I dug this up is still correct setup ? As I have same issue with setup H3 A to Joey A and H3 B to Joey B Both joey seem to have issues with Video on Demand IF i rewind/fastword or pause to much BOTH said Joeys will freeze up to point i cant get out VOD and it will take 3+ minutes to get back live tv IF it even does that, I will go into status screen on those joeys and it will show no tuners. I can rewind/fast word pause how ever much i want on both H3 no issues. as we dont have power outlet by swtichs as there out side

Both Joey seem have issue just watch DVR too they tend to freeze up with black screen this been happen for last few months, require me to exit to live see DVR, this does not cause tuner lose though. dont know if VOD issue start at same time.

My setup or atlest how it is now, cause i not sure original was setup anymore. is DPH42 Feeding 2 of hybrid solo hub. H3A and Joey 4K A are on one and H3B and Joey 4K B are on the other , The power insterted brick is by H3A Cable feed goes into power inserter out goes to H3A

For as long as i can remeber My Joey has always has random stutters skips, that NOT in actual feed as H3 is fine and if I rewind to before the skip/jump there is no skip jump, Also been get alot scrambling threw most channels at random in random parts of screen. but that seem to happen on h3 too cause if i rewind said scramble are there.

I will go out side take picture of switchs out side

Am i supposed to have specific LNB/Dish for this step. for most this setup has been fine for past 2 years, minus those skips that seem to happen the joeys, the whole DVR issue start 2~3 months back and I not sure if VoD is always been there on JOEY end cause i rarely watched VOD

The system does allow two Hooper 3's. I've done plenty of installs on Dish Work Orders for Dual Hopper 3's. You just need to purchase the 2nd Hopper 3
I know it can as that is what i ready said in this thread ( post 15) dish policy is not to allow, like stated earlier one has buy box and get hold right person from dish loyatly so it can be done cause dish policy has to be overrides, as i know people that tried to get 2 h3 system and where told out right no, when told them they need to call loyalaty department get right person at that after few tries that got it done.

Have you done a Hopper+ with two H3s yet? Sorry if I missed reading that someplace.
From the call i got from Head of tech off from dish main branch, After setting up the 1 hopper plus with 2 h3 work order it anit gona work, "they" will try but when heard that I told them ok how bout 2 hopper plus they said system (techincial stand point) will not handle 2 hopper plus. He left his me is direct number to talk to him directly. and said dish will notify when hopper plus is upgrade to work with 2 h3 or i call back inquiring about after it been out for while.

current work order is probably gona wind up with them just replacing the 2 joeys 4k with 2 joey 4. and sorting out VOD issue both joey have with pause/rewind/fastword and hopefull fix the micro jumps both joey have in live tv ( of rewind 10sec the micro jump is not where it there). and what ever reason both joeys are randomly freezeing up during dvr play back. ( this start in last 2 or 3 month been happen with the last 2 builds pushed)

I dont have isolator on setup so both h3 communicate with each other, which i would like to keep that way, and always have, but since last tech came out turn down the dish and switch changed just to find out it was correct, the original internet setup where one h3 ( one closet to router) bridged it connection to other hopper and it joey. since he put back the briding to other h3 dont work and i was forced to connect both internet, i was told lack of isolated might be why the joeys have micro jump

If the hoppers are on separate Hubs, then yeah, they both need to be connected to the Internet and the recommendation is 2 separate networks

by hubs do you mean the hybrid solo hubs? Feed from dish goes to DPH42 2 lines come out that 1 to each of 2 hybrid solo hub and client line goes to joey that is linked too.

If so it intresting cause originally setup was 1 h3 had internet and it bridged it to other h3 and it joey. but like said that that stopped work after the last tech came out. cause said i had wrong setup. he change lnb and switch just to find he was wrong, put back the way it now. He did screw up line though he had H3 "A" and Joey "B" connected to one hybrid solo and H3 "B" and Joey "A" other hybrid solo. by time i noticed something was wrong he was long gone. no guide info, no recall info some time channels would just black out. next day I went out side to look and noticed the joeys where connect to wrong hubs.

For my own sanity I put blue tie downs on all cable connect to first hyrbid solo and and put whiteout on tie that was h3 and on 2nd hybrid solo i put black tie downs and put whiteout on tiedown that was it h3 as orginal labels on had cables have disintegrated, and you cant really see black marker that was used on cables nuts/screws anymore that was marked by original installer.

