Hi, I know this is going to sound stupid, but I was wondering if Dish charges you to run the "test."

Am I correct in saying: I go to ch 501. It asks me if want to rent it, I click yes. It runs the test. After the test is over it gives me another chance to say yes I want to buy it, or no I want to cancel.

Basically , I want to see if my 722 with output 1080p to my 1080p tv via HDMI. I'm sure it will, but I thought I'd run the test just for kicks. It then asked me to put in my password so I thought if its going to ask for that, it might charge me. But then I heard someone say that if you click yes, it won't charge you until AFTER you run the test and click yes AGAIN.

Is my thinking correct? Basically I want to run the test for free, and then cancel out of it.

Thanks!
Scott

If it passes the test it asks you again if you want to purchase it. :)

So yes if you get that far your good.

I just got the update at home today, and was testing it out... (My Slingbox however did not like the 1080p signal) :D

On other site it was a report - after success test the movie began play without any question. Not sure if that person accidentally press Select one more time.

You need to press select one more time for the movie to start.

I have repeated the test a few times to see if I was in 1080p mode and surprisingly I was. :) (1080p/24)

are all movies on 501 in 1080p?

I have 14 movies on 501 and none of them say anything about 1080p. I also did not see "I Am Legend" on the list. Will the movie say it is 1080p on the menu?

Let me post a picture - too many ppl never saw the list/movie.

A lot of VOD on 501s from 622 ( 722 will follow ):
EDIT: Last two pictures taken from 722.

I have 2 622's and only have 5 movies on channel 501 on 1 622 and 8 movies on the second 622 and no "I Am Legend" on either.
Anyone know why that might be?

Slightly off topic - I thought I read somewhere that the 1080p VOD disabled TV2 when in dual mode. Is this correct?

I thought I would run the test to see if I would get the 1080p but I must have done something wrong. I went to 501 and clicked on Bank Job which had the HD designation and before I knew what had happened I had rented it and had missed the 1080p test. Whoops!

If the movie listed in the EPG does not have 1080p next to its Title, it's not 1080p and you won't see the test.

When I got 501 on my first 622 it took two days before "I am Legend" 1080p showed up.

On my second 622 it showed up immediately upon being upgraded. Go figure.

Moot point, my Mitubishi 52631 DLP didn't pass the test.

You DID do something wrong. Bank Job is NOT in 1080p, ergo, no test needed.

When I do the test the screen says my tv resolution is not compatible with this event. Why and is anyone else with a 1080p tv having the same problem? I am connected via hdmi and have a westinghouse lcd 42 inch tv that is a 1080p output tv.

This is apparently the case with a fair amount of customers (me included).

I wonder if Dish is doing some sort of "pre-test" screening before the downloads but since we know their tests can be faulty (from the many Sony 1080p TVs that are flunking), it just never gets sent out?
