Hidden D* HD lease fee?

I called today to cancel the HD option on D* because it is a pure waste of money. I was told I would have to return my leased HR10-250 that I just paid $149 upfront a month ago for since I was not going to have the HD option and would not subscribe to the new 5llnb crap with HD.

I was NEVER told upfront that I would have to waste $10.00/month on nothing in order to keep the HR10-250 I paid upfront money for!

To me that constitutes an unwritten monthly lease fee and I think it is probably illegal as hell.

Here goes a letter to my state attorney general and the BBB!

You weren't happy with VOOM DBS (or as you called it, DOOM), so what makes you feel that you will be any happier with Dish Network and their 15 channels of VOOM HD you won't be watching? If you're leaving because D* lied you...well, I can only tell you that E*is no different. If you're leaving for the sheer number of HD channels...then ok, but if you're leaving for HD quality, then forget it because DishHD quality is going down the crapper faster than I can say DishHD-Lite. I enjoyed the service for about a year, but I find myself watching two-thirds of my programming OTA due to their HQ quality issues. I'm still with E* because I purchased two of their HD DVRs, but I may just say the hell with them and make do with OTA (and my essentials *C subscription) until next year when D* actually has a decent HD lineup or when Verizon FiOS comes to my neighborhood.

yes I did hate voom, I admit that, due to the STB problems I had with them, constant reset (daily) was to much for me.
Will D* or E* ever offer a HD only package?
That's really all I want. Could care less about the countless SD stuff

one more thing...if no one ever complains nothing will ever get done. this is true in anything.........I complained about pot holes in my street....they paved it. if I had said nothing, nothing is what I would've got. I complained about neighbors loud obnoxious music, police shut'em down..if I hadn't called, guess what, they would still be partying. complained about my high intrest on my visa...they cut the rate...if I had'nt complained still be high, so set back and be taking advantage of if you wanna..............not me :D

Yes, But complaining in this forum will do nothing for you as far as getting a message to any company that you have a problem with, in this case D*... You would need to call them and voice your opinion, they don't look on this site for answers to thier problems.
They may look at the site but not for the type of stuff your looking for answers too.

Give them a call and let them know how you feel.

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

Since it was already "paid" for, I spent the two hours of my time watching the John Cena action movie on Apple TV, "Matchbox The Movie" even though the reviews were brutal. It was better than I expected, so I didn't feel like I had wasted an afternoon watching it. But it felt like another "Reacher"/"Neghley"/"Mission: Impossible"/"Fast & Furious" crash and blow stuff up with lots of automatic gunfire mixed in movie featuring covert CIA operatives.

I don't think we'll get a follow-up movie from this. I expect Mattel will have other toy lines to exploit.

PISTONS and THUNDER are finally testing on the stream server. PISTONS is showing the Ion/Scripps Sports promo loop filler that their NHL and WNBA feeds have, THUNDER has a "You are watching Thunder+" slate

The Clippers still haven't officially announced their TV plans beyond 10 simulcasts on KTLA, but the NBA's FAQ for ClipperVision is now live. The CLIPPERS feed is currently showing a loop of their Hawaii preseason game.

The Heat still haven't announced their West Palm Beach or Fort Myers affiliates. Since WPLG is streaming the games for free via their app, I doubt we'll be seeing the return of WPLG on stream.

So far nothing testing for the Bucks, Magic, Hawks or Hornets.

West Palm Beach is getting it on WTCN-CD/43 MNT. Still nothing for Fort Myers


Also, the Thunder's deal for KSBI/52 OKC and KQCW/19 Tulsa will be via a special cable and DIRECTV only feed of those stations. OTA viewers and Dish customers will be limited to 10 games.

It's only available for streaming customers, they still haven't added that batch of CW stations to satellite.

Even if it was, satellite customers still can't stream their CW affiliates via the app, just the Big 4, select PBS stations and some independents (mainly the ones that have full season NHL/NBA rights)

Yes the Cowboys owner needs to fire the general manager (himself), co-owner, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Executive Vice President, Director of Player Personnel, and President of AT&T Stadium (his son) and then he should jump off of a cliff. Only then can they recover.

Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson had an argument about who was responsible for the dynasty building of the early 90's Cowboys.

The rest of us figured it out in about 3 years, Jerry has had over 30 years but still can't admit it. It's all he lives for, to show everyone he can put together a winner. I don't think he can. His kids only know what he taught them.

On the West Coast, a 40-cent differential is common. It used to be 30 cents before the prices rose above $3.

A "full dollar more" sounds like it may be boat gas (non-alcoholic), which is a whole different discussion.

Both non-ethanol and prem run about the same....buck more. When we were up in TN it was a buck more up there as well.

In Oregon, our premium boat gas is about a dollar more than our corn premium. Several stations only offer the non-corn premium grade.
