Gentlemen,
I'm a newbie to this new fangled FTV Satellite hobby and in dire need of help. Back in the day (1980-1985) I, by myself installed and maintained a 10' mesh, prime focus, dish with both C and Ku LNBs. Everything worked great, so I have some experience.
Fast forward to today…
A couple of weeks ago I purchased all the pieces I thought I would need to install a 1 meter dish for the Ku band. I purchased them individually from eBay:
39 Inch Azure/Shine Satellite Dish with Tripod Mount International 36 33 (I don't know)
Moteck SG-2100 Satellite Dish Motor
GEOSATpro QUAD Output LNB SL4 PLL Phase Lock Loop 10750 Linear Ku
Amiko Mini 4k UHD S2X H.265 HEVC FTA Receiver STB 2X
GTmedia V8 Satellite Finder 2 Meter DVB-S2/S2X
I have the pole planted and checked several times for plumb. I have the dish, LNBF, and motor mounted. I have not connected the Amiko receiver as I don't have the satellite arc dialed in. I have been trying to decipher the GTmedia V8 Finder 2 meter functions. But there is no informative manual for that device. The "User Manual" only defines the displays and keys but says nothing about the functions or how to use them. I've watched several videos on the GTmedia meter. All the videos show how to take the device out of the box and describe it's marvelous features. None tell you how to use the device or any of the actual functions of the displays and keys. I've watched videos of people using the meter but they only show bits and pieces of what they are setting up or looking at.
Does anyone know of a video, pdf, or document that tells how to use the GTmedia meter?
This "introduction" is a lot longer than I intended so I am going to post it now and I will post my questions, and I have several, on individual posts.

Just to continue my gripes...
When I decided I needed a new challenge in life I purchased all the parts I thought I needed for this FTA Ku satellite viewing. In that lot I purchased the "GTMedia V8 Finder 2" meter device. So I'm trying to use it to find the satellite arc, etc., Well, I've read the so called "User guide". In it is shown pictures of the device with pointers to each of it's buttons. Such as the "Recalibrate" button. It says this is the Recalibrate button. Recalibrate what? There's no explanation of what the recalibrate button does or for any other buttons, and functions.
So I've been experimenting trying to discover what the different functions are.
As for your digital inclinmeter; where do you place it to see the dish elevations, center of dish?

No.
With USALS, ANY satellite can be the reference satellite.
USALS takes care of the necessary motor rotation from apex/zero angle. When you then outline 'azimuth' at that reference satellite, the whole arc azimuth is OK, including due south. That's the beauty with USALS.
In practice, I would suggest a reference satellite somewhere not too far from south, though, to not have the dish 'hanging' to the side a lot, while setting up.
I don't know Robbie Strike, so I don't have an opinion.
I guess you're doing very fine, starting with a motorized setup as you do! It's not the easiest start...

On Tuesday, I recorded the first episodes of the new season's NCIS shows on CBS (Dish provided, not OTA). The new New York series and Origins will both do Auto Skip, but the original, now season 24 does not. What's stranger, when I do a search for NCIS, Origins and New York show the current recording and the next episode it will record, but the original show only shows the current recording and some other channel showing the very first episode of season one. It makes no sense. When I set up the timers, I was able to use search for Origins and New York, but for the original, I had to scroll ahead in the guide until last Tuesday when the show was airing. Then set the timer from there. You can see its timer type is DVR where the other two are Seek. What am I missing?

To each there own but I've found that Windows can't do much more than Linux can. Can't have everything.
For niche use cases, yes I agree. Kali for ethical hacking and security testing, and running a Cacti server for network monitoring are the two things I have experience in. Plus thousands and thousands of other things, but for every day use I just can't see it. The owner of the GMRS repeater that I pay to access is changing the Tx DPL tones tomorrow, while Chirp is available on Linux, the software to program my MXT500 is not.To each there own but I've found that Windows can't do much more than Linux can. Can't have everything.
I run Fedora and Ubuntu in VMWare, honestly I don't care much for the UI of either of them and I don't feel like spending days/weeks to customize the UI to make it look Windows-like when I could just use Windows. The cartoonish dock at the bottom of the screen reminds me of Apple products.
As I said above, and, FWIW, I run Win11 Pro and Arch on separate 250 GB NVME drives, using F8 to select which I boot to, with a 1TB SSD for storage, accessible to both OSs and a third formatted Nvme I want to use to learn Kali. It was much faster to setup Arch than it was to strip down Windows. Windows still takes much longer to boot.

Wasn't exactly sure where to post this. Just had a customer come in inquiring about internet. He has HughesNet and had heard good things about mine. He asked if we provided email addresses and it kinda caught me off guard. I said he should be able to keep whatever email he had been using....my sister in law is still using a BellSouth email addy and they haven't been around here for many years. He said he had gotten a letter from HughesNet stating that they had until Nov 16th to save, move, forward, whatever, their Hughesnet emails because they would lose them after that date.
I have never heard of a company simply mass-deleting email accounts (the customer still has his HughesNet service). From what I understand, in the past, the company who was ditching their email service simply sold the customer base to a company like Google.
Anyone else getting this letter. He said he would show it to me tomorrow when I go out there and set up his internet.

Hmmm, I'm not seeing anything like those events in our Hopper 3 guide for tonight or Saturday.
I went into the Tools menu and requested a Guide Update. I'll try looking at it after the update completes.
edit — I now have the 148-01 4KFox events for Saturday, but not anything for 148-02 or 148-03 which don't even show as available channels. I do have 148-04 4KUSA.
