Wow. I had never heard of this before. What a terrible thing to do. It's amazing how messed up people are and how they get their kicks on messing with others.

Generally those that do this kind of thing, are bullied in real life at school. Online games allow them to be the bullies themselves and act out that pent up aggression.

No an excuse at all, but generally the reason.

I didn't realize Minecraft was so competitive.

You wouldn't believe. My 7-yr old boy begs me to play with him and my older son (12). You wouldn't believe the beating I take in that game from the younger one, while he's meniacally laughing away

Personally I think that game should be banned!!!

Minecraft can be whatever you want it to be. You can create whatever you want. This is what makes the game so much fun. Just go online and watch some youtube videos of Minecraft. The game has many different mods that it can even be played as a shooter. My son and I love playing the game.
