1000.2 Install Question - Extra Dish for 129W Possible?

I currently have a 1000.2 dish pointed at 110, 119, and 129. I live on the very edge of the broadcast range for the transponder that spot beams my HD locals from 129 and have a problem with the signal dropping when there is very little cloud cover.

I was wondering if I could use the LNB input on the 1000.2 to hook up a Dish 500 (or 19inch Dish) pointed directly at 129 to try to get a better signal. Is this possible at all? I've read several posts were people recommended having a separate dish pointed directly at 129 because the 1000.2, .3, .4 etc are good at picking up all birds, but not great at picking up any one bird.

Yes, you can. You'll need to cover the eye for 129 in the 1000.2 with aluminum foil. On the D500 dish you need to use a DP LNB (single or dual).

One quick follow-up...You said I would need a DP LNB. Would a DP Plus LNB also work, or does it specifically have to be a DP LNB?

You're probably talking about using a DPP Twin and I don't think that works (never tried it). The DPP Twin has a built in switch inside and you're probably asking yourself for trouble. I would just get a DP Dual LNB on eBay.

You also don't need to cover the 129 eye on the 1000.2 dish. I would try lowering the elevation about 1 degree to see if your signal increases on the 129 location. If that doesn't work, then look at doing the wing dish.
