you stuck that 22khz where ?
You're connecting the StarChoice LNB (with its built-in 22khz switch), to an e
xternal 22khz switch.
And you're saying the e
xternal 22khz switch passes tone to the LNB it selects on the
tone-on side?
...and obviously not to the tone-off input side...
So, if I understand you correctly, you use the
external 22khz switch to select between the G10@123 of the StarChoice LNB (through the tone-off side), -or- the DBS 119 LNB hooked to the tone-on side of the e
xternal switch?
That still only gives you a choice of two sources. With the tone...
off = the SC tone-off or 123
on = the external DBS LNB
There is no way to select the other side of the StarChoice LNB (@127)
What am I missing, other than getting to reuse an otherwise useless StarChoice LNB?
This -is- somewhat like finding a creative way to use the Phase III dish with integrated switch, I suppose.
... The only other way I'm thinking that this will work is if someone has a Universal LNB offset on a motorized (the mian LNB would be a standard) and they put the 22k side of the switch to the standard LNB. So when the 22k is ent, you'd get the standard LNB and when the 22k is off, you would get the low band of the Universal (which is what PAS9 pretty much has)
That idea makes my brain itch almost as much as the first example.
Sounds like it should work fine.
Though, I have my doubts why anyone would want such a configuration.
Maybe because those are the LNBs and switches they had left over...?
(why wouldn't you just put the universal as the main LNB and be done with it?)
And this should open up a lot of other creative ways to use 22khz switching.
I know I'll be thinking about it more in the future.
Thanks.
