Seems to me that, if you credit qualify, signing up under the DHA 24 Price Guarantee promo would make more sense than the route you are taking. Factoring in the upfront costs you're paying and the lack of monthly discounts on the Flex promo, I'd bet that any Early Termination Fee you might pay under the DHA24 promo would be well less than what you are planning to spend.
D
Clearly the OP is paying MORE for the principal of not having a contract, which I would agree with except it does work out to being LESS money out with the current credit qualifying: The OP's route is MORE expensive. Now, add to that if he is stuck with Dish H3 and whatever boxes. It's going to cost him at least a little money to sell the Dish boxes even at ebay or just have to take a little less than he paid if on Craig's. If people can find it cheaper on line or on ebay, people aren't going to pay the OP so that he is whole. It will be a net LOSS as opposed to the credit qualifying proms EVEN IF HE PAY ETF!!! (as the OP loves triple exclamation marks !!!).

Since the only reason cited by the OP was not wanting to have a contract (presuming he has qualifying credit), then this is a prefect example of a personal desire (no contract) costing him MORE money that otherwise the case. That makes no sense!!! Yeah, if someone has a Dish ready residence or get the equipment for free or a super cheap price, and then they pay a local retailer for the install, then YEAH, going Flex or month to month with no contract can make sense. The whole point of the credit qualifying 12 or 24 month price lock (and the OP get NO PRICE lock on Flex?) is that it is LESS expensive than people paying for all the parts and labor themselves. Yes, you are on contract, but in this case taking into account all his costs that he cited, even if he pays the ETF, his is out LESS money than the way he wants to do it just to avoid a contract.

This is probably why something like 80+% of new small or personal businesses fail in the US each year. No business sense, or more accurately bad business decisions such as pursuing the MORE expensive, COSTLY path for some odd personal view when taking the contract, better business route is bottom line CHEAPER!!! The same people who buy the "special" of 2 loaves of bread for $3 even though they they saw the same loaves of bread priced yesterday at only $1 per loaf. Economists recognize this psychology and it is costly to the consumer but great profits for the seller using "value pricing."

true but i don't think that dish would do an install on a boat :eeek. my credit score is in the 800s so yes i would more than qualify for the freebies and goodies and all that

Your OP was inquiring about what your install would include and would DISH do a boat or Non-Pen dockside install. The answers to those questions would be the same regardless of the promotion you chose to activate under. As far as the install question goes, DISH installers will not do a boat install and will not likely do a dockside install either. You'll need to go through a local retailer/installer to get that done. I've done several Dockside installs in the Delta and at area lakes over the years so it can be done.

i belive the install will include 100 FT of RG6 cable the node for the joey and the inital setup of the hopper 3 and 4k joey and programming of the remotes to the t.v.s. i won't be using a sled since i got permission to drill holes. my guess would be that the sled would not be included in the cost!!! and there gonna teach me how to run the hopper and make sure it's working and that i know how to run it.. i am also sure that they will hook it up to my surround sound system. i know they will call in and have me pick a package and activate the units to make sure the unit is in working order and that i'm getting all of the channels that i am suppossed to.. as i found someone to do the install for 199 and not 300 bucks because i didn't buy it from them!!! and it will include the dish and the hybrid LNB

when speaking with josh from solid signal and weighing out my options and going through the pros and cons of each provider though he did try pushing TWC on me and told me it would be a better deal... i will agree with him on that.. but TWC'S DVR'S suck there slow and laggy and they freeze up.. and there PQ isn't the best either it breaks up and theres alot of pixelization!!!

i would just use my friends account from TWC and download the free wifi finder and goto there webpage and click on watch tv and choose what i want to watch. been there done that the picture breaks up and theres pixelization and it also keeps buffering even with a 300 mbps connection.. i think it's something in there page

Actually it makes perfect sense. Some of us don't like contracts so we buy the equipment and will pay more. Get over it.

There are several other threads going on how people are paying 600 to 700 bucks for non contract smart phones. Same thing.

We don't all want to be drones to the big company contracts...

Finished the 2nd episode tonight. I'm really liking it so far.

Still hate weekly releases though, especially the way Disney and HBO do it waiting until 8pm to premiere it.

Apparently I'm not a big enough nerd🤓 since I did not read every Marvel Comic Book ever published. If I had, I might be comparing the comics' version of events compared to what's transpiring in "Visionquest". So, I am enjoying the series a lot, not weighed down by previous expectations, knowing only the Avengers MCU movies and the "Wandavision" / "Agatha All Along" TV series.

I found the Mr Know-it-All channel from his discussion about "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" and he's been gleefully picking these episodes apart, referencing the Marvel comics from the 1939 on. Turns out A.I. has been around since before World War II, at least in the comics. (Robots before that, yes, yes.) This show is going back into the archives.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

SpaceX has held talks with Boost's parent company EchoStar in recent months about launching its own signature wireless service through a deal with the company, according to two people familiar with the negotiations.
Musk, the SpaceX CEO, has discussed the deal personally, meeting with EchoStar chairman Charlie Ergen last month, according to the people. The potential deal may result in SpaceX acquiring Boost Mobile or SpaceX gaining access to its network, which it leases from AT&T and T-Mobile US, the people said.
Access to those lease agreements would be a coup for SpaceX. The back door would allow Musk to make a play for a U.S. wireless market that equity research firm MoffettNathanson estimates is worth $235 billion. But the proposed service may need consent from those carriers for the service to actually launch, the people said.