Yep, exactly. The workaround is to replace the 2 Solo Hubs with a Duo hub - not a Dish authorized install, BUT. maybe the Bridging created by only connecting a Primary Hopper 3 to the internet could potentially allow the Plus to work on both Hoppers or a Plus on each Hopper but I bet that will cause either Moco or some connectivity conflicts. I'll be interested to see someone try it both ways and how it works, if it works

Is the ideal way to set up a Dual Hopper 3 set up via the Duo Hub (even though not authorized by Dish) or 2 Solo Hubs? IF it the Duo Hub, are both Hopper 3's connected via seperate ethernet cables or just one of them is connected? Or is the 2 Solo Hubs the route to go? Thanks!

My setup consists of a Duo Hub, with the primary H3 connected to Ethernet. All of the Joeys as well as the secondary H3 obtain IP's/Internet through the primary H3. Bridging on the primary H3 needs to be enabled so that the MoCA and Ethernet ports bridge, while the secondary H3 should have bridging disabled as well as no connection to the internet whatsoever to not cause a network loopback issue.

The alternative (or "authorized") way to do this is having two Solo Hub's, and the rest depending on if you want cross-communication between the two H3's. If you want both setups to be independent of each other, then they each need either their own internet connection or own subnet on the same ISP if you know enough about networking to do so. Another option is to have one H3 with internet and the other without.

Now, if you do want the proper installation with Solo's but communication between the two DVR's then they both need to be on the same network, either via Ethernet or WiFi, and they should communicate. But at that point you are better off with a Duo Hub so the communication happens over the MoCA network instead of your own, causing unnecessary congestion.

When a DISH tech installed my two Hopper 3s he said that the two Solo Hubs had to be connected by a coax cable for them to be able to see each other. Is that not true ethanlerma? I knew that a Duo Hub both Hoppers will see each other. So when tech left I removed the two Solos and installed my purchased Duo Hub.

Do you mean the Solo Hub's were connected on their client ports with a coax cable? That would work since both MoCA networks can communicate, but at that point you are accomplishing the same thing a Duo Hub does with extra points of failure.

Strange behavoir After ever thing was replaced, DPh42 (replaced), it was also grounded cause it was not. the 2 hybrid solo hubs(replaced) LNB (replaced) cause it had condensation in it and both joey 4k (replaced) Both hopper refused to see each other DVR and both jeoy 4k refuse to see both h3 in whole home tab as it usual took few hours for that to be seen. Moment I actual connected 2nd hopper 3 to internet the next day it all started seeing each or maybe i just never noticed they need to be connect to internet? but that all communicated via moca.

After all was done with tech visit I think only thing that been fixed is the scrambling. pretty sure at this point the DVR freeze up while skiping commericals is software related as this was NEVER an issue in all this time. but for last 2 software build it has been. it also randomly happen on live tv buffer if one rewind back then start skip stuff like commercials. again only on the joeys 4k and the been replaced, if it was hopper 3 issue it would do on the 2 hopper 3 too which it dont VoD playback issue on joey not sure if actual fixed either but at this point i dont care.

The micro jump/skip in live tv ONLY on joeys is still there and rewinding 10secs results in playback being fine.

I gona shelve all this unless thing get way worse, i dont wish to call dish about nothing no one you talk to know what they talking about and reading script off screen and you diffrent info every time you call

The tech that came out been tech for dish for 10 years directly not sub contractor, and he been begging for tech note that only tech can see in all this time, said any notes give to him are note the notes we customer give dish. less they get email from manager or something.

Grounded or not means nothing. In fact, I've seen more issues from grounded systems due to improper grounding and electrical problems in the home. ALso, condensation inside the LNB is normal, just like anything condensates. Actual water leakage is another thing, though.

Season 2 order already in hand:

'Star Trek: Starfleet Academy' Renewed for Season 2, Tatiana Maslany to Guest Star in Season 1

I've not been optimistic about this show based on what I've read so far. Seems to be aimed at a younger audience. Interesting though that Tatiana Maslany will have some sort of role.

Yeah, the foot stuff was just nasty. I kept thinking of how dirty her feet would get traipsing around shoe-less. Funny, I love being shoe less at home and never wear shoes indoors in my home for long, but seeing her laying on all her furniture with her bare feet hanging out just kind of grossed me out.

