Moving HR54 server

Directv installed our main HR 54 on our second floor and we want to move it to the basement to use a 4K genie mini.

Can we simply swap the positions of the two wires on the outside splitter so the powered one goes to the basement? Is that safe since it's grounded?

They wanted at least $49 to come and do this. Thanks!

That depends on whether or not the HR54 is powering your antenna. If there's something that looks like this on the second floor (or perhaps elsewhere), you're good to go:

That depends on whether or not the HR54 is powering your antenna. If there's something that looks like this on the second floor (or perhaps elsewhere), you're good to go:

The HR54 has it's own power supply. But not everyone uses it. But if this was a recent install, there is no external Power inserter involved. If there is just a 2-way splitter, as long as you keep the HR54 on the red port (the one that passes power to the SWM LNB, there should be no problem swapping the HR54 and the C61K mini. If you get it backwards, there is no harm, you just won't get any signal, because the LNB on the dish won't get any power. On any DirecTV green label splitter, only port 1 (the red one) passes power to the incoming port on the other side. The rest are blocked for DC to keep multiple power sources from burning each other out.

All Genies >= HR44 have external power supplies. The HR54 and HS17 both feature built-in Power Inserters to power an SWM dish where the earlier receivers did not.

Yep, the 4k mini genie is going to the second floor. Believe the H54 is self powered, since there's no power supply like that.

We called for a Gemini but they offered the C61K instead!

Thanks all, we'll probably just swap the two on the outside splitter.

The C61K may be less inclined towards support issues at this time.

That said, DIRECTV is asking $49 for any Geminis over 4 so I'd imagine the C61K is a lot better value for them.

Since it was already "paid" for, I spent the two hours of my time watching the John Cena action movie on Apple TV, "Matchbox The Movie" even though the reviews were brutal. It was better than I expected, so I didn't feel like I had wasted an afternoon watching it. But it felt like another "Reacher"/"Neghley"/"Mission: Impossible"/"Fast & Furious" crash and blow stuff up with lots of automatic gunfire mixed in movie featuring covert CIA operatives.

I don't think we'll get a follow-up movie from this. I expect Mattel will have other toy lines to exploit.

PISTONS and THUNDER are finally testing on the stream server. PISTONS is showing the Ion/Scripps Sports promo loop filler that their NHL and WNBA feeds have, THUNDER has a "You are watching Thunder+" slate

The Clippers still haven't officially announced their TV plans beyond 10 simulcasts on KTLA, but the NBA's FAQ for ClipperVision is now live. The CLIPPERS feed is currently showing a loop of their Hawaii preseason game.

The Heat still haven't announced their West Palm Beach or Fort Myers affiliates. Since WPLG is streaming the games for free via their app, I doubt we'll be seeing the return of WPLG on stream.

So far nothing testing for the Bucks, Magic, Hawks or Hornets.

West Palm Beach is getting it on WTCN-CD/43 MNT. Still nothing for Fort Myers

Also, the Thunder's deal for KSBI/52 OKC and KQCW/19 Tulsa will be via a special cable and DIRECTV only feed of those stations. OTA viewers and Dish customers will be limited to 10 games.

It's only available for streaming customers, they still haven't added that batch of CW stations to satellite.

Even if it was, satellite customers still can't stream their CW affiliates via the app, just the Big 4, select PBS stations and some independents (mainly the ones that have full season NHL/NBA rights)

Yes the Cowboys owner needs to fire the general manager (himself), co-owner, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Executive Vice President, Director of Player Personnel, and President of AT&T Stadium (his son) and then he should jump off of a cliff. Only then can they recover.

Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson had an argument about who was responsible for the dynasty building of the early 90's Cowboys.

The rest of us figured it out in about 3 years, Jerry has had over 30 years but still can't admit it. It's all he lives for, to show everyone he can put together a winner. I don't think he can. His kids only know what he taught them.

On the West Coast, a 40-cent differential is common. It used to be 30 cents before the prices rose above $3.

A "full dollar more" sounds like it may be boat gas (non-alcoholic), which is a whole different discussion.

Both non-ethanol and prem run about the same....buck more. When we were up in TN it was a buck more up there as well.

In Oregon, our premium boat gas is about a dollar more than our corn premium. Several stations only offer the non-corn premium grade.