Can't remember where or who I saw predict this. :D

It wouldn't surprise me to see Elon soon own all of DISH / Echostar in the future.

Again, why would Musk want a TV Service, specially one that is losing over a million subscribers a year.

Phone service…maybe, but not TV.

Again, if so, why would he want Dish/Sling of all the providers?

He could deliver anything without actually owning, for example, watching the Lions game in my Tesla Y on it's screen via the YT app, while on the way to my future in-laws on Sunday.

Just a guess on my part but there may be some value to aquring to get all the retransmision agreements that are in place even though at some point they need to be renewed

If Musk really wants to buy Boost, he might get a great price once Dish Wireless is out of Chapter 11.

Boost just lost 182,000 subs in the 3rd quarter-

M
Is Dish like Iran in one way...they both will totally collapse by end of week :)

Other than the price, my experience with Boost is not that different than what I experienced with my years with Cricket. I will be curious to see what happens if SpaceX takes the reins.

I have Dish with Hopper3. I choose to get local channels OTA and had a "guide list" established at my previous home. Having moved a few miles away, I wanted to update the list by appending a couple new stations via a rescan. As many would know, some stations come in with the UHF/VHF antenna aimed in one direction, while others come in better with a different direction.

Unfortunately, when a scan is done (bringing in 25-30 stations for that particular antenna aim), the dialog screen does not present the established guide list; it presents an empty field to the right that the scanned stations may be selected one by one and added to the empty guide. But because of antenna aim, some stations originally saved are missing, and would have to be retrieved with a different antenna aim. But as I explain, if a 2nd scan is done with a different antenna aim, the stations saved from the first scan are lost.

It troubles me that Dish didn't develop software that would allow a user to simply append only 1 or 2 channels to the established list.

Any thought on this? Has anyone experienced this or heard of this from others?

I could very well be wrong....it has been a LOT of years but back when I had a 722K it seemed like when you went back to the scan screen that you could just scan again and it would ADD those channels to the previous list or you could delete the previous results and only add the channels from the new scan.

I am not sure about that but I do know that you could manually add additional channels just by entering the actual RF channel number and the older receivers would add the virtual channels to your list

Like I said.....that has been many years ago. Swapped my 722K for a Hopper in 2012.

It does seem like I remember having to delete the existing channels when we did a rescan. Back then our local stations KEPT monkeying around with things and it was non-stop complaints from customers about their channels not coming in. Got so bad that I stopped selling OR installing OTAs....something I had been doing since 1984 so you know it HAD to be pretty bad.

Balls
Bears. Took care of the elite Seahawks defense in a great performance.
NFC North. The entire division is 2 games above .500
Lions. Finally handed an L to that weird Minnesota team. Good vibes for Jack Campbell.
Pitt. Took the lead of the division convincingly.
Bengals vs Titans game. Fireworks game. Not sure it was a well-played game, but it sure was fun. JoeyB with 6 scores... and 4 turnovers.
Denver. They keep winning, man. Payton is a baller of a coach.
Packers. Thorough beatdown of the hard-to-read Panthers.
Jags. Demolished the hapless Colts.
Rams. The Super team finally wins back-to-back games.

Goats
Vikings. Took their first L. I know their D is insane, but their offense is setting back football to the 1950's.
Cowboys. Lost a 2-score lead vs. the Gardner Minshew-led Cards... at home. Embarrassing.
Browns. Playing for the division lead by scoring 6 points.
Bucs vs Falcons game. Setting modern football back to the ice age. Honorable mention to Tua Penix err ... Michael Tagov .... well, you know what I mean.
Bengals fans acting like Burrow just won the MVP after his performance. I get it. 6 scores is awesome. But. He also turned the ball over 4 times and required overtime to beat the 1-win Titans. So spare me the parade.
Chiefs. Not because they lost. It was a close game decided on the last play vs. a divisional rival on the road. That's always rough. But because of their whining over the CLEAR flag they got on the would-be winning play. They are used to getting the calls, and when they don't, they complain. Honorable mention to Mahomes for this quote: "I mean, at the end of the day, you have to go with whatever is called, but a lot of times in those big moments, the little stuff doesn't get called like that"... so you admit it was a penalty?? Just shut up, man.
Colts. They began the fire sale earlier in the week, and it showed. This team is cooked; Daniel Jones should go to the bench, and Steichen will be fired pretty soon.
Chargers. Wow. That's all I got.
Miami. For having the Pats sort of on the ropes and letting them go.
Eagles. Another team that should consider selling some assets. They are going nowhere.

The NFL, for some time, has protected the marquee quarterbacks. Brady, Mahomes, Allen, Burrow - they all get the calls.
The lower tier QBs don't seem to get the same benefit. For instance, some of the hits that Darnold took from Chicago on Monday night would have been a flag frenzy if any of the marquee QBs were hit like that. And I am not in any way a fan of anything Seahawks related. I am a fan of balanced officiating - and that hasn't been the case for a while.

My team is not immune to this - Fred Warner laid some vicious hits in the Commanders game that I thought should have been flagged - one was, but they picked it up.

Not a good look on NFL officials.
