Error Code 05 on DishScapes?

I have never had this happen before - I just went to watch some previous Dish Scapes, and most of the Dish Scapes that I could watch previously now have an error code of 05. Attached are 3 examples - there are quite a few more that have them as well. I know I was able to watch them previously because I will watch them on a faster playback speed to make sure I see everything, but now when I go and watch them I can't. It is just the Dish Scapes - all my other recordings work fine.

I usually create a manual timer overnight on the first of the month and have them record for one hour. Any idea why all of a sudden just the Dish Scapes have this error? I went and did a recording of the current Dish Scape for about 10 minutes and it worked fine.

My receiver is a VIP211k

00-01-02-03-04-05-06-07-08-09 are all error messages for corrupted recordings. There's no way to restore on the box. You'll need to delete and record again.

So if a user is seeing these, especially if there are a lot, and the recordings worked previously, that tells me the drive is failing.

Would this in itself be enough to warrant a receiver swap? Or does it have to fail completely first?

- note, after typing all that out, I did notice that OP's receiver is a 211k meaning the failing drive is his, not Dish's so that question would be more regarding the DVR receivers. Zippy, if the rest of the recordings on that drive are important to you, I'd look at cloning that drive because it's experiencing hardware failure which will likely eventually cause total loss.

Not necessarily, Pepper - This error message is typically due to a file error, not the entire drive. If it's consistent on a DVR box, we can check the overall health of the box.

Brittany, have you seen the reports of a problem with PTAT on H383?
If you watch a program on PTAT and then want to watch the next program on PTAT, you cannot skip forward through the end of program time barrier. You must exit to the PTAT program listing and select the next program to have the skip forward utility available. You can just play through the time barrier but if you try to skip forward it jumps to the end of the previous program. This is similar to the previous problem in that I believe it only occurs while PTAT is recording. The next day or after PTAT has shut down the problem does not present itself.

In the past week, it has gotten a lot worse - it is now no longer the Dishscapes, but now all my older recordings. The recordings from the past month are all fine. But anything older than about a month to a month and a half ago, as soon as I click to watch on it, I get the error code 05 - all shows I know I have watched before multiple times. Oh well... I should have noticed something was wrong where my hard drive said there is 190 hours of HD space available when it was it was down to 75 hours and I was thinking about what I should do.

I have a Error Code 05 on recordings as well on a Hopper 3 with Hopper Plus setup but that's because the nightly reboot happened when I was transferring recordings from the internal HDD to external HDD when it rebooted.

I am looking at this some more - Sunday morning I had space for 190 hours of HD recordings. Previously, it was space for 75 hours of HD recordings. I have my daily sports show being recorded for the past 2 days (2 hours each), and my space is increasing. I am now at 230 hours 46 minutes of HD recording available. It is almost as if all the recordings older than 4 weeks were deleted, but the file names are still listed, and when I go to open the file, the file can't be found. Very strange. I don't believe there is any setting on the VIP211k that has a setting to delete recordings after X number of days - I believe the only setting is the number of recordings to keep is for the "Maximum Recorded Events", which I have set to # for the unlimited recordings.

My oldest recording that works is from 10/21.

Still with Choice package? My stepdad says when the game started he got black screen and something to do with not the right package.

There were some technical issues during the pregame, where 668 was showing the Pacers feed instead of the Timberwolves feed until a few minutes before the game.

On the stream API it looks like some areas need the Sports Pack, what's his zip code?

I went into the Tools menu and requested a Guide Update. I'll try looking at it after the update completes.

edit — I now have the 148-01 4KFox events for Saturday, but not anything for 148-02 or 148-03 which don't even show as available channels. I do have 148-04 4KUSA.

As I recall you have the Flex package. Do you sub to multisport? -02 is FS1 and -03 is ESPN. -01 is Fox so you would get that if you sub to locals.

As an edit, you need to sub to the National Action Pack at $12 a month to receive those channels.

Which is what is interesting, I see the 4KFox channel on 148-01 but we're not subscribed to our Locals. So why it's coming in is puzzling. I thought that maybe it was a perk for Dish subscribers for the MLB Postseason.

