That's a pretty good deal. Odd that just streaming and all access are the same price.

Called SiriusXM to cancel, they offered me All Access for $128 for the whole year includes taxes and fees, deal was too good to pass up.
My first year I paid $114.
This is an excellent offer.

I've been doing that the past few years. It was always a bluff (except for this year), but it always works.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

I'm new to Satelliteguys so let me give my perspective on Shaw TV reception from someone living in S. Indiana (about latitude 38.9). I have 4 800 series receivers (so all signals go through a multiswitch) and a 75 cm dish. I recently bought a signal meter, SATLINK WS-6933, but have been unable to measure a meaningful signal with it as the Quality Signal measures 0. Perhaps it's my meter settings or perhaps the incoming satellite signal is too weak. I believe it's the later. In any case, I typically measure the incoming signal by taking a Shaw box and a TV outside positioned next to the dish. If there are no adverse weather conditions, the typical signal level is 60 to 70 and EcbNo is 6.0 to 6.5. All strong enough to give me a decent picture. Below signal level 60, my picture starts fading in and out. On a bad weather day (rain, thunderstorms (not uncommon here), snow, etc.) the signal level typically drops below 60 thus no TV. My cable run for all TVs is about 100 yards from dish to TV and my signal loss seems to be minimal as I'll get similar readings at the dish and at the TV.

So, with that as background, I have 2 questions:
1. To boost the signal level, I'm considering replacing my dish for a larger dish, say 90 cm or 120 cm. I currently have an LNB, Shaw 75E-G1(T000409), so designed specifically to be used with a 75 cm dish. When I noticed my signal level decreasing, about 1 year ago, I replaced the LNB with a brand new one and saw no improvement in the signal level. Would this LNB still work with a larger dish? If so, are there any special adjustments that I would need to make in order to get it working? I know others have larger dishes, as one of the threads mentions someone in Denver with a 2.4m dish so there must be a way to make it work. Any advice on this would be appreciated.
2. To be sure my WS-6933 meter is set correctly, any advice on how to set all of the settings?

Sorry for the long post. Thanks in advance for all input.

Shaw familiar guys can answer better. You say your lnbf is designed for a 75cm dish.
So the feedhorn of the lnbf must be designed to prevent "spillover" to reduce interference from beyond the rim of the dish. If you were to picture the beam angle from the center of the lnbf throat to the dish rim in a V. Your focus is very close to the apex of the angle at the throat.
So. A larger dish won't hurt if it's an offset dish. There are online gain calculators to plug in different dish diameters.
If the larger dish maintains the same or very close beam angle at the lnb focal point, you should be golden.
Things to consider though is if the dish will allow easy mounting of your lnbf. A bracket may be needed.
With that comes you needing to move your lnbf in closer or further away from the dish to attain that focus needed to peak your signal.
Other than that. I always use my receiver and an app that lets me see signal on the receiver from inside of the house.
Can't comment on your signal finder box. But it seems that if the settings on it match what your receiver displays in setup. It should work. Although I do hear that some do have issues with them playing nice.

From the dungeon:

Hello Dungeon,
Appreciate your reply.

What app do you use to allow you to see the signal on the receiver? I've been moving my TV and receiver out to the yard. Your way sounds easier.

In an attempt to measure the focal point (at least make my best estimate) I took some measurements. To my surprise, I actually have a 90 cm dish. I originally purchased the dish in 2006 from Star Choice through a 3rd party dealer (located in Northern Ontario). My LNBF is Model Shaw75E-G1(T000409) (Not the original > replaced a couple of times since 2006) . Also, on the back of the dish is stamped 75E. Thus my assumption that the dish was a 75 cm dish. Apparently, at that time, Star Choice was providing 90 cm dishes for those living in remote areas of Canada, or those living south of the border.

So, even with a 90 cm dish, I'm right on the edge of getting a signal, or not. It doesn't take much rain, like we have as I write this, for my picture to start to fade. So now will look to upgrade to a larger dish, probably 120 cm. Should be able to use my existing LNBF as long as the correct focal point is established.

