bought my own equipment. ..dish cant activate

hi...bought 4k hopper and joey..dish installer went to activate and dish said it can not be done because i am in a low beam area? i live in Leland, NC 28451...i am lost for words

Well I was not going to read this thread but I'm glad I did. I am thinking a Hopper 3 plus 1 Joey 2.0 and all of the installation hardware I need to
install the system myself. Is there any way to insure before I buy this equipment that Dish will activate my new receiver when the time comes?
I know when I installed my 722K I had to argue with the customer support person that I didn't need to schedule an installation. I ended
up hanging up and call Tech Support and they were more than happy to activate my new 722K.

You may want to get a hold of a DIRT member on here and give them your address to confirm you can activate a Hopper 3 on your account.

If you have any questions let me know or just post it on here. I'm not the only one who did a self install.

OH I know about that owned/leased equipment problem very well. It took me about a year for dish to acknowledge my equipment was bought by me. Even after faxing them the receipts
they wouldn't change it. I finally got hold of someone in the executive offices about it and sent the documentation to them. That fixed the problem. I would think that by now Dish'es computer system would be advanced enough to see that I didn't order any equipment from them and would mark my equipment as bought not leased.

Maybe you should contact DIRT here, yes. Starting point is to find out how your account is tagged, perhaps it is tagged incorrectly. From the few hints in this thread it seems possible to me you are tagged as being on the Western ARC. Were you ever on it or had a Wing dish? In any case first find that out, make sure it is tagged that you are on the Eastern ARC. Then see what DIRT can do for you.

thanks DIRT....today my hopper 3 ank joey4k has been activated. now to figute out why i have a giant black box on my screen......also wish the next software update will allow the tip banner to be removed.

I would do a reset of the H3. I had that problem once, during installation, and never saw it again after a reset.

thanks....i cant tell you how happy u am DIRT helped clear up that low beam issue.

I can explain a little, and it may make sense. I doubt too much has changed... When adding equipment the CS has to add in manually. At one point, it asks if leased, if leased through retailer, purchased or purchased through a retailer and there was one other option... It's one of those things that CS just selects the same thing over and over, it's not even thought about. ITs so easy to select leased, even though this was easier than when it was automatic. Sounds weird, and since his was one of their highly touted features when they changed their internal system, I can only imagine that the concept has remained the same with some tweaks.

SpaceX has held talks with Boost's parent company EchoStar in recent months about launching its own signature wireless service through a deal with the company, according to two people familiar with the negotiations.
Musk, the SpaceX CEO, has discussed the deal personally, meeting with EchoStar chairman Charlie Ergen last month, according to the people. The potential deal may result in SpaceX acquiring Boost Mobile or SpaceX gaining access to its network, which it leases from AT&T and T-Mobile US, the people said.
Access to those lease agreements would be a coup for SpaceX. The back door would allow Musk to make a play for a U.S. wireless market that equity research firm MoffettNathanson estimates is worth $235 billion. But the proposed service may need consent from those carriers for the service to actually launch, the people said.

Can't remember where or who I saw predict this.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Elon soon own all of DISH / Echostar in the future.

Again, why would Musk want a TV Service, specially one that is losing over a million subscribers a year.

Again, if so, why would he want Dish/Sling of all the providers?

He could deliver anything without actually owning, for example, watching the Lions game in my Tesla Y on it's screen via the YT app, while on the way to my future in-laws on Sunday.

If Musk really wants to buy Boost, he might get a great price once Dish Wireless is out of Chapter 11.

Other than the price, my experience with Boost is not that different than what I experienced with my years with Cricket. I will be curious to see what happens if SpaceX takes the reins.
