I sent an e mail out to Dish to find out if BBC World could be added to AT250. I like the channel and I got the card, plugged it into the 211k and subbed to the news pack for $10 a month, just to get BBC World and the channel is not even in HD. Dish claims the channel is not in AT250 because of a contract issue. Why would that be? The way it is being sold, very few people can view it. I believe the company that controls BBC World in the is Scripps(?) The company that has Discovery. I may be wrong on that, but since Dish has the other Scripps channels and they are available in AT250, why isn't BBC World? Both Direct TV as well as Charter Cable has the channel in their upper tiers in HD. Getting BBC World is not available Ale Carte either as an add on. I have checked it getting it even on a stream. The least expensive way I can do that is to sub through a different company for $18 a month. Even Charter has CNN International which we don't. But I can get the CNN app with my sub to Dish and CNN International does stream for free as long as I have the Dish sub. Does anyone have any thoughts on why Dish has BBC World set up like this, so few people can watch it? Even Russia Today is easy to get compared to BBC World as well as a zillion other International News Channels. Thanks.

I wasn't sure, maybe it is AMC. But still AMC is in the basic packs, so BBC World should be. Direct has it even in HD in their packs.

Well, I remember when AMC used to be included in Welcome Pack. Then, they got kicked off Dish for awhile, and when they returned, they were no longer in Welcome Pack. So, maybe AMC's negotiators were not as good as Scripps's negotiators. :biggrin

Directv has BBC World only in HD in their packages. So, Directv subscribers who were still using old legacy SD receivers could not even access BBC World at all, even if they were paying for it as part of their package. I am not sure what percentage of Dish subscribers were still using legacy (Dish Pro) receivers at the time that Dish negotiated with BBC World, but that could have played a role in the decision to carry it in SD. (I guess the theory being that most people who would be interested in BBC World are International subscribers, and many International subscribers were only using SD equipment since most International channels were only carried in SD at that time.)

I think it is just a conspiracy to prevent us all from getting decent world news. ;)

And now you've got black helicopters coming across the border...
(Seriously, that actually happened. They landed in Los Angeles. It was just a drill, though...or so we are being told on our news. ;) )

Quick tip, Do NOT walk down a motel hallway while in Idaho and dressed in Battle Dress Uniform (BDU) then loudly ask your buddy at what time are the Black Helicopters due. Especially when following LARGE individuals dressed in blue jeans and flannel. Not that I ever did that.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

Who says dinner or lunch has to be the only good meals of the day?

Honey butter grits with scrambled eggs and grilled boneless pork ribs on flakey biscuits washed down with cranberry juice.

I like the Jimmy Fallon channel. This will be its third year. I like that it's all fresh each year. Also fun when he pops on live from time to time.

Terrible tragedy. You would think that they would have safe guards in place that would prevent something like this from happening. I guess if you are going to ride in a passenger train it might be best to get a car near the rear.

They will have to look at the switching sections to determine WHY 2 trains were on the same track ... at the same time.
