The number-one US state for EV growth, according to the June 22 Yardi report?
Oklahoma.

:eek

It has no ZEV mandates and "minimal" incentives, Yardi says, but also has cheap electricity, high multi-car household rates (so, for example, a non-Lightning Ford F-150 pulls their trailers), and a consumer base willing to switch.

Apple and Ford today announced that Apple Maps will be integrated directly into Ford's upcoming Universal Electric Vehicle (UEV) Platform through Apple's new MapKit for Automotive SDK. Coming to Ford's UEV Platform in 2027, this integration will deliver a beautiful and easy-to-use navigation experience powered by Apple Maps directly to the vehicle's displays. Road-level Maps information will also enable Ford's Latitude AI team to build a seamless hands-free driving experience

Here's how our domestic brands enjoy EV growth in non-US markets while our protectionist policies depress our market and restrict our options.
  • China automaker Geely will build electric vehicles at a Ford plant in Spain under a new manufacturing joint venture in Europe.
  • Pending regulatory approvals, the companies said the joint venture will begin operations in the first half of 2027, with the first new vehicles scheduled to roll off the line in 2028.
  • The announcement comes after months of reported talks between the two sides, as legacy automakers such as Ford attempt to compete with growing Chinese carmakers.

The joint venture is expected to include a new electric crossover for Ford, in "addition to a new member of the Bronco family, plus two electric Geely SUVs, with production starting in 2028," the companies said.
China's Geely to make EVs at Ford plant in Spain under new joint venture

Back at home, we continue heading in the other direction. Legislation advanced yesterday that could see the end of Mercedes-Benz being sold in the United States.

Mercedes-Benz Is Facing a Potential Sales Ban in the U.S. After a New Senate Panel Decision

You'd think maybe they'd get a waiver, but we just saw Polestar shown the door from our market via other legislation - nothing is guaranteed. M-B is a much bigger player in the space, both ICE and EV, so it's hard to see this actually coming to pass.

One thing's for sure: for the foreseeable future we'll have the fewest and most expensive options on average, while watching the rest of the world enjoy the inverse. The kicker is it's not limited to vehicles either - charging infrastructure is advancing quickly elsewhere, and we won't get to enjoy that either. Charging 10% to 80% in a few minutes is on track to become the norm, while that continues to be a 20-35 minute stop for us.

Odd dynamics out of our gov't- discouraging EV adoption whilst taking actions resulting in greatly increased liquid fuel costs. Is this what's good for GM? For anyone?

I am on the fence right now. I am wondering if I should or should not. I am tempted, plus the fact that I feel I missed out some not getting the iPhone and waiting until the iPhone 3G to get one.

So, who is going to order one? Right now I am leaning about 80% towards risking it...
Will you buy the first version of the Apple Watch?

Basically, not enough Neural Cores in the S-series processors.

I don't use Siri for much so I would not upgrade my watch for that alone.

It's the other apps which use Siri that could make an upgrade desirable for me. I use Siri mostly for adding items to my Calendar, Reminders, Clock, etc. As long as they will still use basic Siri for those purposes, I won't need an upgrade. As far as using Siri through my watch to ask detailed questions which require AI, I will typically just use the iPhone or iPad.

I have a first gen AW SE which no longer can be used as a key for my Tesla, but my AW8 can be. If the AW8 starts to stumble for that task, I may have to upgrade. I blame Tesla for no longer supporting the older AW OS for that feature.

If either of my AW's quit providing the basic skills for which I bought them, like delivering notifications and texts to me, etc., I will be pissed. I expect them to maintain those features for many years to come.

Several generation of iPhones older than the 15 didn't support Apple Intelligence and won't support the revamped Siri with Gemini, yet they were included in the iOS 26 and will be including in iOS 27. Apple really chopped off the Watch support list with watchOS 27 and I know it's due to the updated Siri, but at least keep the AWU 1 and maybe the Series 8 in there. My wife and daughter both have Series 7 watches, so theirs also won't be getting the 27 update, and neither has a desire to upgrade their watches. My daughter has actually opted to go back to an analog watch.

