Well after reading all over this site that most dish installers are installing the 44, I actually talked to dish local (dish corp) installer supervisor here in Wa state. He said unless corporate puts a 44 on work order. They customer will only get 34's! I told him that from what I understood from Natelie and others on this board its the customers option if they want a unsightly in my case cable 100 feet around they home. He said he cant tell me what others are doing but this switch is almost 200 bucks and his division will NOT install unless told too.

He was very nice. Just too the point about it. I emailed my concern back to Natelie. I was told the 44 and that is what I expect.

Oh Please... forgive my flaming rant.

Most homeowers cringe at even looking at the dish on the roof, much less two of them! Many homeowner associations forbid more than one "antenna", and yes I know what the FCC regs are.

Now, my 622 has been laying on the floor beside my home theater system for nearly 5 weeks. The last IDIOT that came out to do the install on the 622, stood around and picked his butt while trying to figure out the work order. Problem is, 4 receivers on a DP34. Only ONE cable is available (from pre-construction) at the home theater location. Absolutely no way to run another one unless they want to rip out walls and go up thru the second story bedroom above it.

So, I come here to learn what the hell is going on. BTW- the installer left and his boss later called back and said he was turning over the work order back to DISH, because it was incorrect and neither had authorization to do a DPP44 OR a Dish 1000.

Relentless calls to Level 2 tech, 2 emails to ceo@...... one return phone call from anyone in nearly 2 weeks and guess what - NO 622 is installed. It STILL sits. And you have the balls to say I should have to PAY for the DPP44? BS. Aside from another dish on the roof, the DPP44 makes the most sense but no body will do it.

Solution, Have DISH make sure their installers have some lattitude to take a walk on the wild side and get authorization if, when reaching the customers home and it just won't work like it was supposed to.

I'm so F*ing fed up with Dish, and incompetent installers, I'm about a half step from yanking all this crap out and tossing it in the alley- with a courtesy call to DISH to come get their junk!

Thank you kindly- Off Rant now........The sedative is taking effect.

with the HD pack I also need 148 if I want to get 2 independant locals and a second shopping network. Guess what , I just started to like a second shopping network. Thats 4 birds baby. Guess what I WIN!

I just did a Dish Mover. 622, 522, and 811 involved. I got a very well informed installer who showed up with a Dish 1000 and dp34. I asked about using a dp44 and he told me they can only use them for setups that require 4 sats. He also mentioned that there just happened to be a couple of stations available to me not on the 1000's sat coverage. I said that sounds like two dishes and 4 sats, he agreed. 42 minutes later he had the authorization and started the install.

He did an excellent job on the install and I am one happy camper....:)

P.S. I am outside of Dallas, TX.

Incompetent? That's not fair. You should know that if we use equipment not approved or authorized by E*, they won't pay our employers for it, who will, in turn, charge us for it. Yet you think we should just "hook you up". That is the most idiotic thing I have heard of.

I'm not trying to jam you up, but it seems like the fastest way to get your system up and running is to spring for the parts you want. You buy one on ebay, don't tell dish anything about it, and you go onward and upward. When you are done, if it is functional and well maintained, you should get most of your money back out of it. It won't cost you anymore than a 2 story wall fish would.

From our stand point, it is one hell of a lot easier to swap out your 500 for a
1000, than to set up a second dish. That doesn't make it the best or most appropriate solution. Read some of the 129 signal quality threads. I'm in a subdivision with NO LOS issues whatsoever. I think I will toss up a 1000 to see what the best signals I can get will be.
C
What they need is a DP34+ that supports Dish Pro Plus. All their newer dual tuners from the 721 up support DPP. Why they just dont upgrade the 34 to support it is beyond me.

I had the same crap with my installation I had one line going to a 508, 721 and 2 lines going to my 622 (Because that is where my 721 used to be located)

I wanted a 44 and got a no go on it and gave me a DP34. I tried to explain that I didnt have enough connections on a DP34 for me.

He said my 721 would work with only one tuner connected. I only want to keep my 721 going because I got so much crap stored on it I dont want to lose it yet. Reluctantly I said go ahead.

He got everything set up and my 721 wouldnt work properly. Also my 129 signal was crap and kept dropping voom channels.

Next day I turned off the 508, reran some cables and adjusted the dish. I can get high 80's where I was getting only high 60's before.

Overall I am happy...and probably will grab a 44 on ebay down the road and maybe kick on one of those 508's again. But I doubt it.

When I did the rewire I ran the cable going to the 508 to my 622 and the UHF remote works great on the other side of the house, upstairs.

I guess it was Dish that lost out on that one. If I got a 44 they would be still getting the money for the 508 from me.
navychop
Sounds like we have similar set ups.

My ViP622 will go where the 721 is.
My 721 will go where the 508 is.
My 508 will go where the 301 is.
My 301 will go away.

I'll have to run another cable to where the 721 will be. That will be 5 coax to feed, all because I can't reasonably expect a DPP44 and use a separator. Could be worse. After the extra coax is run, functionally I should see no difference.

I just hope the ViP622 & the installer both show up on time.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

They don't care... they're milkin' the cow. Buddying up with Elon to provide him an MVNO network will make their investors and shareholders salivate. All of their recent marketing efforts have failed, so this move makes a lot of sense.

Yep, they could stick it in with thier other dozen or so MVNO's, including the five they own.

Given that Tubi is one of the hottest FAST services out there, I don't expect it to go anywhere. Building up intolerance for ads takes a while, and as long as the advertisers are willing to foot the bill, why not?

You know of any drawbacks using Ultra and Prime?

Prime seems to have a problem passing the DV/HDR metadata to Roku and Apple devices, but no problem with their Fire devices.