There would still be dirt ,dust in the future I am sure. So walking around the station like she did she would get stuff on her feet. I am sure the robot vacuum is still going to miss stuff, with all those different alien species running around there.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

Love this guy's channel. Looks like Walmart has thrown in the towel when it comes to conventional car batteries.

I bought a new AGM battery from Walmart about a year ago, it is already needing replacing. I thought about just buying a regular battery but from what I've read, that might not be a smart move. Might check my Forscan program and see if I can change the battery type from AGM.

When you need a battery, you need a battery.

If you can wait, new technologies are on the not-too-distant horizon.

You're probably doing something wrong if you're only getting a year out of an AGM battery. Heat and infrequent charging both significantly reduce lifetime.

Huh? How can I be doing something wrong.....I took out the original battery, that was 6 yrs old and put in a new one.....kinda hard to screw that up. I figure it was just a bad battery....it happens.

The biggest takeaway I got from this video was the Walmart batteries only had something like 85% of battery life left even though they were brand NEW. The ones from O'Reilly all tested 100% of life left.

He sounds like he's trying to sell me a pocket hose.

I just had to replace a car battery this week and thought I'd look into LiFePo4. Amazon has plenty of them, but all have top posts and only one 'also' has side connections (Group 75).Then I read that they're really lousy in the cold. So, an AGM, but again, almost nothing with side terminals instead of top. In researching that, I read that most mfrs in recent years have dropped side terminals and gone back to the old top posts, which is surprising to me since those are more corrosion-prone, cause the battery to need more space and are generally more hazardous. Finally I just threw up my hands and bought a regular lead-acid at Sam's Club. They had a Group 75 "Duracell" with side terminals only. It was virtually the only such battery with side posts on their shelves

Had a Die Hard in my folks cellar for over 6 years. Pulled it out, slapped it on a charger for a day. Put it in my 'Cuda and drove it around for a week of my vacation. Next year, the same. But my dad kept it topped off for me.It was a mid 80's battery in early 1990.

Flooded acid batteries like a float voltage of around 13.5-13.8 voltage.
AGM needs a float of 14.2 volts. So if you slap an AGM in where a flooded was. It never gets a full charge.
"Why do they die so fast?" Question answered. There are folks who sell voltage regulators for alternators that are designed to boost float voltage for AGM batteries.
The other way around? Flooded will gas-off a little at 14.2 volts. But seems to tolerate it pretty good.

Lithium car/bike/atv batteries. After 3 batteries in my Harley. The OEM flooded and two AGM's (before the 14.2 volt float requirement to let them live was learned). I bought a lithium for it. 4 year, no gripe warranty after having it tested by an approved store.
The thing started like Thor himself sent a bolt from the sky. Except......try to start it around freezing? Nope. Needed a heating pad.
And I usually like to park it around events in the evening with the parking light on. Looks cool like that.
We could traipse around for a few hours no worries. Hop on, fire it up, and go putt around.
Lithium? A Dakota Lithium at least. The BMS shuts it right down if it discharges below <something>.
Come back. Parking lights off. Won't start. And you know the rest. But it lasted 6 years. A lot better than 'new every two'. And the fact that powersports batteries are warranted for six, maybe nine months. Ludicrous.

I called Noco. Asked all of the right questions. Great warranty. Save some bucks ordering directly, faster service that the wally world alternative.
They addressed (or claimed over the phone) that the shut down was addressed. Sure. The BMS keeps it form being damaged. But if it is shut down because it does become low. Shut down any load (key on, parking or headlights left on) for 10-15 minutes and you get a second try to start your rig. Not a bad thing if it really works. Right?!

Exide, Interstate? Be very afraid. They ain't what they used to be. In Florida my '70 Cutlass had an Interstate (early 90') that lasted 6 years until it dropped its plates at an intersection and boiled over. In Florida, mind you. The last Interstate.....done in 2. Guys down there would suck out the acid and put water in shortly before the warranty ran out. Make it to the auto parts, get them tested. And get a new one pro rated. No more pro rating.
You can't beat an Odyssey. Napa, AC Deco (the better ones). Yup.
The mom and pop Car Quest only sells Die Hard. For a reason, the old man says. So they convinced that a Die HArd Platinum was the hot ticket for me. l will see. Stand by!

