That article appears to have been written eight years (and two administrations) ago.

The direction of AM radio doesn't seem to have changed much where I live. I still have to use an Internet radio to pick up my local AM stereo station (KBZY) that is located just eight miles away. If the signal can't get out, there's not much point in worrying about the technology underneath it.

I know this is an ancient thread. Couldn't resist.

Meduci''s radio (the current model) did sound good when a ham operator came to our station last month and parked in the parking lot. He ran one on his dashboard, and I will say it was good. However, the previoius model had some issues. The owner of that company provided us with one to stream and promote, but it had a whistle in it. Didn't matter if it was offsite or on, we tried it from the Ionia Freefair, and it whistled. He DID take it back, and was very gracious about it, as our original agreement was to help each other through mutual benefit. I will say, on brief listen in a vehicle with the (newer model) radio directly plugged into the sound system the ham had in his car, it was a decent rendering of WION's wideband sound.

Since the postings above, we have ceased using a Carver and are using a professional product called the "Potomac Instruments" AM stereo mmonitor to provide the stream. This is the company that also manufactures the devices we measure our AM signals and arrays' patterns-with. There are plans in the works to tune-up our night 3-tower array to equalize the sound offered and better balance the stereo effects when we're using the array and not the single tower.

If I had to choose a receiver available fairly easily on the secondary market, I'd recommend Denon's TU-680(NAB)...we use those in our main studio, engineering, and have found them to be stable, able to handle high signal levels, good high frequency response, good lows, and no need for a switchable NRSC filter which the Carver had. The Carver was too bright with the NRSC filter "out" and we had to filter it for streaming, and was too "dull" if switched in. It's a joy to hear what the Potomac Instruments' does for our station's stream.

If I think of it, we'll let you know when changes are made. I've been away from Satguys too long, but will be reading more in the days to come.

I suspect that it is more likely we'll go the way that Germany did with AM radio before AM stereo catches on.

Is AM Stereo different than AM HD?

I currently have two radios that can tune AM HD. The one in my 2018 Nissan Murano and a Sangean HDR 18 table radio. There is really only one station in the Denver area I care to listen to which is KLVZ 810 (Crawford Broadcasting) a Legends (60's and 70's) station. I still like to listen to AM since I grew up in the 60's with a transistor radio glued to my ear. I used to love to AM DX also but it is harder now with so much interference. Probably my best DX catch was when on vacation in Maui, in 2005, I picked up ABC Radio Emerald, Australia on 1584 AM.

AM stereo (there are multiple technologies) is decidedly different from AM Hybrid Digital. AM stereo is more like FM stereo while HD Radio is a digitally encoded audio stream.

But.....if you like Tulsa King....looks like you would probably like this as well. I don't mind spin-offs as long as they don't involve a sassy niece who moves from the big city

I thought I would come here and find lots of complaints about the update to the dish anywhere mobile app, but am not seeing any. It used to look just like the desktop webpage. Now you can no longer filter by sports channels or movie channels. Plus that they made it look like a big button telephone and you see fewer channels in the screen which requires more scrolling. Yes I realize you can look at sports then select which sport you want to look at, I just liked being able to see all sporting events in the guide with all other channels being filtered out. Am I alone in the wilderness on this?

I'm not a big fan of the new layout, especially on my Apple TV. It used to look like the old Guide layout on the Hopper 3, but they changed parts of that, too.

You don't like Tony, or Tony as the Director (he's only been there for 30 seconds now) or you don't like NCIS ?

No. Bring in someone new.🤔 Tony is not serious enough for me. Parker is too close to the team and Tim is too young to take over IMO.

I don't think Tim and Tony are that far apart in Age ...

Remember what Tony said to Tim when they first got back together ...
Tony said: I am the New Tony, Tim .... (something to that effect)

Tony has changed, he's been running his Security Business ... I'm sure he has grown up.

Give it time ... your judging the New Tony from the old Tony.

It sounds like Tim won't be around the Team much longer either.

Might be worth a watch when it comes out. Looks like typical big corp against the little guy movie BUT....there is a reason this plot type is so oft repeated, it draws audiences.

If you're going try to read / listen to the book (can't recommend the audio book enough) before this comes out, I'd avoid trailers.

Trailer below, spoiling it to make sure you read the above bold message first. The book / audio book are fantastic. Go into this blind if you can IMO!

Kind of disappointed at how much they show. A lot still to see, but man, some good reveals in the book that are just served up here.

I've seen it twice. Can't recommend the audio book enough, Ray Porter's performance is amazing and there's so much more in the book than the movie.

Forgot to comment. I did watch when it first came out on MGM. I enjoyed it a lot. I think reading the book made it easier to watch. Several friends commented it was a little hard to follow.

I agree. That can go for pretty much any book vs movie. Back when I was single I would read any Stephen King or John Grisham book I could get my hands on. When you read a book you make up the scenes and characters in your mind.....the movie version always disappoints.

A big win for the Patriots, and they are now 3-2.

Browns lose a close one with... The Jets. That is a classic Browns loss (granted, any loss is a classic one it seems). 49'ers, Vikings, and Chiefs remain undefeated. The AFC north have a three way tie at 3-2 for second place.

I had quit watching this show years ago because I ended up more annoyed than entertained. Well......I'm STILL more annoyed than entertained. I DO find it interesting to see how things work behind the scenes at many businesses. What annoys me is how utterly out of touch CEOs are with the companies they run. At the end of almost every episode the head of the company is amazed at how hard the employees have to work and many times have to work around impossible guidelines set forth from headquarters.

I found this one interesting because the new CEO had big plans for this company, Muscle Maker Grill, and it looked like the stores were all pretty busy. Recent history hasn't been good to this company however. I bet the covid lockdowns were the real killer.
