I have an old 612 and just bought a new soundbar. The 612 is connected to the TV with HDMI, and the soundbar is connected to the TV with an optical cable. If I use the TV's internal tuner, the Dolby Digital light on the soundbar comes on. If I am using the 612, I can't get the DD light to come on.

The 612 is set to DD/PCM in the audio output menu, and obviously the TV is set correctly since it works with the internal tuner.

Doesn't the 612 have an optical out? You can run HDMI to the TV and optical out from the 612 to the sound bar.
Two of my TVs (both over 10 years old) cannot pass through DD from an HDMI source. The third (only 18 months old) does.
I currently have my 622 hooked up to my receiver via optical out and the TV via HDMI. I also have the TV hooked up to the receiver via its optical output.

One other thing, at one time when you had the "Alternate Audio" set to anything other than English, it would sometimes affect the 622's optical output's ability to output DD even if there were no alternate audio. This was on the few SD channels that used to have DD a while ago. I don't think it's an issue with the HD channels, but something to check.

Excellent point I do think DD does not work if an alternate audio is used.
There is indeed an optical out on the 612. I have never used it, I don't know if audio goes to both it and the HDMI simultaneously. (Probably does) I also don't know if there would be an audio delay problem, but certainly worth trying.

When I had my 722k's running attached to the Logitech Revue's(remember them), the DD wouldn't pass through the Revue while the HDMI cable was hooked up from the 722k to the HDMI cable in on the Revue, & the HDMI cable out from the Revue to either my tv or audio/video receiver. I had to use the digital optical output on the 722k in order to get DD sound. You should be able to use HDMI for video AND digital optical output on your ViP at the same time.

I vaguely remember doing that.

IIRC the 622 and 612 are identical except for the second output. So I don't see why the optical out would not work at the same time as HDMI. There IS a very slight audio delay. I'd say about 50ms. It is noticeable, but only just.

SpaceX has held talks with Boost's parent company EchoStar in recent months about launching its own signature wireless service through a deal with the company, according to two people familiar with the negotiations.
Musk, the SpaceX CEO, has discussed the deal personally, meeting with EchoStar chairman Charlie Ergen last month, according to the people. The potential deal may result in SpaceX acquiring Boost Mobile or SpaceX gaining access to its network, which it leases from AT&T and T-Mobile US, the people said.
Access to those lease agreements would be a coup for SpaceX. The back door would allow Musk to make a play for a U.S. wireless market that equity research firm MoffettNathanson estimates is worth $235 billion. But the proposed service may need consent from those carriers for the service to actually launch, the people said.

Can't remember where or who I saw predict this. :D

It wouldn't surprise me to see Elon soon own all of DISH / Echostar in the future.

Again, why would Musk want a TV Service, specially one that is losing over a million subscribers a year.

Phone service…maybe, but not TV.

I know he wants TV. He wants to deliver EVERYTHING to EVERYWHERE.

I know he wants TV. He wants to deliver EVERYTHING to EVERYWHERE.
Again, if so, why would he want Dish/Sling of all the providers?

He could deliver anything without actually owning, for example, watching the Lions game in my Tesla Y on it's screen via the YT app, while on the way to my future in-laws on Sunday.

If Musk really wants to buy Boost, he might get a great price once Dish Wireless is out of Chapter 11.

Boost just lost 182,000 subs in the 3rd quarter-

M
Is Dish like Iran in one way...they both will totally collapse by end of week :)
Foxbat
Other than the price, my experience with Boost is not that different than what I experienced with my years with Cricket. I will be curious to see what happens if SpaceX takes the reins.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

Rodney Dangerfield is great. One of his best one liners - "My wife likes to talk to me during sex, last night she called me from Florida!"

Jackie Gleason is another one of the greats.
