I purchased a Eastern Arc DPH LNB to replace the DPP Plus LNB. Before I install the new LNB I need some technical guidance on what I need extra or what I can eliminate or shouldn't do. Presently I have two dishes EA and WA wired into a DPP44 switch using satellites 61.5, 72, 110, and 119 going into a VIP222K utilizing the two receivers from the DPP44 outputs. I'm willing to disconnect the WA LNB and stay with the EA LNB, but I want to use the new DPH LNB. Please help. I also considered purchasing a WA DPH LNB to use with the EA setup. Hope I explained my situation OK.

I believe you can use a DPH LNB for your 222K. Note that the old EA dish was a 1000.4, and the DPH LNB for EA was designed for a 1000.2. I would not try pointing the DPH LNB for WA on the EA instead.

What two receivers? The two tuners? A DPH LNB and also the DPP LNB and also the DPP44 can feed two tuners with one coax. You need a separator to do that, though.

Sorry, meant two tuners. So, the DPH LNB port 1 can go to the DPP44 Sat input and use the two outputs on DPP44 go to the two tuners on the VIP222K? What about the separator?? Eventually want to keep the 4 satellites active using DPH LNB's on WA and EA dishes.

Starting a little bit of a ramble to answer some questions here.

Going to start with wondering what the OP wants to achieve here. His current setup, with mixed arc DPP LNB's and a DPP44 should be more then enough to feed even 4 222k's at the same time if he really wanted to, going DPH does allow single cable runs to each receiver from each Port with the use of a separator but so does DPP LNBF's. Unless the OP were going to a Hopper system (or a fleet of Wally's) changing the LNB's here does not make sense.

So, the DPH LNB port 1 can go to the DPP44 Sat input and use the two outputs on DPP44 go to the two tuners on the VIP222K? What about the separator?? Eventually want to keep the 4 satellites active using DPH LNB's on WA and EA dishes.
Before getting in deeper Ill add some context first. DPP and DPH LNB's have internal switches already. These switches allow connected receivers to use the same coax run for multiple satellites and tuners at the same time, two tuners per run in the case of DPP, and 16 tuners in the case of DPH. While a DPH LNB can feed a DPP44, it will not present all of the satellites with one cable alone because when connected to a switch both DPH/DPP LNB's disable their internal switch, effectively making them a DP single feed (In other words one satellite per wire). Each port on the LNB's feeds a different satellite, the order for port 1/2/3 on EA is 77(Rip, also not present on current EA LNBF's)/72/61.5 and WA it is 119/110/129. The WA DPH lacks a third output as well, making it only capable of feeding the first two (119/110) meaning that while it can work, it is not ideal compared to a WA DPP that has all three necessary outputs.

Once the DPP44 receives a valid DP signal (coming from either a DP Singl/Dble or DPP/DPH in DP mode) from each satellite you would like in your setup, it will create a DPP signal on each of its outputs containing said set of satellites. Each DPP feed is capable of serving two tuners with the use of a separator. No need for extra wires from the switch to the receiver, just one from switch to separator and then two cables from separator to each satellite input on the receiver, which should be how you have it wired now. To summarize, using DPH LNB's here will leave you with exactly what you had before, except with the added inability to get satellite 129, which seems to be a non-issue to you.

On a EA DPH LNB, what is Port 2 used for?
Port 2 does different things depending on what is plugged into port 1. Ill make a little table for your convenience:

Device on DPH Port #1.......will make DPH Port #2 output:
NothingA DPX/DPP/DP signal.
DPX/DPP/DP receiver (722/222/211/Hopper1-2 etc.)A DPX/DPP/DP signal.
DPH receiver (Hopper3/Duo/Wally)Disabled.
DPP/DPH switch (will always be 119 on WA or 72 on EA)DP signal (will always be 110 for WA and 61.5 for EA)

I'm also thinking of trying to using the input port of the EA DPH for the WA DPH LNB port 1 output.
Very. Bad. Idea.
You do not want to cascade multiple switches (in this case the internal switches on the LNB's) without the use if a power inserter, as the input port on the LNB's are only designed to feed a single DP horn (be it a Single or Double output). The excess power draw will eventually damage the LNB, or even worse, the receiver in the long run. For experimenting? Sure, but not on something you want in the long run. Also no real point to it, something I will get to latter.

Thanks 'HIPKAT'. Things are starting to get more clearer. Can you answer my post from earlier: Would it be possible to take Port 1 of a (WA) DPH and connect it to the input Port of a (EA) DPH and then take Port 1 and run it into a separator for my VIP222K two tuner inputs? That way I can utilize 4 satellites. I just want to use newer technology outside equipment, that's why DPH's.
I think that would work, actually, giving you all 5 sats, but I don't know for sure. I'd like to try it and see what happens sometime. Your better bet would be not using the DPH, which I assume you want for the input, but running a cable from an EA DPP to the input on the WA DPP
Nope, not happening. As previously mentioned, the DPP/DPH LNB's will run in DP mode while connected to another switch. The end result here would be, for example, a WA LNB able to get either 72 OR 61.5 on its input from the EA LNB, never both, not to mention my previous warning with running cascaded switches. The only semi-feasible way to get 5 satellites at a time is cascading a DP21 off of a DPP44. Hence where I got this nice picture:

IMG_1934.JPEG

Never got around to actually attempting to get satellites in because I only have one tripod available, might try it one day with the roof mounted dish though.

I never have either and was curious about the switches interacting. Was an idea though!

My EA and WA setup. As you can see trees in the window reflection
I deal with in the summer in satellite 119. I don't use 129. These dishes go to a DPP44 switch.

