I have not used my Edision Mio 4K+ in quite a while. I had boxed it up to take to a different location.

When I boot it up, I get the splash screen and then I get "no HDMI signal" on my TV.

I have checked the setup on the Edision's setup screen. Everything is in order.

I have also reflashed a different image using a usb stick (openvix-6.4.002.release-osmio4kplus) .

Still "No HDMI signal".

Is my STB toast?

All good reviews on Google Maps, 4.9 out of 5. When I priced the mini from the link above the shipping was almost 15 euros so I wonder if there is an error on this webpage. Euro to USD is almost equal. I'm tempted to order one. Too bad I didn't know about this when we did a Danube River Cruise about a year ago. It stopped in Bratislava.

Did you see the note down the page of the Mio+?

Yeah. The mio4k+ has two dvb tuners alrightey. But notice the specs? One is crippled. SF8008 has identical ones.
Too bad they never got bilndscan working worth a you-know-what on the Zgemma H7.x And lack of ACM/VCM for the radio channels.
But on a brighter side. If they hold up better than what people are currently reporting. With the next incantation fixing low sr issues.
The SF8008 Supreme looks tasty.

The "improvements" in the Edision receivers may be important in Europe but are not here. Why is 4K necessary when there are no 4K broadcasts? Lower SR rate capable? Not necessary for me. Even DVB-S2X seems unnecessary. I've never seen a viewable broadcast that required this. All I want from a dual-tuner receive is two capable sensitive tuners with blind scans that are fast and accurate.

Yes indeed. I ordered a SF8008 Supreme with dual DVB-S2X inputs to replace the Mio which stopped outputting HDMI. Looking forward to receiving it, but my order is currently stuck due to "Regional Weather Delays" (too much snow). Might have to wait until the snow melts, lol.

... Looking back, I think it was static electricity that killed the HDMI on my Mio. The reason being that it is cold and very dry here, and I had walked across the carpet from my chair to the AV area and plugged in the HDMI cable from the Mio into the TV. I don't remember a static shock, but it might have been too mild to notice.

However, the next day I walked the same route and got a big shock when I touched the metal case of a hard drive. It bricked the hard drive!

Anyway, static electricity has likely killed two devices here recently so I have got to start walking barefoot and/or get something for static discharge.

And did I mention that we need rain here in California?

Get a humidifier, and let it pump out the moisture in your room.

Performance of a product like receivers in this hobby. Or obsession. How ever you look at it. Is a thing. Depends on how deep you get into it.
Looking at Cybes reply. I think those improvements are actually more important here than there. Seriously.
Since Europeans live off of fixed transponders and if a blindscan can be done. Good enough.
Thing is. When a receiver and description, and specs. page is plastered with the capabilities of it. Goes for anything really.
You grab it because of the things it can do. Then later. People one-by-one report it isn't so. I ain't an impulse buyer. Yeah..."ain't".
It cheeses me that "A tuner". Or "ARM 7 1600 MHz Quad Core Processor". Doesn't really tell much.
In the pc, gaming world. That wouldn't fly. Intel, AMD, Nvidia folks would freak out. Right?

There WAS 4K FTA-ish channels. Then there were no more. But a few might pop up again. Who knows. 4k has become a defacto standard these days. As is DVB-S<stick your own extensions here> tuning capabilities. You would be pretty much screwed if you still use a satellite receiver with a DVB tuner and component video out. Or RGB. Or whatever.
You can live with static satellite lists. Or in a Linux receiver. Download an updated file from satellites-xml.org.
Or simply go for the cheapest possible way to get your feet wet in this "hobby" and grab a chinabox receiver or one of the "foreverbox" do-dads. Oh yeah. "Updatable firmware" grabs your eye. Yeah, for what? 2, 3 shots? Then goes staganant.
Low symbol rate capabilitiy is a thing. And Octagon lied about the SF8000 (newer) model boxes.
Edision stepped up and folks like El Bandido tweaked the Os Mio 4K series receivers TNAP image to bring out their magic.

When I spent a pile of cash on a ham receiver for my other hobby. A DC to Daylight receiver. Two models. One with cell frequencies blocked and another same model with wide open, no gap tuning. Why? Nothing at all but static on the blocked frequencies. At all.
Why would a fellow want that. A bible, a firearm. You might never need one. But gosh darn it. It sure is nice if you ever do. Which one did I grab? Pshhhhhhbzzzzzzzpshhhhh. Uh-huh.