I set a Timer for the Indiana - Ohio State game on Saturday. I'll take advantage of it while I can.

Even though it didn't work out for the Hoosiers, this event recorded and I was able to watch it in full 4K HDR.

But by law food product packaging must display the actual net weight of the product, i.e., the contents of the container, so by any logic, if not law, a store's stated per-ounce cost should reflect that figure. But since there's not any law regulating shelf statements, a store can say whatever it wants without violating any rules. So I guess the answer is more consumer legislation. Or simply caveat emptor.

But a box can weigh more than an ounce..maybe 2...a can might weigh 5 ounces..a bag...not much

You need to weigh the actual bag...a deli bag weighs less than that but a thick coffee bag is gonna weigh around an ounce...an empty tin can has some weight

Products sold by the ounce, pound, etc, should always be priced for the product only. Only the shipping weight should include the packaging.

Unless the specific product or its packaging is known at the time of weighing, estimating the tare weight for a PoS system is a tall order.

I'm pretty sure that produce bags can't get any thinner.

You certainly don't want to put unbagged produce on a belt, scale, or in a clerk's hands (gloved or not).

You would be thinking wrong when it comes to goods that are sold by weight (meat, produce, nails). Those items typically go on the scale wrapped without an associated tare. The weight only excludes the sticker because it hasn't been printed yet.

The larger discrepancies are likely from a data or sync issue. Digital tags don't cause the error, but they can spread one bad entry across a whole store or region instantly. The small cent differences are probably just rounding in the weight, the price data, or both.

Perhaps only for sliced meat and cheese. Salads and similarly "shifty" or "drippy" items are typically weighed in deli cartons of some sort.

My monster burritos (up to two lbs.) are weighed in their foil jackets or paper mache take-out trays, and the jacket/tray is then "sealed" with the printed label as it comes off the printer.

Precision has to give way to practicality in situations like that.

You mean you were pirating the VCII and entering "Wizard numbers" every month after key change? GI finally resorted to changing out the keys twice as often, then even more often, down to just hours, making it mostly untenable?

When i was a kid, i used to salivate envisioning me having a Cband dish. It wasn't until about 1995, I installed my first Cband dish, and i remember it took me about 2 weeks to get that dish aligned properly.. This was before internet, and i had to call and talk with people on the phone about advice on how to properly tune the dish. I can't remember the receiver, but it had a UHF remote. I had the satellite receiver in the living room, but i ported it to two TV's, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. It was so nice being able to control the receiver with the remote in the bedroom about 40 feet from the living room. I remember watching Rosanne feeds where it would air the entire week in succession. Nice nostalgia.

That is a misnomer. In the old days you subscribed to telephone service. That included the telephone line and one telephone. An extension cost $1 a month extra. So that $14,000 over 42 years was for the service not the leased telephone. There is no way they paid $28 a month for 42 years for a leased telephone.

All DMA's now Western Arc

I know HipKat said that they were working on conversions but we got the official news yesterday right from Dish that starting next month all DMA's will be on the western arc, and all customers will be assigned to that. That's gonna mean a lot of customers around here aren't gonna get Dish unless there are exceptions. Too many mountains and trees.

I hope these new "most powerful" satellites will mean that DISH can provide every channel that can be sourced in HD in HD. I do not like the fact that two of my favorite channels (Start and H&I) are SD. I was also very disappointed after installation that METV has to be streamed from my internet connection. my me t.v. is in HD via the sat. though it's better PQ via ota

This piece gets me - the fact that Dish has removed SD channels from satellite completely in the name of "HD upgrades". I pay for satellite TV, not streaming...I don't see why they couldn't leave the SD version of the channels on Satellite then put the HD streaming version like they have for other channels.

Yes, I considered D* as I knew some of my favorite channels had better PQ but too many require moving up to the "Choice" package and incurring the Regional Sports Fee.
I do not have METV or any of the Weigel owned channels here in El Paso.
