Last weekend I got in on a MLB game top of the 8th 1-1, first thought was extra innings... :D and it actually went extra after the 9th.
Catching a little of the AUSL, something to watch when I can't get into anything else.

I watched some of the OKC Texas game on dvr this afternoon while visiting my mom. I had set it to record the season for her, but she has trouble with using the dvr and barely can use the live guide. Usually softball is the first suggestion YTTV puts up when she clicks the tile though, so it works well enough for her.

Dish/Directv both will be around (likely combined and rebranded) for at least another 10-15 years.
Yes, the number of subscribers will continue to decrease over time but that is not the end of the world as some like to predict.

And, the business will make money during that time, perhaps not much, but it will be profitable.

AFAIK Verizon has no roaming partners anymore, they think their network is so good they don't need them, or the population of the area is so miniscule they don't care (see above; great roaming with TMO in Four Corners, VZW had no service at all). Verizon actually yanked towers down from parts of rural Missouri several years ago.

Opposite with me in Western NC. T-Mobile is non-existent in these parts.

Same thing with where our lake house is up in Northern New York. TMO, forget about it while Verizon has minimal signal, but still signal.

They're now in the guide, along with duplicates in the 205s
lordodogg
Seeing them. In fact one of the channels currently has a title that doesn't look like something we're supposed to see: "Upcoming: Golf Special Event USA vc 903" on 903 (the duplicate on 205-3 just says TBA)
They also still haven't removed the College Mix on 205-1, so there's two 205-1's, that and a duplicate of 901
K
The Scripps dispute is over, during the dispute WNPX/28 Nashville rebranded from Ion to The Spot. WSFL/39 Miami and WHDT/59 West Palm Beach also switched to The Spot branding in June.

Also, they always remove 205-1 CMX a few days before the sports expierence mix on 205-1 is scheduled to go live, and then bring it back a few days later.

So the latest spectrum sell off isn't a done deal yet but has anyone been discussing or hear of new 5G filter or LNBF with filter options if we are down to 4.1x-4.2GHz? Without a new LNBF, it seems like it would be the end.

In my opinion, this transition is driven by greed, not need...

The investment in the Blue filter LNBF production has been more like my donation to the satellite hobby. Have recouped only a portion of the C140 / C240 development cost, but in the bigger picture, the larger housing may prove to be suitable for a new reduced bandpass PCB. Too early to make decisions based on speculation. I'll wait for an auction and implementation schedule.

Hobbyists are often a strange group to sell to. Will spend $8 daily on a coffee, $25 for a McDonald's meal, $800 on a phone, Thousands on cellular/Internet/streaming, but refuse to spend $80-100 on an occasional hardware upgrade... :rolleyes

I Don't waste money on Coffee. Haven't touched Mc Donalds for over 26 years. I cook at home. Rarely eat out. Only special occasions. I spend no money on Cellular. I don't own a cell phone. I have no streaming services. I would totally pay $80-$100.00 for a hardware upgrade for a hobby that brings me lots of joy and fun.

In my humble opinion, most people have screwed up priorities.

I agree that a 20MHz band would effectively kill the C-band hobby, as the grade of narrow bandpass filter would be cost prohibitive and only be effective in a mechanical waveguide configuration. Single transponder pass type filters have existed since the 80's and a hobbyist could retune one of these custom filters for the narrow band.

We will wait and see what spectrum is offered and who purchases (or if it is sold).

Unfortunately, the FCC has once again ignored international standards and proposed a standard or range that is unique to CONUS. Over and over, the FCC have been bought out and the rarely does "Joe Average" benefit. NTSC, ATSC, QAM, NextGen, CEA-608, CEA-708, this list goes on... This means that we have to develop hardware that has a limited distribution and cannot benefit from global mass manufacturing.

spectrum is the golden goose, they can keep selling it again and again and they didn't even have to buy it in the first place

Well, that's your opinion. No one is going to tell me what my priorities should be since they don't know my situation. Just sayin'.

I suppose that I could re-purpose my 12 footers for Ku but only if there are enough services are worth watching on Ku.
K
The FCC talked about auctioning off up to 180 MHz of C-band, but ended up settling on 160 MHz. The frequencies from 4160 to 4200 MHz will remain available for satellite downlink. That's 40 MHz of bandwidth.

The deadline to clear the frequencies from 4000 to 4160 MHz from satellite use is December 31, 2030 in the 75 largest markets in the contiguous United States and June 30, 2031 in the remainder of the contiguous United States.

This is all laid out in the FCC's Upper C-band Auction Report and Order, Order of Proposed Modification, and Order on Reconsideration published in advance of the July 2026 Open Commission Meeting. Technically, what's mentioned in the document still requires approval by a vote of the commission on July 22, but these votes are usually just formalities, leaving the draft text more or less a done deal.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

The missing 540-01channel showed up after the local were addend. Any idea what fixed the problem?

I now have 01, 02, 03, 05, 06, and 07.

Nice watching the World Cup in 4K.

540-01 is kind of the 4K version of your local Fox channel. I believe you needed to sub to local channels to receive it.