Had a customer come in a couple weeks ago to pay her internet bill. She let me know in no uncertain terms that she did NOT appreciate me running the same ads over and over. I looked at her and waited for her to laugh and say she was just joking.......still waiting for that laugh.

There is one there too. I would think either is justifiable as they make both the device and provide a streaming program service.

I agree to a point. The transfer policy is creating parity, but only for the top 20-25 teams. The other 110+ teams in the FBS are just breeding grounds for the bigger schools which have more money and more recruiting appeal.

If a smaller school recruits, trains, and matures a quality player, they can't keep them past their sophomore year because the bigger schools snatch them up. Example: LSU didn't cultivate Sam Leavitt, they just harvested him from other schools. LSU is a top contender, in large part because of Leavitt. Michigan State and Arizona State.................are not. If either of those schools had been able to retain his services, who knows where they would be now.

A lot of upsets yesterday, but my LSU Tigers won.
Coach says afternoon game result of SEC "conspiracy". The rivalry game vs. Ala. will kick off in the afternoon at Baton Rouge rather than at night, which head coach Lane Kiffin says is intentional in order to neutralize fan craziness and noise, which is believed to help lead to wins for squads playing at home. "Obviously the SEC wanted to change this year from how it had been to give LSU less advantage, (considering) how well LSU plays at night and how intimidating it is to play here. So I guess when I look at it that way, I'm not surprised."

But he's come up with an ingenious solution. "Go to bed earlier Fri. night, then start your day earlier. Have breakfast earlier. Start drinking earlier. Whatever your routine is, just move it up."

Meantime ads have been running for a "Protect College Sports Act" moving through Congress.

Optimum, which bought up our previous cable company, Suddenlink (originally COX), replac ed all of their coax disdribution with Fiber several years ago. They ran new fiber links to the house, but installed RFOG (RF over glass) devices on the outside of the house, which makes the house coax system look like a cable system. They used DOCSIS modems and of course we had the same assymetric bandwidth of cable internet. When I called them a couple years ago, and said I had installed a connection to the local Fiber provideer, MetroNet, They panicked and offered me the 300 MBit "Fiber powered" cable service for $20 per month. They were bleeding customers. I cancelled my Metronet and went with the $20 deal for a year, even though I didn't like the old cable technology.

Then T-moble Fiber struck a deal with Metronet Fiber where T-mobile would take over the marketing, billing and customer relations for residential Customers. They offered a "Founders Deal" for 2 Gigabit service, symmetric speeds, for $70 per month for new customers. That included all taxes and fees and was guaranteed for 10 years. I couldn't resist. That deal is no longer offered, but I am set for 9 more years.

Now the successor to the old local telephone company, Brightspeed has also installed a modern Fiber system in the neighborhood, but won't be getting my business. But their Fiber technology is also superior to Optimums cable based system.

With Fiber competition, the cable companies are eventually doomed.

similar situation. almost every neighborhood around me has fiber, but our 3 block area. I called AT&T and was like, how hard is it to bring fiber over about 200 feet (I am closest to the folks with fiber and can see it on the poles from my front door); crickets and very frustrating.

After a strange reboot last night in the middle of viewing, this morning several more reboots and about a half an hour download.

Just did the update check manually about an hour ago with Hopper 3 on H713 and Hopper Plus on P15403.
Noticed something new when I clicked on the Update Software, it presented a pop-up as follows:
"Update software 1573
Update later Update now Cancel" with those three buttons which did not exist before.

After updating the H715 - I guess there must be major bugs as both H709 and H714 were skipped.

So here are the issue(s):

Issue #1
It did fix the problem with H713 which was:
"One of the problems I am seeing is that the Available Joey Software section no longer is showing the Android TV versions even after a manual software reset twice and the nightly reboot. Until it does, nether Technician Android TV download and Hopper Plus is able to check, download and update the Android TV software."

This was a major problem with H703.

H710 removed that dependency so H711 and H712 were working without that dependency but H713 brought it back which is fixed in H715 as no P versions or Android TV versions are shown in the Available Joey Software on the main Diagnostics screen.
However, with that said, the TECHNICIAN SETTINGS, Download ATV (Android TV) Files is not working correctly as the Download ATV Files shows:
"Download ATV Files 3000
Download in progress. This operation will be
complete when the files are downloaded

Joey 4 : P554- Failed
Joey 4 : P55403- Failed
Wireless Joey 4 : P654- Failed
Wireless Joey 4 : P65403- Complete
HopperPlus : P154- Complete
HopperPlus : P15403- Failed

OK"
From what I can tell, each of them goes through the Downloading followed by the Processing stages first before it goes into the Failed or Complete stage. It seemed to be going in a loop earlier as it will start downloading from the first item being the Joey 4 each time before it eventually stopped. This is the first time ever since 2023 that I had ever seen it Failed.

With that said, the dependency appears to still be required for the Hopper Plus to check, download and update the Android TV software as it says Failed, No Target when going to "Device Preferences", About, "Software Update"

Issue #2
Still cannot cast to Hopper 3 with Hopper Plus(Software P15317) with the Hopper Plus "Google Chromecast Built-In" feature" as it shows up as a casting device when the Hopper Plus is online and disappears when the Hopper 3 and Hopper Plus does it's nightly reboots but times out when one tries to cast to it and always shows up as Not available in the Google Home app on Android phone. No one else anywhere on the internet had confirmed whether it is working for them or not. Per brittanygarden in DM on October 16, 2026:
"We've been working with Google on this. We have a fix on the Google side projected for Q4. I know we're in Q4 now, but I will try to get a narrowed down timeline for you."

brittanygarden and Rick Durham

jsmit86 and naptime - If you are able to use H715, does the issue mentioned below still exist?
