Hi Folks,
Do any of you know which is the best software Loader for ANY satellite
receivers that has RS-232 interface????
For example, I have a GEOSAT PRO HDVR3500 that has DVR Recordings in
the "Internal" which is a hard drive in the receiver.
And there's NO way of moving them to the "Back" onto a USB flash drive.
When I noticed it has a RS-232 male, I thought that it's possible to
copy or move the DVR Recordings files onto the computer by using
a Loader software with a RS-232 Cable interface.
I do have the RS-232 DB-9 cable..
But an order to do this I would need a software loader that would
recognize files in the satellite receiver.
I have 3 computers that I could use with the Loader. IF compatible.
The laptop has Windows Vesta on DELL Inspiron 1525
The one Desktop have Windows 7 Ultimate
The other Desktop has Windows 11 ( Plug and Play tower )
Any of you have done this with such Loader to transfer files
from the satellite receiver, where can I get such Loader to download from??
I have 2 DVR Recordings in the HDVR3500 "Internal" that I wanted to move from.
And each of them are 1 GB in size.
1 is 1 GB and the other is 2 GB.
I'm anxious to move these 2 satellite channels videos.
Hope that I have clarify my inquiry and hope that you understand.

You are not looking for a hard drive. It's a flash drive (without the plastic cover) plugged into the main board. See attached pic for the location.

NEED HELP?!
I was able to remove the flash drive out of the
GEOSAT PRO HDVR3500 satellite receiver.
It was hard to pull it out by NOT bending the body side frame
of the receiver. Finally pulled it out roughly. Straight out rough.
The flash drive look good, not a pear any broken piece after
I pulled it out.
Then I inserted the flash drive onto the USB port of the computer.
Both Windows 7 and Windows 11 does NOT recognize the
flash drive!!!!
And I don't see it appeared on "My Computer".
But when I inserted it on a laptop with Windows Vista....
It recognized the flash drive but will NOT or cannot open it.
It just shows "Removeable ( C ) "
That's on Windows Vista on a laptop.
On all 3 computers, the flash drive RED light lit up.
But nothing shows on the computer screen on
2 computers. Windows 7 and Windows 11.
Photo 1 shows I opened GEOSAT PRO Receiver and
pulled out the flash drive.
Photo 2 shows the flash drive
Photo 3 Shows a burn mark on the USB plug
on the other side of the flash drive.
Does that has something to do with it??
I also felt it, and it feel like a tiny crack on it???
I don't know. It shouldn't when pulled it out roughly???

Good evening Eugene. Personally, I would not have tried to 'force' the drive out of it's slot. Instead it woud have been better to have loosened the screws on the main circuit board to allow it to be lifted up high enough for the drive to clear the case. Hopefully your drive was not damaged during it's rough removal.
I can't speak to your drive's compatibility with any Windows operating system as I no longer use Windows as a daily OS and have not for quite some time. I use Linux daily. From past experience I do recall encountering situations where Windows would not recognize certain media which I knew had a valid file system, usually Linux. Linux of course would see the file system fine.
I would suggest downloading a recent version of a Linux OS, boot into that and see if it will recognize the file system of your thumb drive. If Linux won't recognize it either then it may be that the file system is proprietary, in which case you may not be able to recover your recordings. That is about all the advice I can give but I do wish you good luck in your recovery efforts.

I wish that you're my next door neighbor to help me with this.
But I did recalled that few years ago, IF you recalled, I sent you
my other GEOSAT PRO receiver which wasn't working right, and
then you were able to SAVE my favorite DVR Videos by sending
me the flash drive from that receiver!!!
I loved it what you did, and I still have it SAVED.
You must have it be recognized by using your Linux????
And I do recalled that you're from PA.
But wish that you could do the same thing with THIS
flash drive!!

Hello Eugene. Darned if I recall ever working on a satellite receiver and recovering files from a flash drive for anyone. 
I do forget stuff though or perhaps you are thinking of someone else. I do believe I recall an exchange with you regarding DVD recorders though.
In any case there is no need to send your flash drive off to anyone for file recovery. Give the programs that arlo mentioned a try. One of those should do the job. If not you could try downloading an actual Linux OS onto a bootable flash drive although if the other programs don't work I doubt that will. More here:

To each there own but I've found that Windows can't do much more than Linux can. Can't have everything.
For niche use cases, yes I agree. Kali for ethical hacking and security testing, and running a Cacti server for network monitoring are the two things I have experience in. Plus thousands and thousands of other things, but for every day use I just can't see it. The owner of the GMRS repeater that I pay to access is changing the Tx DPL tones tomorrow, while Chirp is available on Linux, the software to program my MXT500 is not.To each there own but I've found that Windows can't do much more than Linux can. Can't have everything.
I run Fedora and Ubuntu in VMWare, honestly I don't care much for the UI of either of them and I don't feel like spending days/weeks to customize the UI to make it look Windows-like when I could just use Windows. The cartoonish dock at the bottom of the screen reminds me of Apple products.
As I said above, and, FWIW, I run Win11 Pro and Arch on separate 250 GB NVME drives, using F8 to select which I boot to, with a 1TB SSD for storage, accessible to both OSs and a third formatted Nvme I want to use to learn Kali. It was much faster to setup Arch than it was to strip down Windows. Windows still takes much longer to boot.
For some reason, the satelliteguys.us site is loading a lot slower than usual on both Chrome on my Asus laptop and Safari on my iPhone.
I'm also seeing longer appearances of the blue bar at the top and the "3 blue bars" loading symbol.
Is anyone else also having the same problem? Thanks in advance.

Help, I'm a little confjused on the activation process.
I purchased the Joey 4 from Solid Signal and shipping box has Call 866 726-4282 to Avtivate new Receiver. That number is Solid Signals number.
I googled and that search said call Dish to activate. I assume that is correct unless this requires a 2 step process.
Please let me know.

i bought mine straight from dish as it was only $ 100.00 bucks!!! had the protection plan they came out removed and deactivated the 4k joey and activated and installed the joey 4.All good called Dish and new Joey 4 is activated and working.

Hmmm, I'm not seeing anything like those events in our Hopper 3 guide for tonight or Saturday.
I went into the Tools menu and requested a Guide Update. I'll try looking at it after the update completes.
edit — I now have the 148-01 4KFox events for Saturday, but not anything for 148-02 or 148-03 which don't even show as available channels. I do have 148-04 4KUSA.

On Tuesday, I recorded the first episodes of the new season's NCIS shows on CBS (Dish provided, not OTA). The new New York series and Origins will both do Auto Skip, but the original, now season 24 does not. What's stranger, when I do a search for NCIS, Origins and New York show the current recording and the next episode it will record, but the original show only shows the current recording and some other channel showing the very first episode of season one. It makes no sense. When I set up the timers, I was able to use search for Origins and New York, but for the original, I had to scroll ahead in the guide until last Tuesday when the show was airing. Then set the timer from there. You can see its timer type is DVR where the other two are Seek. What am I missing?