Haven't purchased WA Slimline DPH LNB just yet. Installed the EA DPH the other day into a separator feeding the two inputs on the VIP222K. Been looking at a WA Slimline DPH and noticed some have a red 'Dish' logo and others have a black 'Dish' logo on the back of the DPH. Anyone know what the difference is? One newer than the other?

Season 2 order already in hand:

'Star Trek: Starfleet Academy' Renewed for Season 2, Tatiana Maslany to Guest Star in Season 1

I've not been optimistic about this show based on what I've read so far. Seems to be aimed at a younger audience. Interesting though that Tatiana Maslany will have some sort of role.

Here i am over a year later and just finished season 1. Not great but not as bad as I was expecting. Did not care for the barefoot captain stuff but overall ok. Actually looking forward to see what they did for season 2.

Yeah, the foot stuff was just nasty. I kept thinking of how dirty her feet would get traipsing around shoe-less. Funny, I love being shoe less at home and never wear shoes indoors in my home for long, but seeing her laying on all her furniture with her bare feet hanging out just kind of grossed me out.

There would still be dirt ,dust in the future I am sure. So walking around the station like she did she would get stuff on her feet. I am sure the robot vacuum is still going to miss stuff, with all those different alien species running around there.

I don't know, but I still don't like her walking through the station or the academy with out her shoes. It looks unprofessional and very "hippy like" for someone of her status and I personally don't get off to feet, so there is that. ;)

Just finished S2. Watching Gary Oldman as deshvilved, dejected MI-6 agent, Jackson Lamb, is one of the best things streaming right now. Already 2 more seasons in the works. HIGHLY recommended. And yes, Mick Jagger sings the theme.

Well, the season finale went balls to the wall. Non stop action and several twisted twists. Gary Oldman at his best. Very well written and executed. Tavener owes Jackson big time. Only "if" was Jack Lowden's (River) cliffhanger, especially admin-st the buzz that he is the next James Bond in waiting.

Another great season.

Sorry to see Flyte go. I also liked the Coe character. Sooner or later someone is going to take Taverner out. I think I will enjoy that.

I read that Lowden (River) was photographed during production of Season 8. Hopefully he will be back for 7 as well.

Hear, hear! Flyte was probably the most competent character in the show. We were also sad to see Coe come up short against the Russian operative.

Still some uncertainty about the last five minutes. The line from Lamb about "faking one's death" gives us something to think about until the next season.

Now right up front....this is NOT intended to devolve into a "pot is good" vs "pot is bad" thread. The whole point is to make you aware of a potential problem that a person can develop when they start smoking pot at a young age. Not that they WILL, but CAN. Kinda like getting lung cancer from smoking cigs....some do, some don't. The purpose of posting this news story is to keep anyone from paying an outrageous emergency room bill......knowledge is power.
While this may not affect you, you might run into someone who is experiencing these symptoms and can share the info. Fortunately, it looks like stopping smoking is the cure and isn't a permanent condition.

Didn't see a thread like this so I figured why not start one. This is about natural supplements. If you aren't into supplements, fine, but please let those of us who do want to discuss this discuss it.

The first one I wanted to mention has been a real life changer. I'm 62 and still do all of my own install work at my business....also do all the yard work at the house. A few years ago I started noticing that I was losing my range of movement, it was even getting hard to bend over and lace up my boots. Almost got stuck in an attic because I couldn't get turned around once the work was done. Didn't think much of it and figured with age comes stiffness that was only going to get worse as time went on.
It was then that I stumbled across a video which was discussing rotator cuff tears and why they were to prevalent these days. Turns out, the culprit is a simple deficiency in MANGANESE which is key in keeping your tendons flexible. Most anti-biotics strip your body of any manganese it might have had which is why certain anti-biotics, especially those in the Cipro family. I actually knew a man who had two tendons tear while on that stuff.
Went to Amazon and ordered some manganese. Now it took a while, it wasn't instant, but gradually I have regained all of my flexibility. I can bend over and touch my toes while standing with no pain and putting on my boots is no longer a chore.
Pretty cheap too. The bottle I ordered was a 200 ct for under $13. They said to take double the normal dose for the first month because most people are severely lacking, then go to one a day.

Chia Seeds
Kinda the whole idea is to mention something and explain WHY it is something we might want to add to our daily routine.
This is what I got from google. Looks like I'm going to be adding them, thanks

Key Health Benefits
    • Digestive Health: One ounce (28 grams) of chia seeds provides nearly 10 grams of fiber, which promotes regular bowel movements, feeds beneficial gut bacteria, and helps prevent constipation. [1, 2]
    • Heart and Cardiovascular Support: Rich in alpha-linolenic acid (ALA)—an essential plant-based omega-3 fatty acid—chia seeds can help lower blood pressure, reduce triglycerides, and improve cholesterol profiles. [1, 2, 3]
    • Blood Sugar Regulation: The combination of soluble fiber and protein slows down carbohydrate digestion, preventing sharp blood sugar spikes after meals. [1, 2]
    • Weight Management: When soaked in liquid, chia seeds absorb up to 10 to 12 times their weight in water. The resulting gel expands in the stomach, increasing feelings of fullness and curbing appetite. [1, 2, 3]
    • Bone Strength: They contain high levels of calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus, which are vital for maintaining bone density. [1, 2, 3]
    • Antioxidant Protection: Compounds like chlorogenic acid and caffeic acid help fight cellular damage from free radicals and reduce chronic inflammation. [1, 2, 3]

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....
