see who's knocking on my door. That's how I saw the
outgoing ping from the X2. When I saw the IP number, then I did a WHOIS 1.2.3.4 to see who it was pinging. China of course. I don't remember
the name of the owner at the moment.

I'm getting fabulous picture on Ch. 148 4k, but zero audio with H713. This is with a recorded show (Notre Dame game). Anyone else have this? Audio is fine on every other channel.

It's a known issue.
For a temporary fix, go into the menu, Audio, and turn Dolby Audio "OFF". You will have PCM stereo audio.

I was able to give the tech ops team some data logs so they could diagnose the problem, and they rolled me back to H708 temporarily. It fixed that issue.

They let me know that they understand what caused the issue, and it will be fixed within a few weeks in a new update.

I guess they will be busy when lots of people start asking for rollbacks to H708 now that you mention that downgrades of software does exist because it will likely fix the OTA Single Tuner and the IR Remote problems in H710-H713.

The future of Stargate is in question today, as SCI FI Channel has cancelled the long-running Stargate SG-1, Multichannel News reported today and a GateWorld source has confirmed. The news regrettably follows the airing of the show's milestone two-hundredth episode on Friday.

Stargate Atlantis, meanwhile, has been renewed for a fourth season, with the network hoping to see that the spin-off series can stand alone, according to a source.

Well, there are a couple involving the Antarctic. "Solitudes", S1 E17 (one of my favorites), Then, "Lost City', S7 E21 and E22. Then, in the SGA pilot, "Rising", S1 E1 and E2, it starts out in the Antarctic for about the first 20 minutes or so.

If I understand your question, O'Neill had the Ancient's knowledge in the "Lost City" two-part episode. That was when Anubis attacked Earth and there was a big battle over Antarctica.