Static. Death to electronics with atom thick chip construction. Transient suppressors that trip a few volts over working voltage were the best idea since the Commodore 64. Where just looking at one would pop the danged things. But they have their own limitations.
With everything today using SMPS wall warts, power bricks for TV's and such to power them. There is no chassis connection to mains neutral. Well, at least with 2 blade non-IEC plugs with no polarized socket blade. As is the case of 99.999999% of wall warts.
So where would a static charge go to? Coax shield to no place? HDMI to.....no place?
Find a screw on the case that goes into a metal chassis. Ground plane. Or makes positive there is a grounding block where your coax enters your home that is bonded to a copper ground rod. Ground that sucker. Or at least try. A multimeter would be a nice thing to have also. Then touch it before you go petting the kat.
.....i need coffee.

Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson had an argument about who was responsible for the dynasty building of the early 90's Cowboys.

The rest of us figured it out in about 3 years, Jerry has had over 30 years but still can't admit it. It's all he lives for, to show everyone he can put together a winner. I don't think he can. His kids only know what he taught them.

Johnson built it, but without the Herschel Walker trade, it never happens.

Jerry made himself General Manager after he bought the team but make no mistake Jimmy engineered that trade. As well as a lot of others at the time.

Jimmy Johnson is a football guy. Jerry Jones is a marketer (hustler).

When I see a football player get a 15 yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct (like taunting) in a close game, I often wonder what he was thinking. Was he thinking, I'm doing everything I can to make this a better team and help win a championship? Or, was he saying to himself, I want everyone to notice how great I am?

Johnson inspires one, Jones the other.

Season 2 order already in hand:

'Star Trek: Starfleet Academy' Renewed for Season 2, Tatiana Maslany to Guest Star in Season 1

I've not been optimistic about this show based on what I've read so far. Seems to be aimed at a younger audience. Interesting though that Tatiana Maslany will have some sort of role.

I'm sure I will watch at least the first episode but I am not optimistic.
Here i am over a year later and just finished season 1. Not great but not as bad as I was expecting. Did not care for the barefoot captain stuff but overall ok. Actually looking forward to see what they did for season 2.

Yeah, the foot stuff was just nasty. I kept thinking of how dirty her feet would get traipsing around shoe-less. Funny, I love being shoe less at home and never wear shoes indoors in my home for long, but seeing her laying on all her furniture with her bare feet hanging out just kind of grossed me out.

There would still be dirt ,dust in the future I am sure. So walking around the station like she did she would get stuff on her feet. I am sure the robot vacuum is still going to miss stuff, with all those different alien species running around there.

Where is it going to come from -- specifically?

Why do you think cleaning technology won't improve in the next few hundred years? HEPA filtration was invented as part of the Manhattan Project.

I don't know, but I still don't like her walking through the station or the academy with out her shoes. It looks unprofessional and very "hippy like" for someone of her status and I personally don't get off to feet, so there is that. ;)

Say, I don't wear socks or shoes in my house either. But for a captain in Star Fleet it looks bad to be walking around the academy with no shoes. Gives off 1960 Hippie vibes.

If you ponied up for an iPhone Duo, keep it away from anything other than your soft, fleshy fingertips. No fingernails, no dust, sand, dirt, or other particulate matter. And don't bend it more than it needs to. Zack has destroyed $2,000 of Apple hardware to get those views, which should cover his expenses.

IFixIt has published their Teardown and they had some positive things to say about the iPhone Duo. It still showed some dust ingress into the hinge assembly but seemed otherwise well-sealed.

But with a considerable number of reports of the main screen dying with similar failures, AppleCare+ should be a no-brainer for this phone.

If the review is like the article, oi! Eighteen paragraphs into the review and... all they've done is not really talk at all about the actual thing they are reviewing.

Halfway into the "written" review, I know more about how the writer "thinks" than I do about what they are writing about. I understand their politics, their self-overestimated understanding of film, their inability to be funny.

Takes about 22 paragraphs to get to one that starts "Anyway, the story kicks off...". Talk about Slop! 😂