You can't cut Mr. Project Farm down. He does great tests of all sorts of things. Not sponsored and pressured to slap a little sugar on his comparisons and reviews. Compared to the Brits and Aussies with their constant overzealous and same sounding (Dave from EEVblog) rant. I like P-Farm a lot. Of course I like AvE (Boltr) too.
Reminds me to beware when wearing shorts around the garage vice.

The number-one US state for EV growth, according to the June 22 Yardi report?
Oklahoma.

:eek

It has no ZEV mandates and "minimal" incentives, Yardi says, but also has cheap electricity, high multi-car household rates (so, for example, a non-Lightning Ford F-150 pulls their trailers), and a consumer base willing to switch.

Never realized that Tesla is losing to BYD at manufacturing too, which IMO is Tesla's biggest accomplishment and area of innovation. Nice writeup about the state of play and how we got here though. I have no faith that we're moving any productive direction though sadly, most changes and efforts feel reactionary rather than rooted in making use of the time being bought by tariffs, with few exceptions.

So: how are the cars so cheap, and what is being cut to get there? The best public accounting comes from the Rhodium Group, which compared BYD, Geely, and Leapmotor against Tesla's Chinese operation, a fair comparison because it removes labor costs and shipping from the equation entirely. Their estimate is that BYD builds a car for about $4,700 less than Tesla builds a Model 3 in Shanghai, roughly 15 percent of the Model 3's price. The breakdown is the interesting part. Direct government grants account for about $292 per vehicle, which is 5 percent of the gap. The biggest single factor is vertical integration: BYD makes about 80 percent of its top-tier components in-house, against 37 percent for Tesla, and that eliminates roughly $2,369 per vehicle in supplier markups. Lower overhead, meaning cheaper engineering talent and administrative cost spread across enormous volume, accounts for another $1,719. And BYD pays its suppliers on 155-day terms, against Tesla's 60, which is worth about $214 per car in float. When people say the Chinese advantage is subsidies, the per-vehicle number says otherwise. When people say it is slave wages, the Tesla Shanghai comparison says otherwise too. The advantage is mostly that BYD decided, twenty years ago, to make its own batteries, its own motors, its own power electronics, and its own semiconductors, and Western automakers decided the opposite.

If it weren't for the sky-high electricity prices...

Of course, the real scare with Winter coming is the insane cost of heating oil.

GM said its next-generation vehicle architecture will provide 40 times more computing power and 30 percent less wiring than before and will expand from the 2028 Cadillac Escalade IQ to its high-volume SUVs, trucks, crossovers, and fourth-generation EVs, which will be powered by lithium manganese-rich (LMR) prismatic batteries

Despite the politicization and perceived consumer pivot away from EVs in America, GM needs to remain globally competitive, so it's doubling down on its fourth generation EVs, with energy-dense, cheaper-to-manufacture LMR batteries, more efficient motors, and state-of-the-art centralized computing architecture. With a stated goal of cutting the traditional four- to five-year concept-to-production time in half, GM is clearly challenging the concept of "China speed," which in the Chinese automotive industry can be as quick as 18 months from design to start of production. In the AI space, GM is smartly collapsing all of its marque-specific apps under the familiar OnStar brand, while providing more features—both on the phone and in the car—than it ever has before.

Let's tell it like it is. GM's EV efforts are coming from SAIC. The brain trust is almost entirely in China, and GM is hanging off of SAIC's shirt tails.

It is a lot like asserting that the Corvette was designed by Chevrolet when most of it came from the Cadillac CTS-V.

That's how Ford did it- vertical integration. He even set up a rubber plantation in S. America

Heard a story from one of the Apple influencers on YT that the 18PM has a bug where it stops connecting to AT&T service. Doesn't affect Verizon or T-Mobile. Apple is replacing the phones. Anyone else hear of this? Defective Modem?

Defective Modem?
It seems the phone gets locked into Sat mode. A software patch is coming to avoid that pitfall, but it comes too late for those who already fell in.

If you ponied up for an iPhone Duo, keep it away from anything other than your soft, fleshy fingertips. No fingernails, no dust, sand, dirt, or other particulate matter. And don't bend it more than it needs to. Zack has destroyed $2,000 of Apple hardware to get those views, which should cover his expenses.