I kind of have the same issue but only on my iPhone or iPad. The "keep me logged in" checkbox is checked but after I login in works fine for that day but the next day I am always logged out but only on my iPad or iPhone. I have deleted cookies and ALL website data multiple times but it still happens over night every night unless I use a different browser. It only happens using Safari on the iPhone and iPad but not on my iMac. I have given up on it and just log back in everyday. I have checked settings but nothing has helped. And it didn't just start recently. It has been happening for quite a while. And it only happens here, DBSTalk and Facebook. All other websites keep me logged in even in Safari on iPad and iPhone.

If you Google your problem, there are several things you might try. Advanced Tracking Protection seems suspicious, as does a mention of collective browsing experience-sharing among iDevices connected through iCloud+.

On our side there have been no changes to the server or forum software.

The forum software is what sets and sends you the cookie and the cookie is where your login is stored.

Another suggestion would be try a different browser for a few days as that would get and use its own cookie.

I hate these cookie problems as there is nothing I can really do to help to fix it since the issue is in your local side.

EchoStar has filed with FCC for license and launch of the EchoStar 25 satellite at the nominal 110W slot.

------"At the nominal 110° W.L. orbital location, EchoStar is licensed to operate over 29 of the available 32 DBS channels (specifically channels 1-27, 29,and 31).3 Currently, EchoStar provides service over these channels from the 110° W.L. cluster utilizing the EchoStar 10, EchoStar 11 (in inclined orbit), and EchoStar 23 satellites; and from the 119° W.L. cluster utilizing the EchoStar 14 and EchoStar 15 satellites. EchoStar anticipates that EchoStar 25 will be ready for launch as early as the first quarter of 2026. EchoStar anticipates that EchoStar 25, a spot-beam satellite, will take over delivery of certain programming services from EchoStar 10 and 14. After launch and in-orbit testing ("IOT"),4EchoStar 25 will proceed directly to 110.0° ± 0.05° W.L. Once EchoStar 25 is placed into operation, EchoStar 10 will initially remain at 110.2° W.L. serving as an in-orbit spare and may ultimately be relocated subject to all appropriate Commission authorizations. EchoStar 14 will remain at the nominal 119° W.L. orbital location and serve as an in-orbit spare once EchoStar 25 begins service." -----

Ninety-three (93) spot beams
51 active transmitters
212 DMAs can be served simultaneously
Possible launch - 1st quarter 2026

Google Earth photo illustrates EIRP 50dBW coverage for each spot (50 probably covers reception with a standard diameter dish.)>
Half of the spot beams with transponder links are included in the Schedule S pdf and the other half will have similar transponder linkages.

For those that like these things, This link has the downloads for the 93 Google Earth beams.

This is really interesting. Thanks for posting the Chicago locals - I still can't add them to my account for some reason.

But what I find even more interesting is that you are reporting that some of the Chicago locals are on 110, TP 12. However, right now some of the national sports channels for the out of market sports channels are on 110, TP 12 as well. MLB Network Alternate, for example, is currently on 110, TP 12. And to my knowledge, the same transponder cannot be both a national ConUS transponder as well as a local spotbeam. I wonder if having both satellites active at the same time is causing some coding issue or something like that - for my receiver, it is as if it is checking one satellite, times out, then checks the second satellite for the signal strength.

No Problem! Glad I went and could help out but however I chickened out from the game tonight and I am back home. Didn't like the weather report I was seeing. Everyone in the hotel was talking about the severe storms. 75+ mph winds, golf ball size hail, and tornadoes done it in for me. You stay safe! I guess it isn't going to be very good and its suppose to hit between 3 and 6 PM. I gave away my tickets as I don't need damage to the vehicle plus with the weather like that not going and driving in Chicago that often it probably wouldn't be good driving when it is storming. I do think I made the wise choice.

I however am thinking about going somewhere over the weekend because this hot and humid air that were having will bring in relief after the cold front Thursday night and good weather is expected through the weekend. I don't know where I will head I am thinking State Park wise somewhere camping in a tent and brining my AC battery supply backup that works 36 hours on a single charge and can be charged in the vehicle and bringing the Wally, the antenna, and my Cloner Alliance ViewPro to use as a screen. Just to see what I can all get and to get away awhile. Where ever I go It will be out of market so I could get you their locals and Satellites and Spotbeams if you would like.