Hopefully Apple will continue the security updates on watchOS 26 for at least the next 2 years. As long as mine will continue giving me text and phone call notifications, as well as stay most if not all day on the battery, I'm still quite happy with it.

Directv stream making me angry
Trying to watch the NASCAR race and when TNT 'goes to commercials' they overlay some stupid 'local' commercials. Yes all I have to do is switch channels and go back to the regular feed but the issue is Directv isn't 'going to commercials'.
Yes they are showing commercials but they are doing the split screen so you can still see the race just not hear the audio.

I get they (TNT) like to give you 'local commercial crap' but don't do it during the race when it's a split screen!!!

They had some full commercial breaks between stages which is fine (they didn't switch to local ads during that…..interesting)
But during stage 1 every break was the side by side that got interrupted by the local crap.
It's rain delayed now
M
New week same sh*t
Hey Directv!!! DONT insert local commercials when they still show the race during commercials. I want to see the race….not some 'local' commercial. If they show a full screen commercial then insert one if you wish.

…..and another cut in with a political ad….ugh! Channel up, channel down and back to the race on half the screen during the commercial
K
You need to complain to TNT, they are the ones who send the Digital Program Insertion/SCTE-35 triggers over their C-Band feed that tells providers when to insert local ads. Select "Cable/Satellite on TV", "Advertising" as the reason for contacting them, and specify that you are watching on DIRECTV Stream.
M
well now that TNT is done lets see if USA does it too
last night I think TNT had the local commercial options "arse backwards" because 3 times they did a full screen commercial break and didn't flip me to some "oh vote for me" commercial or "hey such and such in Mankato wants your business" commercial.

Err. Ummm. What did you miss? It's NASCAR! They're going to make another left turn!

For years I have tried to get KRWG-TV from New Mexico State University (see my avatar). I could get a usable signal back in the analog days but when they went digital they moved their tower which is behind a tall mountain in my line of sight. I do get an occasional stable signal on some mornings if I turn my antenna that way but otherwise gave up on it long ago.
I was very excited when I read on their web site that they now provide an OTA signal for El Paso. However, when I dug into the technical details on rabbit ears I expected trouble when I read that they are using the same rf 23 as the main signal. Also, I am over 18 miles from the 3.15 KW transmitter.
Sure enough, when I scanned for new channels the signal breaks up continually and has only occasional audio. I am getting a signal strength of 92 but signal quality of only 10. This is with a moderate GE attic/outdoor antenna with clear line of sight to KFOX's tower (that KRWG is using in El Paso). I also tried the 4 bay antenna I put up for my neighbor at a higher 20 feet with the same results.
I suspect the problem to be that I get just enough of the main channel 23 to interfere with the local signal. Ten years ago I would have been tempted to try a higher and more directional antenna but I am a bit past that stage at this point. I also feel the chances of success are rather slim.
I wonder if KRWG wanted to use the same rf 23 or were forced into the situation as there are almost no empty slots on UHF in this area. I almost wish they hade used high VHF.
Do any members know of any area where these multi-transmitter set ups work well? They claim it will be feasible with ATSC 3.0 but I am not holding my breath for that.
I thought this would be interesting for members who frequent this site. Below is my rabbit ears report.

Almost statewide. The eastern counties and the one by El Paso are different DMA

Yes, that's the one I'd like to get here (downtown Albuquerque). I get KNME via OTA. Looks like DTV is the only way to get it.

Satellite would be the only way due to it being on the far eastern side of state

Try the free internet that comes with your apartment, versus the paid one you usually use. Maybe that will show a different location that will work.

They both use the same ISP (Comcast) using the same pool of IP's

Doesn't work over cellular either

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....