Just hoping we avoid the severe weather at my location tomorrow. It doesn't look good on that part but once it goes through excellent and more pleasant weather ahead.

And on what you said. Yes that could be an issue getting the locals activated that you are having problems with. 2 Transponders causing trouble one national and one spotbeam. Your receiver may not know how to handle it. Seems as if they likely will move those other sports channels to another satellite and/or spotbeam. More than likely the issue with my MLB Extra Innings as well. All these changes coming at once and they are trying to figure where to put everything and probably don't know where to put it all. I am sure it has the tech advanced people at DISH working overtime. Just wish they would hurry up and get it done.

Do you have an estimated date of completion by any chance?

nelson61 - is there a way to see which of the Spotbeams are availabe to Chicago? When I scan using my receiver, here in Chicago I am getting signal strength of greater than 40 on 9 different Spotbeams on 110, and 4 of the spotbeams are over 64. That is a lot more than what I remember seeing in the past.

I would have to open each of the 90+ kml file using Google earth to see which ones cover the general area and then dig through the filing to identify the associated transmitter.

The number you are seeing seems reasonable.

Got it - I saw your post had the screenshot from Google Earth with all the spotbeams on a single picture. I didn't know if there was a file where all of them were already loaded, and then I could open Google Earth and click on each one to hide/show where everything was preloaded.

Ok, I'm bored .... actually - to be more precise - I'm bored of eating the same rotation of 9 or 10 meals that are currently my "go-to" meals. My wife works the long hours - I work from home as and when i feel like it ... which means i generally do most of the cooking ... and so by default - i also make out the shopping list ...

We cook at home 5 or even 6 nights a week - but we always seem to fall back on the same old tried and tested "quick and easy but tastes ok" meals. Week in week out.

Pot Roast - mash and Peas.
Spaghetti
Chicken Pasta in cheese sauce.
Curry & rice
(these are some of mine)

Now it's not that I'm not adventurous in the kitchen ... I'll try anything once or twice ... but we all do it. Unless your name is Martha Stewart or Rachel Ray .. we all eventually fall back on our 8-10 favorite "meals"

So i thought - if we shared some of our own go-to meals with each other ... we might be able to add a few "new" ones to our own arsenal of meals.

So again - I ask you ...

What's for dinner tonight ?

Please give me something new to add to my rotation ... its our weekly shop tomorrow - so i want to pull together a few idea's and try and eat a meal each day next week that I've never had before .. or at least something that is not on my current "go-to" meal plan.

What meal do you always seem to fall back on in your house ? Maybe its something that I've never tried or not had in a while. I need inspiration !! I've got a blank shopping list in front of me - and nothing sounds good .. HELP !

Thanks to Fitch Ratings ( who gives the ratings on Credit and debt, as approved by the SEC, so they have accurate numbers) we have the totals.

DIRECTV's video subscriber base is the third-largest traditional multi-channel video programming distributor (MVPD) in the U.S. with about 8.2 million subscribers at the end of 1Q26.

The last time it was reported, it was 8.8M at the end of 2Q25, so only a 600,000 loss for 3 quarters, which is a major improvement, since for many years before that, it was losing 500,000 a quarter, 2 Million a year.

It is now losing less than Dish/Sling combined, I believe the Genre Packs are helping to retain and get subscribers.

I got a big discount for returning.
When I( talked with them a few weeks ago, they called me.
They offered me the Choice package (I had the Ultimate) (I also wasn't in from of my computer , so I couldn't check things out)
I figured if they could beat $80, I'd listen ... her best offer was $120, PASS...

The package I HAD with Sat was costing me $140 ... again HARD PASS.

Personally, IF I ever went back with Sat, I would definitely take the HR54 ... but each set up is different from house to house, what works for you ... in reality, I would probably go streaming instead, as my needs have changed, I no longer need a portable recvr to use while camping.

I doubt NESN is doing great with the Sox in the tank.
